Update 1.11 Patch Notes have been released!
Blade of Galadriel is the 3rd paid DLC to Shadow of War and first story expansion to the game. Its release on 6th February is accompanied by a FREE DLC to the core game. Players who have not purchased the new DLC and don’t own the Gold Edition or an Expansion Pass, will not be able to play as Eltariel, but many of the new features – like new orc traits, animations, voices, outfits and so on – will be available for free to the owners of the base game.
Middle-earth: Shadow of War Thoughts on the Ending
In the new story Talion remains on the sidelines as the player takes control of Eltariel in a brand new story arc that follows her actions after the epic fight between her, Celebrimbor and Sauron at the top of Barad-dur from the Ending of Act 3. Her left hand is still missing the 2 fingers from that duel.
How to get Legendary Orcs and Gear in Shadow of War
The DLC introduces a number of new characters. Most of them will be able to join your armies and participate in the open world after the story ends (these orcs will appear in your Garrison). Eltariel has a different set of abilities. Her arsenal has some similarities to Talion’s skills, but since she is a dual-wielding Assassin, players get to see a number of new attack animations.
Her main special power is the Cone of Light. It can be used to blind opponents and dominate and mount beasts among other things. She can also heal herself during combat without the need to consume and dominate her opponents.
Shadow of War All Skills and Upgrades: The Ultimate Beginners Guide
Eltariel can recruit uruk captains and warchiefs for her cause, but not in the same way as Talion did it in Shadow of War’s base game. She now has Talion’s ring, but her followers don’t come as a result of domination. She prefers to convince the uruks of Mordor to join her in other ways – by helping them or defeating them in combat to prove herself worthy.
Shadow of War Legendary Gear Sets Guide
The Blade of Galadriel DLC also brings new legendary gear. Eltariel will be able to collect legendary armor and weapons. The biggest difference is in the way she obtains them. All new Legendary sets are designed for her and her abilities.
This gear is obtained by completing Gear Missions across Mordor. The second bonus stat on her gear is a hand-picked one, not randomly generated like in Talion’s legendary sets. Eltariel’s gear upgrade challenges are also a lot less RNG and more focused on providing a real and entertaining challenge for the player. There are 5 Legendary sets uniquely designed for Eltariel and her skills. 4 of them are obtainable by completing Gear Missions, the 5th one – the Light Bringer – is by far the best one and is hardest to earn. You get one piece of that set for completing all Gear Missions in each of the 4 unlocked regions in this DLC. After you complete all, a special mission unlocks in Gorgoroth, which will grant you the last 2 items of the set. The Light Bringer is by far the best and most useful gear in the Expansion.
