Table of contents
Chapter 1
You begin the Undertaker’s Remembrance Quest as soon as you unlock her as a character.
A sky of clouds. In the distance the sun breaks through, only to disappear again.
“Go. To the place where they await you. Only there will you find your salvation.”
The father told me that those were the words of our God. I think he was seizing an opportunity to be rid of me.
Loathsome thing that I am, I do not fault him for it.
Chapter 2
Unlock Chapter 2 by visiting the new Great Hollows Shifting Earth as Undertaker. You don’t have to win.
A sky of clouds. They seem to be making their way across the sky with greater speed than usual.
My whole life has been a loathsome affair. I have no parents or family to call my own. At the monastery, the other children shunned me, as did the adults. I hunted beasts in the woods, partook of their flesh and blood, and was feared.
As I grew I learned that my constitution required a constant stream of power to consume. Once, I tried to resist, but the shakes and pain became unbearable. As the delirium reached its zenith, I had bitten my own arm without knowing.
Living was hard, but choosing death was unthinkable. Since then, I have lived the span of many lives.
Yet nobody understands me.
I remain alone.
Chapter 3 – Leather Monocle Case
You unlock Chapter 3 by defeating a Nightlord, possibly the Balancers.
A sky of clouds. The foaming waves appear darkest gray.
The power of Night spreads across the land. To me it feels like a blessing and a curse. Its taste is bitter, and it makes me nauseous. Yet somehow it soothes my ever-churning mind.
I wonder, will I change too, if I overcome this Night? What if I remain the same… I don’t want to relinquish this power the Night has brought…
Ah, that reminds me. I believe the Iron Menial said he had an important task for me, today.
[Begin Remembrance]
Speak to the Iron Menial. Fight the Iron Menial. Defeat the original Nightfarers, excluding Duchess and Revenant. Save your Ultimate Art for when you have to fight two at once.

It seems like everything is okay because you can speak to Iron Menial again like nothing happened. All that attempted murder has left you quite hungry though.

I am horribly parched…l must absorb power…
Turns out there’s some purple goo on the wall near the formerly closed door to the outside. Smash the Night. Lick the Night.

FromSoft wants you to feel ashamed of what you’ve just witnessed and makes you go read a book.

“Conspectus Adherents of the Gate Town of Liurnia”
It’s the book that the Scholar often reads.
It’s a hint to go speak to the Scholar, who will ask that you aid and abet him in faking his own death. He’s outside by the big headstone.

He gives you his Leather Monocle Case to show others as proof of his departure. It is a Key Item, but it’s also a very nice Relic, like Wylder’s Earring-tier.

The only tragic part is that it’s Blue and Undertaker doesn’t have a whole lot of those slots available. The same goes for The Will of the Balancers.
Chapter 4 – Dismembered Finger
As part of completing Chapter 3, you’ll unlock Chapter 4. You can’t announce the Scholar’s departure to anyone yet.
A sky of clouds. Humid and stifling.
He saw me…
I’m lucky it was only the Scholar. He can be trusted. As long as I do as he says, it will all be fine…
I’m also having hallucinations, as if everyone were frightened of me. I’m starting to believe it might be true. I feel sick. The melancholy is growing to be too much.
But when I clutch the leather case I was given, it grants me respite from my thoughts.
To unlock Chapter 5, you’ll need to defeat Heolstor as Undertaker. Doing so will grant you the Dismembered Finger automatically.

Chapter 5 – Undertaker’s Chalice
You unlock Chapter 5 after looting a Dismembered Finger from Heolstor as Undertaker.
A sky of clouds. Seabirds sing in the distance.
It’s been several days since the Scholar disappeared from the Roundtable Hold. He must have been serious…
The Priestess is trying to gather information as to his whereabouts. She believed him dedicated to her cause — his sudden absence puzzles her. Rare though it is, this is not the first time a Nightfarer has disappeared.
All I can do is remain true to our bargain.
[Begin Remembrance]
The Priestess she refers to is the Duchess, who you’ll need to speak to near the round table.

