If you thought that last year CD Projekt RED blew you away with their E3 presentation, wait until you hear and see everything the studio has for you this year! Their highly anticipated game Cyberpunk 2077 received a new cinematic trailer, a release date, detailed information about the game editions and pre-order bonuses and so much more! It could not be a Cyberpunk 2077 reveal without a secret hidden message for the fans. And let’s not forget that the single most amazing highlight of not just the Microsoft press-conference, but likely for the whole E3 was the live on-stage appearance of Keanu Reeves himself!
CYBERPUNK 2077 RELEASE DATE AND GAME EDITIONS
Let’s start from the top! Cyberpunk 2077 has an official release date and it’s less than an year from now! The game comes out on April 16, 2020.

As of the time of this publish the Collector’s Edition is not yet available in all local stores. Also it is important to note that the PC version of the game is currently only available for Digital Purchase. Some localized restrictions prevent CD Projekt Red from offering the Collector’s Edition in North America, but this doesn’t mean you can’t ship it from elsewhere (I did that with my SWTOR Collector’s Edition – shipped from Amazon US to Bulgaria :P)

THE E3 2019 HIDDEN MESSAGE
CD Projekt RED released two short videos, showcasing the contents of the game’s two editions. In the Standard Edition video there was a hidden message. The fact that there was a message should surprise nobody at this point. The way this message was hidden, though, was a bit more clever and advanced than the previous time.
Thanks to Reddit and a few clever and quick folks from the community, you don’t need to do the digging. Instead, here is the contents of the message as well as a Dropbox link where you can find two PDF files with high quality wallpapers and a “Thank you” note.
Finally, after months of preparation, we can share with you two big things we have been hard at work on — CP2077’s cinematic story trailer and a brand new gameplay demo! Yes, yes, we know — for now, the demo is only available to the lucky ones who managed to get tickets to E3 and the rest of you will have to wait until gamescom or the public dev Q&A unveiling stream at PAX in August. Yeah, we can already feel the bashing you’re gonna give us online :(. “Why are you not treating us fair”, “why is the gameplay not being released right away?”. The reason is we want to make the most out of the months of work we put into the demo and first showcase gameplay live at E3 and gamescom. Releasing gameplay right away would make the gamescom presentations pointless and would significantly limit our chance to build hype. Why do we need to build hype? To get more gamers interested in CP2077 and, hopefully, convince them to give it a go. We are putting our hearts and souls into making CP2077 a great game and we would like as many gamers as possible to find out about it and experience its amazing story. Also, hype can turn into sales (after all, we are not a charity), and good sales allow us to grow, take creative risks and deliver new, great games for you to enjoy.
And let’s not forget about one more super important announcement — the release date. Less than a year from now, on April 16th, 2020, you’ll finally be able to sink your teeth into Cyberpunk 2077.
As you probably noticed, we prepared 2 editions of the game. Why only two? Because when we pre-order ourselves, we don’t like to go to Wikipedia to compare content. We have a simple deal: there’s the standard edition, the one we think most gamers will choose, and a limited Collector’s Edition. While we’re pretty proud of the CE, we’d like to turn your attention to that first one. Why? Because we have really maxed out the physical capacity of the box with goodies. We think this raises the bar for “standard” and we hope you’ll think so, too. Also, since pre-orders are live, you might be wondering if there’s any point in placing an order now. Yes, if you want to give us some extra support. Pre-orders help us build anticipation — the more copies you pre-order, the more likely it is for us to get retail (both digital and physical) behind the game. Therefore, if you like what you see, we will appreciate you “voting yes” for CP2077 with a pre-order. If you are still hesitating though, we would rather you wait for more materials or reviews. Our goal is for you to truly enjoy CP2077 and not regret a pre-order.
Take care and looking forward to seeing you in Night City!

THE CYBERPUNK 2077 E3 2019 CINEMATIC TRAILER
The presentation began with the release of a new cinematic trailer, which ended with Keanu Reeve’s in-game character reveal that completely blew me away. Keanu was also live on stage to present the game during Microsoft’s Press-Conference on June 9.
The short story we get to see in the trailer is from Male V’s perspective. After a successfully completed job, V returns to collect the reward, but instead barely survives. A “Rebooting” screen appears and we see Keanu’s character waking V up with a line that instantly became classic: “Wake the fuck up, Samurai! We have a city to burn!”
Check out the trailer below.
Keanu’s character is called Johny Silverhand – a singer and ex-military, who first appears in the Cyberpunk 2013 edition of the tabletop game. He was eventually killed off there, but his body was never recovered. The song at the very end of the trailer is Johny’s Chippin’ in. Johny’s music can also be heard in the last year’s E3 trailer of the game.
Keanu showed up under thunderous applause on the Microsoft stage for a few minutes to present the game and show us a short clip with the release date at the end.
Keanu’s “The feeling of being there, of walking the streets of the future, is really going to be breathtaking” was met immediately with a shout from a fan “You are breathtaking”. Keanu stumbled for a split second and responded in king with “You are breathtaking. You’re all breathtaking”.

CD Projekt RED apparently offered the guy from the audience, who shouted at Keanu, a Collector’s Edition of the game. Interestingly enough, he rejected it politely and asked that the funds be instead be donated.
If I was him, and I had access to the Collector’s Edition, I’d probably do the same. It’s not professional of me to so openly share my love for this studio, but I am absolutely willing to throw any money I can spare at them. If there is one company that stands out in their relations and behavior towards their customers (the gamers!), that, no doubt, is CD Projekt RED. I bought a whole bunch of items from their store not two weeks ago. Now I am waiting for fresh supplies in the Cyberpunk 2077’s category and will order some more. The Samurai jacket is insanely cool, by the way!
THE NEW BEHIND-CLOSED-DOORS GAMEPLAY DEMO
E3 2019 is not over. The official announcements and reveals are, at least when it comes to this game. However, I will be keeping an eye or four for more news.
The new gameplay demo promises to show how much the game’s development has progressed since last year’s E3 presentation. If you are not among the media or a ticket holder, you will not be able to see it until later this year.
Marcin’s message very clearly explained the reasoning behind this choice. It is not because the studio wants to make you hate and thrash them, but:
The reason is we want to make the most out of the months of work we put into the demo and first showcase gameplay live at E3 and gamescom. Releasing gameplay right away would make the gamescom presentations pointless and would significantly limit our chance to build hype. Why do we need to build hype? To get more gamers interested in CP2077 and, hopefully, convince them to give it a go.
CYBERPUNK 2077 E3 2019 BOOTH LOCATION
If you happen to be at E3 and haven’t visited the Cyberpunk 2077 booth yet, do that! Surprises await you there, like Mike Pondsmith (creator of Cyberpunk 2020 – the original tabletop game), goodies and cosplay. You will find booth 1023 here:
CYBERPUNK 2077 TO BENEFIT FROM NVIDIA RAY TRACING
It is official. Nvidia announced that Cyberpunk 2077 will launch with full real-time ray tracing:
Ray tracing allows us to realistically portray how light behaves in a crowded urban environment,” said Adam Badowski, Head of Studio, CD PROJEKT RED. “Thanks to this technology, we can add another layer of depth and verticality to the already impressive megacity the game takes place in.
I am sitting on my edge here, hoping to hear more stuff about the game while E3 lasts. If there is anything, I will be updating this article in the next few days. Meanwhile, we have a city to burn, Choomba!
