How to start Belly of the Beast
After capturing Mad Goro, you can meet Jubei near the Ishikari Market. Go down the main road and uphill where you’ll find Jubei.
Commander Wada refused to release Mad Goro, so now Atsu must pretend to turn in Jubei along with the Oni’s musket.
Meet with the Oni
After getting past the guards, Atsu and Jubei will meet the Oni. His intimidating appearance matches his brutality. After turning in Jubei, follow the Oni to get your reward.
As he counts your reward, examine the saya (scabbard) to the right. This will result in a cutscene, with Atsu asking for the saya in place of the reward. Luckily for you, you’ll get the saya and 3,000 mon.
Kanta the Jailer
Now you’ll need to find a way to get the Jailer’s keys. Walk up behind him and attempt to take the keys. He’ll catch you and this will result in a duel with him.
The instant the duel starts, he’s going to charge in. All of his attacks are unblockable, so focus on dodging them and getting some swings in between his attacks.
Dodge his kanabo at all costs as one hit will drain an immense amount of health. When he’s defeated, walk up to him to pickpocket him while helping him get up.
Reach the Holding Cells
After a cutscene, return to your horse and retrieve your gear as it’s time to rescue Jubei. This is also the point where you unlock the Mercenary Attire.
This armor will increase damage done with thrown melee weapons, allow assassinated enemies to drop sake, and have sake restore additional spirit. It also comes with a decorative face mask and hat!
You’ll need to sneak through the yellow grass, go behind the stone to avoid detection from the raiders at the campfire, then climb up the watchtower with your grappling hook.
Climb up the ladder, assassinate the guard, and exit the watchtower to the right. Go down to the area where the three raiders are. Sneak your way to the left wall, assassinate the drunk raider, climb up the scaffolding and go down the wall ahead.
Hide in the yellow grass and look for a patrolling raider. When he turns his back and walks towards the bonfire, follow him. To your right will be some stables. Go behind the stables and climb up.
When the guard is beginning to walk back the way you came from, walk along the rope to reach the broken wall ahead.
This next area has several raiders with two samurai slaves. Assassinate the raiders and one of the samurai will tell you the holding cells are up the ledge. Behind him is a rocky wall you can climb up.
When you’re up the ledge, go pass the drums and through the broken palisade wall. Go right and through the broken stone wall to the holding cells ahead. In there you’ll find Jubei.
Climb to the Castle
After prying off the bars of the holding cell, follow Jubei across the cliffside. When he stops, go down the slope, then start leading the way by climbing the cliffs to the castle.
Open the purple chest for some Oni Raider masks, then climb up the scaffolding with Jubei. When you reach a dead end, you’ll need to jump onto the suspended bamboo.
Climb up the ladders, open another purple chest for materials, then sneak in through the window to confront the Oni.
Escape Ishikari Castle
Unfortunately, the Oni is smarter than he looks and saw such an attempt on his life coming. After you’re thrown out, follow Jubei to begin your escape. Once you and Jubei reach your horses, you’ll learn a new ability.
By holding L1 and ☐, you can have your horse charge through the enemy lines. Successfully doing this will restore health as you hit enemies. With this in mind, don’t worry about getting hit and just worry about escaping while charging through the raiders.
Avoid the fiery explosives being launched at you until you successfully escape their line of sight. Atsu and Jubei will talk in a cutscene, and unfortunately it doesn’t end well.
Their experiences differ too greatly and as far as they’re concerned, they’re strangers to one another. With Jubei leaving, Atsu must take matters into her own hands and get a hold of Mad Goro.
