A complete guide how to get all 9 Chapters in the Scholar’s Remembrance Quest, during which you’ll unlock 2 strong Relics for him along with his Remembrance skin and a Relic Chalice.
Table of contents
Chapter 1
You begin the Scholar’s Remembrance Quest as soon as you unlock him as a character.
A journal entry titled “To Distant Limveld.”
Crossing the storm-tossed seas, I reached the land of my ancestors. According to my documents, there is an academy in which the great sage Hierodas passed down his knowledge — he for whom our institution is named.
But what I seek above all else is the Cleansing Tear. There is a line concerning it found in a collection of folk tales I read back in the institution that I cannot help but dwell upon.
“The Cleansing Tear is our desire manifest — that which will save our kind from its fate.”
It can be found here, in this land, I am certain. The gate hidden in the fog has opened. I will draw the truth into the light, at last.
Chapter 2
You unlock Chapter 2 by visiting Limveld by playing as Scholar. You may need to defeat a Nightlord.
A journal entry titled “A Lens to Look into the Past.”
The enchanted monocle I carry was given to me by my mentor as I embarked upon this quest. It is invaluable to my analyses.
The glintstone brings various facets of the object into focus. By unspooling the memories buried within the object, the events of the past can be witnessed.
A process which must be performed with care. I shall verify these truths myself, such that no harm comes to the relationships I have built with others.
I write this record of my actions with those same ideals in mind.
Chapter 3 – Scholar’s Chalice
You unlock Chapter 3 by visiting the Great Hollow Shifting Earth while playing as Scholar. You do not need to complete it. You might not need to visit the Great Hollow specifically.
A journal entry titled “The Vestiges Surrounding the Cleansing Tear.”
I found a scrap of paper I believe to have been carried by a messenger. Though soiled and in poor condition, I saw faintly but unmistakably the word “tear” imprinted upon it.
Examining it further, I heard the most intriguing words arise from within the vision I beheld…
“The tear… Salvation…”
This warrants further analysis. I shall continue my probe of the phantom vision as usual.
[Begin Remembrance]
After beginning the Remembrance, head over to your desk in the Chapel to analyse the scrap. This will cause a “phantom vision” to appear.

Now, you’ll need to set out on an expedition to Limveld and visit a specific Marsh marked on your map. Marshes are one of the new Key Locations added alongside the DLC.

The boss of each marsh is located beneath the sinking fortress, accessible through the building with the large door in the center. You’ll also need to head there for the Vassal’s Journal.

On your way down, look for an exposed part of the building that isn’t covered in marshy goodness. You don’t need to get all the way down to the boss. It’s near the first or second ledge, right before the spawn point for the Night Invaders.

Climb into the building and you’ll find the journal resting on a table in a small room. You can’t miss it.

Finish the expedition and you’ll receive the Vassal’s Journal as one of the rewards.

Upon returning, you’ll hear a crashing sound coming from the Chapel, which turns out to be the Undertaker licking some glowing purple goo off the wall.

The Iron Menial also heard the crashing sound and comes to investigate, but you can intercept and spare him from having to witness a complete and utter lack of professionalism.

The Undertaker needs time to pull herself together after you shoo him away, so you can go read that neat book you dredged from the marsh at your desk.

You’ll experience another “phantom vision” while reading the Vassal’s Journal talking about the Cleansing Tear and the Research Annexe.

…Killing him will not turn back the clock…
…The Albinaurics’ secret elixir…the Cleansing Tear…must be guarded at all costs…
…I must reach the Research Annexe…
As you finish reading the journal, the Undertaker lurches out from her licking spot and you can go talk to her. You’ll inform her that you need to leave the Roundtable Hold and that she needs to tell everyone you died.

The Undertaker will accept your request, ending the Remembrance. You’ll receive the Scholar’s Chalice for your efforts. It has Red, Blue, White | Red, Yellow, Yellow slots.

