CD PROJEKT RED and TRIGGER studio hosted a panel at Anime Expo 2025 to announce Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2.
Showrunner, writer, and producer Bartosz Sztybor is returning for the second season. But this time, Kai Ikarashi, who directed the sixth episode of the first season, is going to direct the entire series.
CDPR confirmed that this season will have a huge impact on the game, just like it first happened when the first season aired.
While there weren’t many changes in terms of gameplay, we did receive stuff like Edgerunners gear and cosmetic items alongside a huge influx of new players who experienced the tragedy of Night City for the first time.
If there is something that Cyberpunk 2077 is good at, it’s definitely breaking people’s hearts. And according to Bartosz Sztybor, this is going to continue with Edgerunners 2.

In addition to the official announcement, a teaser trailer was released by Netflix. The highlights of this very short video are probably the teasing of the new characters.
With everyone being so different in Night City, it’s very hard to tell whether they’re part of a criminal group, netrunners, or FIA agents.
At the end of the teaser, we see a small kid with a camera. He is likely going to be the main character of the show.
The immediate thing that comes to my mind is that he could be David and Lucy’s son. However, everything points out that it’s going to be a completely new story.
It’s strange that a kid would be the center of a story due to how dark and twisted some of the themes in Cyberpunk are, but it definitely promises to be something fresh.
Since he has a camera, we can assume that he is recording something that is going to have massive importance in the plot.
If I had to take a guess, it would be that he has footage that’s evidence of a crime related to very powerful people. Who knows, with Cyberpunk, you can never truly predict.

There is no release date yet. Last time, it took two years after the official announcement for Edgerunners to come out. Edgerunners 2 is probably coming in 2027 assuming everything goes smoothly.
