Climb Mount Yotei
Start your way up Mount Yotei by grappling up the stump and climbing up the rocks and ledges to reach the path up Mount Yotei. This is found on the northwest side of the Yotei Grasslands.
As you reach the entrance and if it’s your first time here, you’ll have a cutscene showing a flashback of Atsu’s parents telling Atsu about their trip up Mount Yotei.

Squeeze into the cave to enter a new phase and follow the path ahead. Eventually you’ll reach a slope. Slide down, jump and grapple onto the rope ahead, and continue ascending.

Go up the stairs, slide down the slope, go up the ledges and climb the rocks to reach the torii gate ahead.

Follow the path as it’s straightforward until you reach another large slope. Jump off the rocky ledge and grapple onto the first rope. Climb up and jump to the second rope.

Once you reach the second rope, climb up the rocky ledge, jump across the gap, climb the white rocks on the wall, and grapple onto the support beam with the white flag.

Grapple onto another support beam up ahead and you’ll run into an abandoned rest house. Behind it is a small chest with some basic supplies.

Climb up the ropes and continue scaling up the mountain with the ropes and platforms ahead. Jump off the rocky ledge onto a branch, and go through the torii gate ahead.

Keep following the path ahead until you reach a large slope near a blue flag. Slide down and grapple onto the rope and keep climbing to reach the top of Mount Yotei.

When you see the caldera, you’ll know you’re at the top of Mount Yotei. Follow the torii gates to reach your destination.

Claim your Inheritance
You’ll find a small altar at the edge of the caldera as you follow the torii gates. Bow in front of it to claim Mother’s Charm and Father’s Charm.

- Mother’s Charm will increase your arrow damage and this damage increases with the more shamisen songs you learn.
- Father’s Charm will allow you to regain health with Perfect Parries, with this amount increases with more completed Sumi-e Paintings.

Pillar of the Fallen and the Starlight Abyss Sword Kit
If you continue making your way around the edge of the caldera and you’ll find a Pillar of the Fallen. Pick up the sword there to unlock the Starlight Abyss Sword Kit. This Sword Kit can be used for your Katana or Dual Katanas.

Mount Yotei’s Altar of Reflection
If you go into the caldera (the concave area on top of a volcano), you’ll find an Altar of Reflection in the center. You can walk down or slide down a slope to reach this and climb back out easily enough.

Takezo the Unrivaled
You’ll eventually fight Takezo the Unrivaled at the top of Mount Yotei during the quest “The Five Teachings“. If you were wondering what the campfire next to the pile of swords was, it’s related to that quest as this campfire is eventually used to summon Takezo.
Takezo the Unrivaled is the hardest boss fight in Ghost of Yotei. His ferocity and skill far exceeds that of even Lord Saito. If you’re wanting to challenge him, you’ll first need to start the myth, “Takezo the Unrivaled“.
