Adrian by Adrian|

This guide will show you how to start the Scavenging Hunt quest for the Enhanced Feline Gear from the Cat School witcher set, where to find and obtain all the diagrams and the requirements to craft the armor and weapons in The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt.

This guide is up-to-date for The Witcher 3 Next-Gen version (Update 4.04)

The Cat School or Feline gear is focused on increasing your defenses as well as your chance to make the enemies bleed. It is a very powerful light armor set especially since you can use it after reaching level 23, just three levels higher than the previous tier.

There is no need to go out of your way to find the map fragment that will start the quest for you.

But, if you want to get the map fragment, visit Blackbough. It’s just west of Crow’s Perch in Velen. This one is also mentioned in our guide to the Merchants in the Witcher 3 you have to visit!

Purchase the map to start the quest Scavenger Hunt: Cat School Gear Upgrade Diagrams Part 1.

The Enhanced Feline set requires level 23 to wear. I’d recommend that you start this quest as soon as you hit level 23. Since there are very few enemies to fight, you won’t have any problems.

Visual Overview of the set

The set is both a statistical improvement as well as visual upgrade to the basic Cat School Gear Set. It features long sleaved shirt under thick dark-blue vest. The brown accents are visible on the boots and bracelets.

How to Craft the Armor and Weapons

This is the second tier of Cat School Gear. To craft the Enhanced Feline armor pieces and swords, you need to have first crafted the basic Feline Witcher gear set, becaue the pieces are required for this crafting upgrade. If you need to, consult the guide on how to find and craft the Feline Witcher gear.

Crafting Materials Requirements

Most of the materials are relatively easy to get. You can purchase them from the merchants that you visit to craft the gear. Remember that you can also dismantle things to get materials. Here are three rare ones for this tier:

Ruby Dust
Can be purchased from merchants. You can obtain it by dismantling Rubies, which you loot while you explore and open chests and such.

Witcher 3 Dark Steel Plate

Dark Steel Plate
Can be looted, purchased, or crafted from Dark Steel Ingots. You can dismantle some gear pieces.

Witcher 3 Dark Iron Ore

Dark Iron Ore
Can be purchased from Armorers and other craftsmen and merchants. You can also craft it yourself from Dark Steel Ingots.

Where to find an Armorer and Blacksmith

It doesn’t matter which NPCs you visit to craft the items, but if you are not sure, I will mention two easily accessible and already available to you from your previous journeys on The Continent.

The Journeyman Blacksmith in Novigrad can make both swords for you. He is on the northern side of the open market area. This is just west and south of Hierarch Square.

Where to find an Armorer and Blacksmith

If the NPC is not there, meditate for a bit. This one works on a regular daily shift and if you visit at night, the shop will be closed.

You can visit Crow’s Perch or Kaer Trolde to find an Armorer for the other four pieces of the set. Here is the location of Fergus Graem and Yoana.

Enhanced Feline Gear Set Stats

The Enhanced edition of the Feline witcher gear is an improvement in any aspect compared to the previous tier.

How to get the Legendary Version of the Enhanced Feline set

The Legendary Cat School Feline witcher gear set is available in New Game Plus (NG+) in The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt. The Scavenging Quest and all diagrams are located in the exact same places as in the normal game.

In NG+ this set is called Legendary Enhanced Feline. The word “legendary” is added to acknowledge that you are acquiring the NG+ version of the set. It has the same type of stats but offers higher values across the board. It also requires the same types of crafting materials.

The Cat School in The Witcher’s Lore

Like many of the other schools of witchers, The School of the Cat was formed after abandoning the Order of Witchers. To gain power as fast as possible, the School of the Cat abandoned the neutrality tradition of the switches and sent many of their students to serve as assassins, swords for hire, and spies.

The Cats developed fighting techniques focused on precision, agility, and speed. As you can imagine, they’re not the strongest nor are they equipped with the heaviest armor but when it comes to killing someone undetected no one rivals the School of the Cat. This means that they eventually also took contracts on humans, making them a disgrace in the eyes of the other schools.

It is said that it’s one of the only schools that train women and non-pureblood humans.
