The Trial of Anubis Quest gives 1000 XP and is for players level ~42. To start this Trial, simply walk into the circled with flashy animations area. A short cinematic will play and the boss will spawn. Best preparations for this fight include a Light Bow with an upgraded Quiver. The advantage of the Light Bow is that it shoots fast and when you use it on the boss, you can fire three arrows one after another quickly.
Anubis is invincible to your melee weapons thanks to an aura that stops you from reaching the boss. You have to use a bow to damage him. Aim for the light circle on his chest, but be mindful, it disappears from time to time. Using the Light Bow will allow you to damage him faster and is the most efficient ranged weapon for this fight.
When Bayek is in danger of some special attack, his body will flash in red, notifying you of an incoming danger. Usually this is a red beam with a burning hyena, a red circle or a red wide telegraph of black smoke.
There will be two types of hyenas that Anubis calls to his aid.
Ghostly Burning Hyenas – these spawn from the center (where the boss is) and run in a straight line towards you. It’s easy to avoid them – simply strafing (dodging) to one side when the animal is approaching you. Aim your strafing to the sides exactly, because if you are doing it in a diagonal line, some times the distance may not be enough and the beast will still damage you. If you get two spawning at the same time, kill one of them with your bow or it may be difficult to avoid them both with one move.
Real Hyenas – these spawn from the ground only once during the fight and will attack and chase you until you kill them. They are just as weak as the normal hyenas you encounter in the open world, but when they surround you, you may find yourself in trouble.
The first few attacks are just the Ghostly Burning Hyenas. Keep shooting the boss every time you get a chance in between the spawns. His other special attack that Anubis does from the beginning all the way until the end is a massive wave of “smoke”. Once again – run to the side to avoid the marked area and don’t go back until the smoke clears up a few seconds later.
From time to time additional arrows will spawn on the ground. Always try to pick them up to refill your quiver.
The next special wave of adds are the Anubis soldiers – once again, they spawn from the ground and are real enemies that you can fight the way you fight them in the open world. I suggest you save your Overpower Attack for one of them, then use the Overpower Chain Combo (if you have the skill) to kill off one more extra opponent nearby.
When Anubis spawns the “fence” around you, break it up with your sword and escape the enclosed space. You are at a disadvantage fighting inside. If you keep damaging the fence, it will all despawn in a moment, but it’s enough if you just break a small portion of it, enough for you to get out of the area.
Around the same time as the Anubis Soldiers wave spawns, Anubis will start spawning red circles that turn into the same deadly smoke. When you see a red circle on your feet, move out.
