After being postponed and delayed multiple times, we finally got THE news! LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga releases on April 5th!

Lucasfilm Games and LEGO announced on Twitter that the long-awaited game LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will release on April 5, 2022. A surprise announcement out of the blue to be sure, but a welcomed one.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will let you re-live all 9 films in a fun and refreshing way.

What can we expect from the game?

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will offer more than 20 unlockable planets as you progress through the story. Go right to the main quest or have fun exploring some iconic locations.

The complete list of planets includes Ajan Kloss, Cantonica, Yavin 4, Kijimi, Kamino, Kashyyyk, Geonosis, Tatooine, Naboo, Pasaana, D’qar, Dagobah, Utapau, Mustafar, Crait, Bespin, Hoth, Kef Bir, Endor, Ahch-To, Jakku, Takodana and Exegol.

You’ll be able to choose from over 300 characters across all Skywalker Saga! Fan favorites like Darth Vader, R2-D2, Commander Cody, or less popular ones like Jar Jar Binks, Captain Phasma, and even Jabba the Hutt.

LEGI Star Wars The Skywalker Saga - Duel scene

Characters are now divided into 9 classes: Jedi, Hero, Scavenger, Scoundrel, Bounty Hunter, Villain, Dark Side, Astromech Droid and Protocol Droid. Each class with a set of abilities that require “Kyber Bricks” to be upgraded.

There are two ways to progress through the campaign; the “standard” way of my preferred one, “free mode”. With “free mode” you can pick any character and play any level with it. If you ask me, I’m going to duel General Grievous with Darth Maul right after I finish the main story.

As with every LEGO game, there isn’t a right way to play it. If you are a one-man army then feel free to blast every door and tear down the enemy lines, but in case you prefer the stealthy approach then you can also go down that route.

Get in that cockpit, pilot! What is Star Wars without spaceships? Destroy some AT-ATs on your Snowspeeder or hunt down rebel scum in a TIE Fighter. Space battles look better than ever!

LEGO Darth Vader

Skill expression is a very important thing in almost every game, especially a Star Wars one. And while this may not be as intense as dueling 1v1 in Battlefront 2, aiming precisely or messing up a combo will make the difference between defeating a boss or breaking into pieces (literally).

And last but not least, it wouldn’t be a LEGO game without its classic humor. Turn lightsabers into baguettes, have the dialogues sound like mumble, make all civilians be GMK droids, bring a Porg as your companion and many more. Select one mode or combine them as you wish, whatever makes you laugh!

Game Editions and Launch details

The deluxe edition includes a character collection bundle and a Luke Skywalker with blue milk minifigure (physical copy only).

LEGO: Star Wars The Skywalker Saga will be available on PC, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X/S.

LEGO Star Wars The Skywalker Saga Deluxe Package

It has been quite a while without a Star Wars game and until “Star Wars Eclipse” releases, it’s safe to assume LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will make our waiting much easier.

The new gameplay trailer

Check out the new gameplay overview trailer below.

With “Star Wars Celebration” getting closer each day, fans are looking forward to seeing what the future holds for us. So far, we know about The Acolyte, Ahsoka’s series, The Mandalorian season 3, more High Republic books, a new comics series by Dark Horse, and Star Wars Eclipse.

Despite the announcements, everything can change (as it had before). Sometimes adjustments need to be made but I’m really confident in the direction Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni are taking the whole Star Wars franchise. We can only speculate about the shows and games that are being developed but until May, patience is our best friend.