I know not where the Scholar can be found.
You were the last one to see him.
Do you have any idea at all?
Despite having the courage to lick goop off the wall in a public area of a shared space, the Undertaker can’t bring herself to pretend that the Scholar is dead. Head over to the Chapel near the altar and a prompt will appear so she can pray about it.

After she finishes her prayer, she needs to go talk to the Iron Menial, located at the north end of the west wing near the exit to the garden.

You plan to search for the Scholar?
Ahh, you feel compelled to act, I can see it in your eye.
In which case, I bear good tidings —
A new kind of Shifting Earth phenomenon has occurred.
The Scholar will have headed there, I am certain.A new kind of Shifting Earth — the Great Hollow…
A subterranean space in which Limveld’s secrets slumber, so it is said.
I urge you take all due caution.
Your next objective is to find the Scholar in the Great Hollow. This will trigger the Shifting Earth to spawn. He’s stuck in the back of the Western Underground Fort. You can use the Spectral Hawk Tree you spawn by, but the path through the courtyard, near the tree by the fort is more direct.

Unless you manage to get the circle to close there, I’d say you probably need to run past a bunch of enemies to get there in time, and that’s assuming you have backup. There was a Golden Hippopotamus in the courtyard and several Fire Knights that I skipped.

It’s treacherous to navigate the place where Scholar is, and it helps a bunch if you’ve done his Chapter 5 Remembrance quest because you’ll find him in the same spot.

Once you’ve retrieved the Scholar’s Primal Core, you’ve done all you need to do in the Great Hollow. After finishing your run, you’ll need to go talk to the Scholar in the Chapel.

The curse that binds you…is the need to claim strength as payment for your own.
This is a crystal found below Limveld.
A special object that yields power by catalysing one’s thoughts.
Most of them were ruined through exposure to the Night, but this crystal is stabilised, churned by Night to a state of equilibrium.
It’s not much, but it will sate your thirst. This endeavour has proved meaningful to me, as well.
I wish to save this world. And I want to share the truth with my old friends.
To that end, please indulge me once more.
I don’t know when the chance will come. But one day my kind will ask you for answers.
You are the only one I dare depend on.
Please, stand witness to our legacy.
He’ll give you the Night-Hued Glass as a reward, which (hopefully!) spells the end for your walli-pop days. Keep talking to him and he’ll also give you some Bundled Paper, after which the Remembrance concludes.

While both of those are Key Items, you do get the Undertaker’s Chalice as an actual usable reward.

Chapter 6
You unlock Chapter 6 as soon as you complete the Chapter 5 Remembrance.
A sky of clouds. The wind is strong.
The Scholar has returned. I’m surprised he has regained his form considering what he was reduced to…
As I wiped my mouth of the stains of Night, I began to ponder. Was I attempting to atone for my sins? I cannot say for certain. He knew my secret, perhaps I was simply scared.
Though I failed to uphold my promise, he chose me a second time — I can only assume he saw some use in me yet.
I feel a calmness when holding the glass he gave me. Perhaps this will help me overcome the hunger. Without feasting on the succor of Night.
Chapter 7 – Glass Necklace, Remembrance Skin
To unlock Chapter 7 and complete her entire Remembrance quest, you must defeat Heolstor as Undertaker again but drop leave the Dismembered Finger behind.
A sky of clouds. A few rays of sunlight peek through.
My life had been a loathsome affair.
Those around me kept their distance as I moved from place to place. At times I was pressed into battle, and piled the corpses high.
What could be a path to peace had been offered to me, and the sacrifices would be worth it.
For me, with little else but bloodshed to call a talent, perhaps I had found my purpose.
I have come to believe it is, now.
The first time you defeat Heolstor, you take a little piece of him with you, as a treat. You hold onto the Dismembered Finger in your Key Items, and the next time you defeat him, you’ll find it as a consumable item in your inventory.

You just have to drop it from your inventory like you would any other item. You don’t need it anymore now that you have the Scholar’s fancy piece of Night-hued Glass to suck on.
You receive the Glass Necklace Relic and the Undertaker’s Remembrance skin (and unlock Chapter7) upon loading back into the Roundtable Hold.

The Remembrance Skin just swaps out the Undertaker’s ring necklace for the Night-hued Glass.
