This guide covers the Onboarding Facility Quests in Grounded 2 and all collectibles found within.

Waking Up

After the initial Cutscenes we’ll wake up and find ourselves in the Onboarding Facility. This acts as Grounded 2’s Tutorial, explaining the very basics of gathering, crafting, and Combat.

After we exit the intial room, head into the small room on the left where we can pick up the “Sense of Dread” Audio Log File. This brief audio log will be one of many found within Brookhollow Park and provides lores.

In this case, showing an Employee’s concerns over heavily redacted files and secretive preparation for the Ceremony, shown in the opening sequence.

While we’ll detail the locations of the Audio Logs and Data Files, keep in mind that these are Collectible Lore Items. They are not required for completion of the story, but will expand on what the story is told through quests and gameplay.

Unlock S.C.A.B. 2K

If we head to the right after exiting the room, we’ll reach a glass door we cannot open, and to the right of it, another room we can head through. We’ll pass through, listening to the dialogue, and be able to hop over some debris to reach the Pneumatic Transit System tube.

Head down the tube, and we’ll be able to interact with the machine to our immediate left to acquire our S.C.A.B. 2K.

This device is what relays our vitals, like Health, Hunger, and Thirst, as well as acting as our map for the Park.

It will also grant us access to some locked areas, like the door in front of us, which leads into a hallway to progress forward.

This Hallway also contains three more Audio Log Files, starting with the two into the immediate hallway, “Ms. Beaumont’s Reminder” and “Ms. Beaumont’s Warning” which can be collected by interacting with the speaker panels in the hallway.

After another small room, we’ll come across the next Audio Log File, “Ms. Beaumont’s Inspiring Words”, next to the Employee Portraits in the next hallway.

Next, we’ll be able to head down to a locker room, containing yet another Audio Log File, “Situation Update”, sitting on the bench directly in front of us.

Gathering and Crafting

This next room introduces the Resource Analyzer, gathering, and Crafting. Resource Analyzers going forward will only be found inside Ranger Outposts across the Park. Collect a bunch of Pebblets, Sprigs, Sap, and Plant Fiber scattered across the room. Analyzing each of these materials unlocks new crafting recipes. Below are the key unlocks from them.

ResourceRecipe 1Recipe 2
Plant FiberBandagesCrude Rope
PebbletPebblet Spear
SapTorchSap Sconce
SprigRoasting SpitSprig Bow

Go ahead and analyze the resources above and craft a Pebblet Spear and some bandages. Crafting can be done by opening the Crafting Menu (PC Default is C), Bandages and Torches can also be accessed via Quick-Craft Radial Menu (PC Default is Z).

We’ll need the Spear at a minimum for the next room, but not necessarily the bandages, despite being a Combat tutorial. The bandages will be useful if opting to practice Perfect Blocks here, and are nice to have on hand anyway.

Combat Training

In this combat training room, we’ll find a button. Pressing it will spawn two Lawn Mites, the weakest of the Park’s aggressive insects.

We can spawn as many of these Mites as we’d like, though only 2 at a time. It is entirely optional, but we can unlock the Parry Master Passive Mutation here as well. Unfortunately, we cannot unlock Javelineer, the Weapon Passive Mutation for Spears, in this room.

If desired, we can max Parry Master, which will give us an edge in all combat going forward, which will take a few minutes of parrying these mites.

Once we’re done with the combat training, we can proceed into the room on the right where we’ll find our final Audio Log File of the Onboarding Facility, “Evacuation Woes”, in the corner of the room.

Continue up the path hall and into the room to answer the call that’s been ringing since finishing the combat room below.

Here, we’ll find out that BURG.L is still functioning enough to reach out or help, only to be cut off by the Mysterious Stranger, concluding the First Quest of Grounded 2.

Turn to the right and jump out the broken window and through the door straight ahead to head out into Brookhollow Park and truly begin the adventure.
