Marvel announced five-issue comic book series Star Wars: Crimson Reign - a story about Qi'ra and her quest for revenge in the Age of Empire!
Qi’ra ‘s appearance in the War of the Bounty Hunters crossover comic book series (written by Charles Soule) was very surprising and very warmly received.
Charles Soule is also the writer of the new upcoming five-issue limited comic book series Star Wars: Crimson Reign. He revealed earlier this year that he has “a bigger story I’m going to tell with Qi’ra and Crimson Dawn”.
Charles Soule teams up with artist Steven Cummings for this new story and promise “major repercussions on the Star Wars galaxy” as the preview on marvel.com states!
The series promises to shed even more light on the untold history of the Star Wars galaxy during the Age of Rebellion and will feature the return of beloved characters, shocking twists, epic feats of the Force and a story that will reach from Star Wars’ darkest underworld all the way to the Imperial Palace on Coruscant.

The covers are most likely not in order, because what seems to be the cover for Issue 1 appears here in position 4.
So then, what is so special about this comic book series that makes me excited for it over any other?
I am a fan of the Han Solo Movie and despite the bad reviews it got, I liked it. Well, almost all of it. It told a fun and important story of Han’s origins and on top of that it brought The Mother of Dragons to the Star Wars franchise!
The two stand-alone movies (Solo: A Star Wars Story and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) were interesting, well placed in the timeline and revealed great new details about known events and also told brand new stories! Rogue One quickly took a leading place in my personal list of “Best Star Wars movies”!
Qi’ra is a unique character. She first appeared in Solo: A Star Wars Story. Her personal growth and the way she evolves and changes during the course of the movie is entertaining to watch, but also leaves plenty to our imagination. What will she do next? Where would she end up? How her story unfolds?
Star Wars: Crimson Reign will include well-known heroes and villains as well as new ones. We will see more from the Knights of Ren, for example. Personally after reading the Kylo Ren origin story comic book, I want to see and read about the Knights of Ren more and more.
In the few pages we get to preview from the first issue we see Qi’ra explaining the leadership of the Sith as a pyramid, where on the top sits the one person in the whole galaxy that is truly free.
Qi’ra is going against the two most powerful people in her time – Darth Sidious and his apprentice Darth Vader. Can it get more exciting than that?
Well, it can. But I don’t think we are going to see Disney and Marvel dive into the ancient lore of the galaxy (again) for some new canon stories. Until that happens, I will be more than happy to read about Qi’ra’s new adventures in one of the darkest periods the Star Wars has ever taken us through – the Age of the Empire!
