The Ultimate Edition for Cyberpunk 2077 offers new players a chance to visit and experience Night City and Dogtown at a discounted price by purchasing the physical or digital bundle!
Ultimate Edition Release Date and Availability
Cyberpunk’s 2077 Ultimate Edition includes the base game and also the Phantom Liberty expansion, this way you don’t have to make two purchases (assuming you don’t already own the base game).
The Ultimate Edition is going to be available on December 5th, 2023 for PC, Xbox Series X, and PS5 in both physical and digital formats.
Please note that Phantom Liberty is not available for PS4. The physical copies will only be available “in selected markets”.
Phantom Liberty was released just a few months ago. It is a spy-thriller story that I consider to be even better than the main quest of the base game.
Drama, suspense, betrayal, new allies, and enemies are some of the most important elements of this expansion. This is arguably one of the best expansions released in recent years, it really takes things to the next level.
What’s New in the Ultimate Edition
There is nothing new or exclusive in the Ultimate Edition. CD Projekt RED does not plan to milk their customers to buy something they already have. The Ultimate Edition is for those who have not yet started their own adventures in Night City and Dogtown.
The release contains the base game with every update ever released, including the free Update 2.0, which overhauled many of the game’s systems and added new weapons, vehicles, and clothes, as well as all free DLCs and the Phantom Liberty expansion.
CD Projekt RED did the same with The Witcher 3 Complete and GOTY Editions. The game was re-released in a whole package for all fans who have not previously owned the base game or any of its expansions, they could get it all at once at a discounted price. Nothing new or exclusive that cannot be downloaded and/or obtained for free by everyone else.
Should you play Cyberpunk 2077 in 2023 and 2024
It’s been almost three years since the game’s (very rough) release. Bugs, poor performance, and weird interactions caused many to abandon the game or prevent others from even giving it a try. It was really bad, and this was obviously reflected in the public perception of the game.
After lots of patches and quality-of-life improvements, Cyberpunk 2077 has finally reached the point where playing it isn’t a good experience, it’s fantastic.
Personally, I avoided the game during its first couple of years due to all the bad things I read about it but then I gave it a try after all the improvements it received.
Playing the game for the first time was overwhelming due to how many things it has; different combat styles, choices that truly affect the outcome of the story, crafting, diverse side quests, and most importantly, very compelling characters. It’s not easy for a game to make me care about its characters and their fates but Cyberpunk 2077 made it since the first few hours of gameplay.
Phantom Liberty adds a lot more things that make Cyberpunk 2077 even more enjoyable. The game isn’t perfect by any means but at least the performance issues will most likely not be the cause of the player liking or disliking it.
If you have never played it or abandoned the game early on due to the already mentioned problems then I seriously recommend that you try it at least once. It’s one of the most enjoyable games I have played in recent years.
Obviously, this is a very personal opinion, and just because I liked it doesn’t mean you will but at least you should consider it. Just like with The Witcher 3, CD Projekt RED made a fantastic game that will continue to entertain thousands if not millions of players in the years to come.
Despite my late arrival to Night City, Cyberpunk 2077 has a deep archive here on VULKK.com. Vulkk has been following, playing and covering the game for about five years now (~since 2018) and we will continue to produce more news and guides, though Phantom Liberty was the latest major update for Cyberpunk 2077, as the devs told us.
They said something similar about The Witcher 3 with the release of Toussaint and Blood and Wine… and we got The Next-Gen Update 4.0 years later. So, you never know!
We at VULKK.com have covered the game extensively. There are lots of mission walkthroughs, build guides, item locations, and more articles for both the base game and Phantom Liberty. If you don’t know where to begin, make sure to check our Cyberpunk 2077 Guides Master List.
