Purpose of Shrines in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Shrines in Assassin’s Creed Shadows allow Naoe and Yasuke to take a moment and pray. Each location offers between 2 and 5 shrines you can honor by praying in front of them.
Completing these tasks will reward you a Knowledge Point. Knowledge Points are required to unlock higher Mastery Tiers.
The expansion, Claws of Awaji, adds five more Shrines on Awaji Island. They function exactly the same way as shrines in the base game.

The map has six layers. The main one shows the locations of the shrines on the island. The other five are detailed maps of each shrine with markers for the spots where you have to pay respect to earn the Knowledge Points.
Shrine Locations
Izanagi Shrine
Izanagi Shrine is located in Eshima Coast. It’s directly north of the Izanagi Kakurega and northwest of the Hidden Reservoir.
It has three locations to pay respect to earn the Knowledge point. They are all along the east wall. The one in the middle is right next to the old tree, which is one of the three landscape sumi-e on Awaji.
Sannomiya Shrine
Sannomiya Shrine is in the mountainous region of west Sumoto. Its official entrance is from the east side. A Torii gate will show you the path. Northwest of the complex, there is the Sannomiya Lookout Viewpoint as well. Don’t forget to climb up to discover another portion of the island.
The shrine has two spots where you can stop and pay your respects. The first one is at the stairs of the main building as you enter the complex from the east side. The second one is higher up in the mountain, to the west, next to the lake.
As you are heading for the second spot near the lake, on the left side of the path, on the other side of the stream, you will find a treasure chest.
Sumoto Hachiman Shrine
The Sumoto Hachiman Shrine is located in Sumoto city. It’s on the south side, between the Samurai Quarters and Samurai Residence.
There are two spots to pay respect and between them, in the pool of water, you can look a treasure chest.
Fukura Hachiman Shrine
Fukura Hachiman Shrine is at the base of Fukura Hachiman Lookout in western Fukura Bay. The easiest way to reach it, is from the south, following the steep path through the mountains from Fukura Village. The shrine has two spots where you can pay respect to earn your Knowledge Point.
Yura Minato Shrine
Yura Minato Shrine is located in the southwest end of Yura city. The closest travel point is the Yura Kakurega, just ~80m to the north.
There are two shrines to pray at. The first one is near the entrance from the north. The second one is far in the back, up on a hill. As you walk up the path, look to your right for a treasure chest in the woods, on a cliff.
