Availability and Visibility
All achievements are the same on all platforms. Some will be always visible to you, while others may be hidden. The hidden ones are to avoid any potential spoilers, however minimal they may be.
The hidden achievements are usually related to the main storyline of Claws of Awaji. You can earn all achievements on any difficulty and in a single playthrough.
Tips for completing the achievements
Below, you will see a few segments providing tips and tricks to help you earn some of the trickier achievements.
Clawless
The description of this achievement is pretty vague. By targets, it means Nowaki’s Ambushers, Yasuhira’s Spies, and Tomeji’s Captains.
Slice of life
Killing 5 enemies with one Wind Slash strike is easier than it sounds. Simply go to any castle on Awaji and find an area where you can fight in close quarters. I suggest you take out most of the bow and teppo guards because they will always maintain their distance, if possible.
Damage them until they’re low on health and then unleash your Wind Slash. The ability has a deceptive long range, especially the last hit of the ability. In the following image, you see how four enemies have already been hit while an archer is apparently safe. The last strike hits him, granting me the achievement.
Backfire
For the Backfire achievement, you need to learn the Tezutsu Burst skill. It basically turns your Teppo into a flamethrower by using a firework device.
Use Tezutsu Burst and turn your back on your closest enemy so he can hit you. This will make the firework device fall to the ground, exploding just a few seconds later. The idea is for an enemy to be close enough to be killed by the explosion.
Assassin’s Focus
This one is a little annoying to set up because Windstep has a time limit, and also because the Bo isn’t the best weapon to deal burst damage. Having to kill seven enemies with a single use of Windstep is tedious but far from impossible.
First, you must upgrade the Windstep ability to increase its duration and get extra time after a kill. Then, go to a place where it’s easy to gather multiple enemies in an open space. Remove all their armor and then damage them until they’re around half health.
Once these conditions are met, it will be very easy to wipe them all with a single Windstep. I tested this on multiple locations, and the Yura Shipyard is probably the best one for this.
White at the Yura Shipyard, don’t forget to loot the Legendary Chest there to get the Bo Master Headgear.
Boat Rocked
To unlock the Boat Rocked achievement, you must find an old Ashigaru who is eager to re-live some of his memories. You can find him in the Yura Shipyard, on the east side of the Awaji Island. Duel the old Ashigaru and defeat him.
On top of the achievement, you will also earn his weapon: Best Offense (legendary Naginata).
Breathtaking!
The Breathtaking! achievement is a likely reference to Keanu Reeves’ epic announcement at E3 2019 for Cyberpunk 2077.
To unlock this achievement in Claws of Awaji, you have to discover all three landscape sumi-e locations and make the drawings.
You can then go back to Junjuiro to show him the sumi-e you made and this will complete a side quest called Painting Memories.
