How to start The Storm Blade
You’ll need to find Ugetsu the Storyteller in southwest Oshima Coast. His camp is south of Oiso Fishing Village and the Otsuki River. Talk to him to learn that he doesn’t know which story belongs to the sword hidden here.

Go upstairs to the Forgotten Shrine, cut through the thing bamboo to the right, and bow at the Fox Altar. This will summon a gray fox that will help guide you forward.

Follow the Fox
Follow the Fox through some tree roots and they’ll lead you down a path that leads to a platforming area. Jump, climb, and swing your way forward until you find the Glade of Rememberance.

At the glade, there’s a chest beneath a red tree. Open it to find a haiku written by Jin Sakai. After the cutscene, the camera will pan and zoom to some vines. Go behind them to find a secret entrance.

When you reach the broken bridge, turn around and climb up the rocks behind you. Continue platforming your way to the torii gate ahead and you’ll find an old building.

Reach the cave in the Lost Shinobi Den
Atop the waterfall is a cave that the fox points out. To access this cave, go into the old den to the right of the waterfall. Next to a ladder that leads to the roof, you’ll find the Stag Helmet on a box.

Go up the ladder, climb the rocks, grapple down the stump and platform your way to the waterfall. Inside the cave you’ll find the Storm Blade.

Reclaim the Storm Blade
After picking up the Storm Blade, you’ll be ambushed by a group of Nine Tails shinobi that stole the sword. Defeat the two shinobi left behind then chase after the one that ran away.
Jump down the waterfall and go to the right. There’s a chain you can walk across that wasn’t there earlier.

After the bridge you run on gives way, swim downstream and climb up the rock wall. Follow the gray fox to the Home of the First Shinobi. The fox will lead you to footprints, examine them and follow the fox to a gate.

Opening the gate will lead you to the Grave of the First Shinobi and the Nine Tail that stole the sword. Defeat the Sword Thief in a duel to claim the sword.
His combos aren’t anything unusual aside from his three spin attack. It’s the third spin of his that you have to watch out for as it swings very fast when compared to the first two.

The Sword Thief will also have disarming attacks. These are very fast so if you want any chance to disarm him, use any melee attacks that consume spirit to disarm him instead.
Use the Dance of Wrath
After picking up the Storm Blade, you’ll unlock the Dance of Wrath ability that you can use with L1 + ☐. This ability lets you dash up to three times against one or more targets.

Defeat the remaining Nine Tails and Ugetsu will appear. Now that he knows who this sword belongs to, he’ll share the tragic story of Jin Sakai and his fight against the mongols.
After the end of the cutscene, you’ll find the Ghost Mask at the grave. Pick it up so you too can carry on the legacy of the Ghost of Tsushima.

Easter Eggs and the Fate of Jin Sakai
If you’ve played Ghost of Tsushima, you too were likely curious as to what happened with Jin Sakai going into exile. While we may not have super direct answers, we have some very good clues.
Obviously he made his way from Tsushima to Ezo which is quite the trip. He likely needed to be as far away as possible from home as the Shogun had a bounty on his head.

When you investigate the Shinobi Den and the Home of the First Shinobi, there are a few easter eggs you’ll find that show what Jin was up to after making a home in Ezo.
Shinobi Den Easter Eggs
Atsu comments on the crates of armor, it’s likely Jin was training others in combat for a likely conflict with the Shogun or Clan Shimura should they find his hiding spot.

On the wall next to the crates of armor, you’ll find Jin’s grappling hook, the same one that the blacksmith Taka from Ghost of Tsushima made.

The Stag Helmet is the helmet that went with the fully upgraded Clan Sakai Armor. It’s missing one of its horns, most likely lost in the battle with Khotun Khan as the item’s description says it was cut off by a Mongol blade.

The last easter egg in the Shinobi Den is the saddle with the bloody handprint and blood stains. This is likely the saddle that Jin’s first horse died after helping him escape from Clan Shimura.

Home of the First Shinobi Easter Eggs
If you chose to investigate the Home of the First Shinobi, you’ll find some items that give more details of Jin’s personal life on Ezo.
The mortar and pestle shows us that he was still crafting poison with wolfsbane along with medicine. With bounty hunters and the shogun after him, he likely felt the need to always keep some handy.

On a shelf are some burned adoption papers for Clan Shimura. This is the same paper that Lord Shimura burned when Jin renounced his adoption to Clan Shimura.
After Jin’s dishonorable actions up to that point, Lord Shimura wanted Jin to blame his friend Yuna for his actions. She would be killed and he would be able to join the Shimura legacy, but Jin refused as Yuna was the only reason he survived up to that point.

On top of some crates is Jin Sakai’s flute which you’ve likely heard throughout this mission. Jin Sakai’s theme will play throughout the mission with his melancholic theme song.

The last two easter eggs can be found upstairs. A small curved knife engraved with the name “Yuna” can be found there. You will be unable to wield it as it’s far too old.
Yuna is the first companion Jin makes in Ghost of Tsushima. This thief was often frowned upon and marked as an easy target for Jin’s transgressions, but without her help Jin would not have survived his first battle against the Mongols.

The last easter egg in the home is on the wall behind the knife. You’ll find drawings made by children and tiny hand prints. It would appear that Yuna came with Jin and the two started a family together.

Grave of the First Shinobi Easter Egg
After completing the mission, go towards the direction that Ugestu came from. You’ll find a path that leads to the shore where you can find a list of names written in Japanese Kanji and Katana.

This list of names is the staff of Sucker Punch Productions, the developers of Ghost of Yotei and Ghost of Tsushima. With the power of Google Image Translate, you can see what these names are!

At the end, Jin Sakai made a life together far away from Tsushima. While Jin missed his home dearly, he did not regret his actions and prepared for a potential conflict in his new home.
It’s likely he trained others in the way of the Shinobi and this would spread throughout Ezo. Unfortunately, this would eventually lead into the development of the Nine Tails shinobi that work for Lord Saito.
This is further supported by fact that the Nine Tails had a wolfsbane garden in Poison and Lies. Jin and his caretaker Yuriko were the first to develop this poison on Tsushima. While effective, this would result in the deaths of hundreds of civilians and would continue to haunt Japan even in the events of Ghost of Yotei.

And with that, we have closure on Jin Sakai’s story. It’s not necessarily a happy ending, but it’s a good ending nonetheless. And if you haven’t played Ghost of Tsushima, you should.
