Reach the Faithful Leap Shrine Entrance
If you’re looking to increase your parry windows, you’ll want to reach Faithful Leap Shrine. The entrance is in eastern Tokachi Range, right between Hidaka Grove and the Twin Ponds of Indaka. It’s a short trip north of Saito’s Training Fortress.
Make your way up the incline and you’ll find the path ahead has eroded away. Get ready for a lot of jumping and platforming as this trial is nothing but that.
The Faithful Leap Shrine Entrance
The path ahead is treacherous, but should you fall you’ll respawn nearby and don’t have to start the whole thing over again. While the path ahead seems simple, do not be deceived and pay attention to the flags.
Look at the Flags
It’s an easy mistake to jump towards a branch with a flag and expect to grapple onto it. Doing this at the first flag will have you fall off the cliff. Red and White flags indicate you can grapple onto it, purely red flags indicate an action is required.
In the case of pure red flags in this shrine, these are points you want to press and hold △ and pull the branch down while holding L2. This creates a platform for you to jump on rather than swing on.
These red flag branches will appear throughout this trial, so don’t immediately jump at every flagged branch you see. From here, you can swing onto the branches ahead then climb up the ledges.
Grapple them climb onto on Tightropes
After climbing up the ledges, you’ll see a tightrope with a red and white flag. Jump and grapple onto it, climb on top of the rope, then jump across the branches and onto a rocky platform. On the platform, pull down the red flag branch.
Jump onto the red flagged branch and jump ahead on the other branch and to the rocky outcrop. Follow the frog statues then go across the bamboo bridge. Continue climb up and squeeze into a small cave to enter the next phase.
Follow the Frogs and Deer
Upon entering the next phase, you’ll encounter a broken bridge. To the right of it are some ledges you can climb up. Ascend up the ledges and go across the log bridging the gap.
While it might not be easily noticed, there’s a slight detour ahead. This bonus path is a short hop to some upgrade materials and a cute frog painting.
Obtain the Bonus Path Supplies
Go to the left and you’ll find some small platforms you’ll need to jump across. Climb up the white rocks and squeeze through the opening to find a few supplies and the frog painting. Return to the fork in the road and continue going uphill.
Follow the Main Path
Going uphill where the deer are will lead you to a branch you’ll need to swing on, then to a tight rope you climb up. Go to the right and jump onto the tree branch, to the ledges, climb up, and go across the bamboo bridge.
Continue hopping across the bamboo bridges and go through a small opening in the boulders. When you see the view of the waterfalls in the distance, you’re around the halfway point.
Ascend to the Summit
Jump to the bamboo bridge to the right of the waterfall scenery, and follow the path ahead to find three grapple points. Swing across the two branches then climb up the third point onto the tightrope.
Walk to the ledge to the right and look for the branch with the red flag. Pull it down, jump onto it, then jump to the bamboo bridge. Go across the bamboo bridges, then grapple onto the broken tree stump and climb up.
Walk further ahead to find a broken bridge. To the left will be a tightrope below you, jump down and cross it, then grapple and climb the second tightrope ahead.
You’re in the home stretch, just jump across the platforms and grapple on the broken stump. Go on the bamboo bridge, jump up the first tightrope, grapple and climb the second tightrope, then go up the rock ledges.
The Summit and the Charm of Futsunushi
Squeeze through the opening in the rocks and you’ll find a small altar in a small grove. Go pray at the altar to unlock the Charm of Futsunushi.
The Charm of Futsunushi is a Major Defense Charm that increases the windows for Parries, Perfect Parries, and Perfect dodges, making them easier to perform. This compliments the Armor of the Undying and the Bounty Master Armor.
