Andy Serkis, the actor and voice behind the villain in the new Star Wars trilogy – Snoke, has teased a possible return for his character in the upcoming Episode IX, directed by J.J. Abrams. Is it possible that one can survive a slice in two by a Lightsaber? Of course it is, look at Darth Maul!

Did Star Wars The Last Jedi REALLY Reveal the Mystery of Rey’s Parents?

In The Last Jedi we saw the leader of The First Order being sliced in two halves with a lightsaber by Kylo Ren. How can one survive such an event? While we know extremely little about Snoke’s origins and his origins and history, we quickly accepted him as the new villain in this trilogy. His death in Episode VIII was a shock to most viewers (me included), but if felt right and appropriate. This was perhaps the best way to show Kylo’s rising to power and a demonstration of his pure and true ambitions.

In a recent interview for SlashFilm Andy Serkis said the following:

Look, it’s Star Wars, so you never know how life, or whether life can be come back to or not. Whether you can be resuscitated or brought back. I was shocked. Dramatically, it felt absolutely right for that moment in the film, so I didn’t question it. I just think it’s a very, very important scene, so I didn’t question it. But I do, I know it’s left fans feeling like, that they were really searching for something there. And what I’m saying is, who knows?

This alone would serve as a good enough hint to start all kinds of rumors. However, later on he also clarifies that he has not spoken yet with J.J Abrams, who created Snoke for The Force Awakens and will return to finish the new trilogy with Episode IX.

J.J. Abrams to write and direct Star Wars Episode IX

Here’s my theory on should and could Snoke return! He should, absolutely! Here’s the catch. We may see Snoke’s origins. Some flashbacks of how he came to power. Bits and pieces have been explained already, but The First Order is still a mystery. One that begs more attention and not just in Dictionaries and Literature (Comics and Novels). it deserves its spot on the big screen and Episode IX could be the perfect place for us to learn more about Snoke and… why not Phasma. She may appear to be killed in The Last Jedi, but we know that death doesn’t come by easy to epic characters in this franchise. Especially beloved ones by the fans and Gwendoline Christie’s villain is exactly that. She was even proclaimed by some as the “Boba Fett of the New Trilogy”.

And what do you think? Should we see Snoke in Episode IX or not? And why!
