How to start The Winter Farms
You can start The Winter Farms any time after entering Teshio Ridge. You’ll need to find one of five contested farms. Look for and inspect some bodies found at a farm.
Defeat the Shinobi that appear with your newfound ally. Once they’re dead, a cutscene will start and you’ll get access to the Kunai.
Practice with the Kunai
Kunai are a quickfire weapon that inflict major stagger damage, making them great for interrupting opponents mid-combos. Holding ☐ and using the Left Stick will let you select a target, highlighting them.
Tapping ☐ will throw the kunai at the nearest target in front of you. Practice with the squash Hana throws, and quickly tap twice when she throws two squashes.
After the cutscene, Hana will act as a vendor that can upgrade your kunai and ammo capacities for kunai, smoke bombs, and metsubushi.
Check on Hana’s Farms
With one farm liberated, you’ll need to check on the other four farms. Each of them will have shinobi either out in the open or hiding in bushes and pots. If no one’s around, then they’re hiding.
Upon liberating three and five farms, you’ll receive minor charms that affect your kunai. They’re worth obtaining as they’re quite useful.
Charm of Hidden Blades
When you liberate three farms, you’ll unlock the Charm of Hidden Blades. This will allow you to throw one additional kunai. While equipped, you will still only consume one kunai when thrown, helping you get more kunai overall.
As you upgrade it with kunai kills, you can throw up to three kunai per throw. With upgraded kunai, you can throw up two four of them at once.
Charm of Burning Blades
When all five farms are liberated, you’ll receive the Charm of Burning Blades. While equipped, your kunai will inflict fire damage and ignite flammable objects.
You can use both the Charm of Hidden Blade with the Charm of Burning Blades to launch multiple burning kunai.
