A new Collectible Card Game has been revealed, The Old Republic era is back, Disney makes a deal with OpenAI, and everything that happened in the week of December 6 – December 12, 2025.

Star Wars: Fate of The Old Republic revealed at the Game Awards

Star Wars: Fate of The Old Republic is a new action/RPG game from Arcanaut Studios and Lucasfilm. The reveal at the Game Awards showed us a short teaser, which mentions that Casey Hudson is the game’s director. Hudson was the director of the first Knights of the Old Republic game, as well as the Mass Effect saga.

We’ll have to wait some years before playing the game, but it’s very exciting to think that after so many years, The Old Republic era is finally in focus!

Star Wars: Galactic Racing is coming next year

We’re also getting a new Star Wars racing game. This one is being developed by Lucasfilm and Fuse Games. Some of the leadership involves people who worked on the Burnout and Need for Speed franchises.

There will be a variety of vehicles, planets, and characters. As well as a single-player campaign and competitive multiplayer. The good news is that Galactic Racing is releasing in 2026, with a specific date yet to be revealed.

Star Wars is getting a digital CCG

Lucasfilm Games, Zero36 Studio, and CCG Lab are working together to bring a Star Wars collectible card game. This game will feature iconic characters from the franchise, but so far, there’s no word on how many eras it will cover or how the decks are going to be structured.

The game will release for Android, iOS, and PC. There’s no official name or release date, but considering that they only revealed the project, it’s probably going to be a while before we hear more about it.

“Our mission is to craft an experience that captures the thrill, adventure, and heart of Star Wars — a game that feels instantly familiar yet constantly surprising.” – Cory Jones, CEO of CCG Lab.

Disney strikes a deal with Sora, an AI video platform

Disney has officially licensed its intellectual property to an AI platform. This three-year agreement will allow Sora to generate videos using over 200 characters from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars. Though OpenAI won’t be allowed to use Disney’s IP to train its AI models.

According to Disney, this deal does not include talent likenesses or voices, but with these companies, you never know. While Lucasfilm is known for taking good care of its employees, Disney doesn’t hold the same reputation.

Variety reports that Disney is also making a one billion investment in OpenAI, though they said that said investment is still subject to negotiation.

While some could argue that this is a way for Disney to protect itself from what the AI will accomplish in the near future, it’s still something that disturbs actors, fans, creators, and artists. Only time will tell if this was a good choice or if they’re shooting themselves in the foot.

Marvel announces Star Wars: Shadow of Maul

A five-issue comic series by Benjamin Percy and Madibek Musabekov is coming in March 2026. This series will pave the way for the highly anticipated series Maul – Shadow Lord.

Benjamin Percy wrote last year’s Star Wars: Darth Maul – Black, White, & Red series, while Musabekov is known for his recent work in the Star Wars: Jedi Knights series.

Spoiler alert

Maul – Shadow Lord will show how Maul builds Crimson Dawn on Janix, a planet that is untouched by the Galactic Empire. Shadow of Maul introduces the setting and characters that will be part of the series, including Captain Brander Lawson and Two Boots, his trusty droid.
