How to find all One-Handed Swords available in Francia, part of the Siege if Paris DLC in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla with locations and stats!

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s second expansion is called The Siege of Paris. It released on August 12 2021 and brought a brand new map – Francia – for Eivor to explore.

The expansion also marked the introduction of the Short Sword as a new type of melee weapon available in the game. The very first short sword was actually available as a purchaseable item from the Sigrblot Festival vendor and the festival started a few days before the expansion launched.

There are four more short swords available in Francia. Some of them are obtainable through the main storyline, others can be discovered by exploring the land of Francia. Below is a full list of all four short swords and detailed information on how to get each one of them!

If you need a hand in figuring out how to start Siege of Paris and get to Francia, I have just the guide to help you with that!

There’s a lot of roaming around the map to collect these, same as with the Scythe Weapons Locations in Francia. If you opt to do the Rebel Missions in Francia first, this might allow you to unlock some of the Fast Travel locations (spawn points). Or… vise versa.

How to get Egbert one-handed sword

Egbert belongs to the Bear skill set. This one-handed sword is available as part of a World event called “Ulfberht’s trail”.

To complete the “Ulfberht’s trial” event go to Blihaut, which is in the south-eastern part of Francia, in the Melunois region.

When you reach that spot on the map, you will find the thief’s camp and a note next to the fire.

Talk to him. There will be three choices you can make to determine the outcome of this discussion:

  • Talk him into giving you the sword (requires Charisma level 2)
  • Pay him 3000 coins
  • Fight him

The first option is certainly the most innovative and the rarest of all in other quests like this one in the game. If you need some tips on how to win at Flyting to level up your Charisma, check out the guide we have for this gameplay mechanic.

Paying him will also grant you the sword, but why give a thief 3000 coins?

The third option is the most challenging – defat Bo. This NPC is a mini-boss with a few special abilities, most notable of which is the flash grenade.

Bo also has the usual weak spots for ranged attacks.

The Egbert one-handed sword has the following features:

  • Skill Tree sign: Bear (Melee)
  • Tier: Flawless 4/10
  • Perk: “Increase Stun after each hit”
    Stacks:: 10
    Bonus: 2.5 to 25.0 Stun
  • Runes: Two circular ones before upgrading it

How to get Ring-Sword one-handed sword

The Ring-Sword gets unlocked for you during a quest (named Skal) from the main storyline of the expansion (near the end). During a certain festivity event. The quest is automatically given to you, so there’s no way you will miss it.

You can win the Ring-Sword by winning a race. The race is against humans and pigs and it is ridiculously easy to win. All you have to do is run two laps.

To start the Pig Races, talk with Toka. She will give you the sword as a reward after you win.

The Ring-Sword has the following features:

  • Skill Tree sign: Raven (Assassin)
  • Tier: Flawless 4/10
  • Perk: “Increase Critical Chance when dodging”
    Duration: 2.5s
    Bonus: +30.0% Critical Chance
  • Runes: Two circular ones before upgrading it

Where to find Durendal one-handed sword

Durendal is a Flawless tier short sword. It is marked with the sign of the Bear, which means that all Bear passive skills will benefit it.

Durendal is available from a chest in Aquila, located in south Evresin, just south of Evreux.

How to find Joyeuse one-handed sword

I’ve saved the best for last. Joyeuse is not nessecerity the best one-handed sword in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, but it may very well be the best-looking one so far. To get this beauty, I suggest you take a look at my Hidden quest guide, which rewards you with this sword when you complete it.

In short: Joyeuse can be obtained from a chest located inside the secret Hidden Ones Bureau in Paris, which is locked. You will need three keys to unlock the door and enter. The keys are in Francia.

Out of the four one-handed swords available in Francia, the Joyeuse is the only one that comes directly in its Mythical tier and almost fully upgraded.

The Joyeuse one-handed sword has the following features:

  • Skill Tree sign: Wolf (Ranged)
  • Tier: Flawless 7/10
  • Perk: “Temporary poison your weapon after 5 successive Heavy hits”
    Duration: 5s
  • Runes: One square and Two circular ones.

Bonus one-handed swords

While there are only four one-handed swords available for earning through gameplay in Francia (for now), I wanted to include a few more that popped around that expansion. The Coil sword, which is a store item, but will at some point be available at Reda’s Shop. Skrofnung is available for purchase from the festival vendor during the Sigrblot event. More on these below.

Coil Sword from the Ubisoft Store

At the release of the expansion there is one one-handed sword available in the Ubisoft in-game store. It’s called Coil and is part of the Jormungandr gear pack.

The Coil Sword has the following features:

  • Skill Tree sign: Raven (Assassin)
  • Tier: Depends on your highest gear at the time of purchase
  • Perk: “Increase damage taken by 5%. Increase Melee Damage when equipped”
    Bonus: +20.0 Melee Damage
  • Runes: Depends on your highest gear at the time of purchase

Skrofnung one-handed sword from Sigrblot

The Sigrblot festival started a few days before The Siege of Paris’s launch. Skfornung is the very first one-handed sword added to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Unlike the first four in this guide, Skrofnung is available to all players, who own the base game as the festival is a free event happening in your Settlement in England.

To learn how to participate in Sigrblot events and get Skrofnung, check out my guide for this event and hurry up because it ends on August 19.

Skrofnung has the following features:

  • Skill Tree sign: Wolf (Ranged)
  • Tier: Superior 1/10
  • Perk: “Dodging temporarily increases Ability Damage”
    Duration: 2.5s
    Bonus: +10.0 Ability Damage
  • Runes: One circular slot

If you fancy dual-wileding one-handed swords, you can use the Transmog feature to change the appearance of any short sword into another and make it look as if you are dual-wielding two identical weapons. You will, of course, keep the unique stats and perks from each sword, it’s only their appearance that will be changed. More about that in my guide on how to change items’ appearance in AC Valhalla.

This concludes my guide showing you the One-Handed Swords locations in Francia, the new region released with The Siege of Paris DLC for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

I have a master guide containing all weapons and shields locations in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla (the base game). If you feel like doing some more treasure hunting, check it out!

Check out the rest of my Assassin’s Creed: The Siege of Paris coverage. This expansion is now available for a stand-alone purchase or as part of the Season Pass. Learn more about the purchase availability at the Ubisoft website.
