Star Citizen’s single player campaign Squadron 42 has been expected all year-long along with Game Update 3.0. While it is likely that very soon the update will go live to the public, Squadron 42 still seems a bit too far into the future.
Cloud Imperium Games and RSI* released a brand new trailer, featuring Mark Hamill’s character Steve “Old Man” Colton. In it he meets his new Wingman, highlighting the unique player-character interactions integral to the upcoming campaign.
Update on Star Citizen 3.0 and Squadron 42 | Intervew with Chris Roberts
Star Citizen has been in development for over 5 years now and it is still not anywhere near completed and ready for a full release. Patch 3.0 is expected to bring a ton of new content, new systems and features that will significantly expand and improve the gameplay possibilities by introducing many new planets available for exploration.
I’ve been following the game since some time around 2012 and have access as a backer since early 2015. I’ve got a special section ready and waiting for Star Citizen to start bringing us more and realistic news on its development, not that the weekly ATV show is bad, it just doesn’t present any real schedule or time frame of what’s to come and WHEN. Take a look at my Introducing Star Citizen article. It will bring you up to speed with what the game is about and why am I still excited about the project, even after all the delays (Squadron 42 was announced to be released more than a year ago, then delayed, same happened to 3.0)

RSI, or Roberts Space Industries, is actually a spacecraft manufacturer within the persistent-world game “Star Citizen” and its companion single-player spaceflight sim, “Squadron 42.” RSI is also your portal for information, updates, and purchases of your very own spacecraft with which to trade, plunder, and protect the citizens of Star Citizen.
