The Apeiron KOTOR Remake project hit a dead end after Lucasfilm and Disney officially requested development to stop and everything be scrapped
With an official letter, signed by Deputy Chief Counsel Rhonda T. Hjort, Disney and Lufasfilm declared that the Apeiron KOTOR project uses the Star Wars license without a given permission for that. KOTOR, by the way, stands for Knights of the Old Republic – arguably the best Star Wars RPG ever made and one of BioWare’s best titles ever.
The Apeiron project was around for quite some time and was moving forward at a slow pace. It was like a dream for so many of us KOTOR fans – one day we will be able to relive the experience again while we enjoy the advantages of modern technology.
Apeiron was a fan-made remake of the full KOTOR game with the Unreal engine. From the images and video demos that have been released over the past few months and even years, you can easily tell that the small team was working tirelessly to accomplish their big dream.
The official twitter message from Poem Studios announces that they cannot continue any more and are giving up the fight to find a possible way for Apeiron to be completed:
It's with a great sadness that I'm posting today; I recently received a letter from Lucasfilm instructing Poem to end production on Apeiron. After a few days, I've exhausted my options to keep it afloat; we knew this day was a possibility. I'm sorry and may the force be with you pic.twitter.com/OCRmMIjwGT

And here is the full text of the letter they received from Disney:
A while back rumors said this was going to happen. There were plans for development to continue, but without the Star Wars license. Whatever happens, you can be sure that I will keep you up to date.