Chapter 4
As soon as you complete Chapter 3, you’ll also unlock Chapter 4 and 5. Chapter 4 is just a summary of what happened during the Chapter 3 Remembrance.
A journal entry titled “The Albinaurics’ Secret Elixir.”
I discovered a nobleman’s diary in a study hidden beneath a marsh. Deciphering it affirmed the connection between the Cleansing Tear and the Albinaurics.
The vision also pointed to a place known as the Research Annexe. Could it be there that we, the Albinaurics, find our manifest desire and reclaim our fate?
An additional observation: A fellow warrior of the Roundtable Hold was exhibiting some strange behaviour. It seemed she wished to escape the notice of the others, and so, with proof of my claim in hand, I made her a proposal that should serve us both.
I had been deliberating how to frame such a long disappearance from the Roundtable Hold, but now I have my answer. I leave the rest to her.
Chapter 5 – Cleansing Tear Relic
Chapter 5 is unlocked alongside Chapter 4 and features another Remembrance mission. It’s possible you need to have progressed far enough in the Undertaker’s Remembrance quest.
A journal entry titled “The Trader of the Roundtable Hold.”
With scant clues, the Research Annexe, the nobleman’s second residence located below Limveld, was near impossible to find without the Priestess’ help. I thought of the peculiar being who seems to come and go from the Roundtable Hold at its leisure. I explained my purposes to it and struck a bargain with the small jar merchant.
I communicated via etchings on wax tablet, and the merchant responded gleefully. After an exchange of drawings, we concluded with a detailed agreement. All that was left was to wait. Before long, everything was ready. The truth would soon be revealed. With my heart aflutter, I packed a few belongings and went to the merchant.
[Begin Remembrance]
Interact with the Small Jar Merchant and ask to be shown to the Great Hollow.

You’ll warp to the Great Hollow immediately for a solo adventure where you’ll need to beat up some Lazuli Sorcerers patrolling the building. There are fog walls at all the exits, so you can’t leave.

Head all the way upstairs, demonstrating your abject supremacy to the wooden sword nerds along the way and climb up onto the hanging crystal.

From there, jump up onto the rafters and head towards the hole in the wall.

You’ll have to turn back and determine the source of a noise you heard while rock climbing. There’s a Godskin Apostle and a pair of Cuckoo Knights on a lower floor. Be sure to scan them with your Analyse ability before engaging.

The Godskin Apostle will keep his distance, so focus on the Cuckoo Knights first. Try to lead them away from the Apostle and rely on the columns to block the Black Flame fireballs he chucks at you.
I found it very helpful to parry them by using the Analyse ability on myself. You press LT/L2 to use Analyse on enemies which debuffs their damage and makes them take more damage from the next hit depending on how long you scan them.
If you press RT/R2 instead, you’ll buff your max Stamina and if you do it while you have a fully scanned enemy in view, you’ll get a big parry for a moment after pressing the button, indicated by a bubble shield.
The strength of Analyse on yourself is determined by the furthest scan progress on any enemy in view, so wait until you see a red X and hold it until an enemy is about to land their attack.
Once you defeat the “Marauder” and his henchmen, climb back up to the rafters and go in the door. There’s a memo on the table and something on the hutch next to the door. I didn’t get a chance to read the thing on the hutch before the Remembrance ended.

A line from a memo.
“I will stay here with the original elixir. The power of the crystal will preserve it until it is once again required.”
Once you interact with the crystal and the phantom vision finishes talking, the Remembrance forcibly ends.

Impossible…the Cleansing Tear…was to be our salvation.
It can’t be… this must be a mistake…
You warp back to the journal with the Cleansing Tear in hand. It’s a large, red Relic with solid perks. The defeating enemies fills more of the Art gauge is better than it sounds because Scholar’s Art is so AoE-focused.

Chapter 6
Chapters 6 and 7 are unlocked immediately after completing the Chapter 5 Remembrance. The Scholar seems bothered by what he found in the Great Hollow.
A journal entry titled “The Truth of the Cleansing Tear.”
What remains of this entry has been crossed out so many times it has become completely illegible.
The majority of it has been torn out completely.
Chapter 7
Chapter 7 is unlocked alongside Chapter 6 after completing the Chapter 5 Remembrance. There is no associated Remembrance.
A journal entry titled “That Which I Dreamt While Asleep.”
In deepest darkness was I lying down, adrift in a small boat that was barely large enough to contain me in width or length. The sky above too was black as pitch, and though there was nothing at all to mark my passage, no land nor shore in sight, still I felt the rocking of the vessel as it drifted down the stream.
Just then the little boat creaked as someone stopped it dead. I tried to crane my neck to see but my body would not move. All I saw was a hand clasped upon the vessel as it pushed me gently out.
“Cast hatred aside. Heed not the call of the broken and discarded…”
White flowers bloomed on the riverbank, and a sweet scent not unlike honey wafted gently. …I began to wonder what became of the woman with whom I had made the bargain with. I wish I could give her the crystal I found underground to show her my appreciation.
Chapter 8 – Remembrance Skin
Chapter 8 is unlocked after defeating a Nightlord, likely the Balancers based on the journal entries for Chapters 7 and 8. Focus on catching as many of the Balancers in your Analyse Skill rather than trying to max it out.
A journal entry titled “A Sentimental Reawakening at the Roundtable Hold.”
My memories returned in vivid clarity after my reawakening at the Roundtable. I have known this uncanny sensation in my frame before — this feeling that my body had been lost. Once I was able to move my arms and legs, I finally stood up.
I asked the Iron Menial who had come to my aid — he responded by indicating the flower sitting at my bedside. Its white petals swayed gently, exuding a uniquely refined aroma.
I must speak to her, it seems. There is no need to keep the bargain anymore.
[Begin Remembrance]
Your first task is to speak to the Undertaker in the Chapel.

She remarks about your revival and gives back the monocle case.

What’s this I hear? An echo in my head, not unlike an invitation… Perhaps there is something I must investigate more closely…
There’s a note on a bench near the Scholar’s desk that you can read.

From the conclusion of the research findings.
“The Cleansing Tear was never found.
That is my only regret.”
Your next objective is to look at yourself in the mirror, the one you use to change your outfit in the east wing.

Now I know what to check. There is much to be done.
After looking in the mirror, head back over to your desk in the Chapel. There will be something new to examine. You can Analyse yourself and the Cleansing Tear. This is not some critical choice like deciding what the Guardian should do with the Witch’s Brooch.

…
…I pray that this will suffice… Your Majesty…–
To whoever shared this blood, though I know not which age you’ve traveled from…
Cast hatred aside. Heed not the call of the broken and discarded…They’re trapped. Within the detritus.
Offer them solace. Have mercy upon the dregs.
Your final objective is to beat the Dreglord as Scholar. As soon as he’s defeated, you’ll get the Headband of the Golden Ones.

Speak to the Undertaker back in the Chapel and give her a copy of your research. She will be the one to teach future generations about the Lands of Gold, which could just as well refer to Oolacile as it does the Lands Between.

Visit your desk one last time to put on the Headband of the Golden Ones, earning your Remembrance skin.

From the conclusion of the research findings.
“The Cleansing Tear could not change our fate.
But it still changed the course of history.”
You can look at the Returned Leather Case for your glintstone monocle at your desk, which shows a phantom vision of the Undertaker expressing gratitude.

I couldn’t keep my promise…
But… It’s nowt to do with me…
…I’m so glad he asked me…

Chapter 9 – Note “My Dear Successor” Relic
You unlock Chapter 9 upon completing the Chapter 8 Remembrance, along with a fancy Relic for Scholar, Note “My Dear Successor”, which is all about buffing the Scholar’s skill.
A journal entry titled “My Purpose.”
Limveld is a sacred land under which sleep secrets and mysteries aplenty. What I have unearthed will change our understanding entirely, for I have found that which before was only known to us in books and legends.
I know I will be called a madman, a liar, or worse, but I hope that those who follow in my footsteps will be that much closer to the truth.
Allow me to conclude my findings, having now come to the end of this grand romance.
The Cleansing Tear is not a manifestation of our desires—it has not the power to change our fate. It is, however, an artifact of great import—let it be known to history.
