This guide details everything you need to know about armor in Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart. We cover each and every set, where to get them, their effects and the ones you should try to prioritize getting when you can.
Deluxe and Pre-Order Armor Sets
These first six being covered very briefly are strictly cosmetic and have no function on gameplay like the other eight sets found hidden away in-game.
With the exception of the Carbonox Armor, the armors below are obtained with the Deluxe Edition of Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart.
Android
This very robotic and very yellow set is themed after making the Ratchet and Rivet look like an Android. It also has a bit of a post-apocalytic feeling to it with the helmet.
Carbonox (Pre-Order Bonus)
A fan-favorite armor set that has been in many of the Ratchet and Clank titles, the Carbonox Armor has been a mainstay armor set for awhile. It’s often a high-tier set of armor that you can’t get until later in the game, and the same remains true with its collectible counterpart.
Hacker
This interesting looking set gives off a lot of “80’s Futuristic” vibes, very likely a nod to that aesthetic. It makes heavy use of a neon color that is common for that look.
Imperial
The name and over abundance of white on the armor may be a nod to Storm Troopers from Star Wars, possibly referencing their older era armor. The giant red visor throws off the overall look, though it’s understandable as to why they may have avoided it.
Rebellion
Though not a direct reference again, the Rebellion armor set may have been heavily inspired from Star Wars. This time it seems loosely based on the thematic of the Rebel Alliance gear, which included an orange jacket.
Scavenger
The Scavenger set doesn’t seem to have any indirect references that stand out for it. This armor is predominantly purple and black with some green accents.
Collectible Armor Sets
These next eight sets can be found in-game, scatter though hidden areas, Pocket Dimensions and side quests. You do not need to equip any armor pieces to gain the effects of a set, as they are collection bonuses. As such they are always active and you can freely mix and match to your liking.
Captain Starshield
Collecting the Captain Starshield set will increase Experience gain by 5%/10%/20% based on how many pieces have been collected. This bonus applies to both Hero and Weapon Levels, so getting at least the Helmet as early as possible can be beneficial for leveling weapons.
The Captain Starshield Helmet can be found in Pocket Dimension 43-63-08, found on Savali.
The Captain Starshield Chest can be found in Pocket Dimension 08-08-08, found on Cordelion
The Captain Starshield Boots can be found in Pocket Dimension 21-66-72 on Ardolis. This is located under the elevated bridge, just before the marketplace area.
Carbonox Advanced
The Carbonox Advanced Armor Set increases Bolt Gain by 5%/10%/20% depending on how many pieces have been collected. The full set won’t be available until the very end of the story, but you can at least get 2 pieces prior to then. The effect is much more relevant to Challenge Mode, where it can have greater effect.
It does not differ in appearance from and will replace the Carbonox Armor set from the Pre-Order bonus.
Each respective piece can be gotten from the 5th arena of each tier at Zurkie’s.
The Carbonox Advanced Boots are the reward for completing all the Bronze-tier Arenas at Zurkie’s.
The Carbonox Advanced Chest is the reward for completing all the Silver-tier Arenas at Zurkies’.
The Carbonox Advanced Helmet is the reward for completing all the Gold-tier Arenas at Zurkie’s.
Galactic Ranger
The Galactic Ranger Armor Set increases Melee Damage by 5%/10%/20% depending on how many pieces have been collected.
The Galactic Ranger Helmet can be found in Pocket Dimension 65-31-99 On Sargasso. You pass through this Pocket Dimension as part of the story so make the short detour to pick it up while you’re there!
The Galactic Ranger Chest can be found in Pocket dimension 87-84-20, which can be found on Blizar Prime.
The Galactic Ranger Boots can be earned through the Help Trudi Sidequest by gathering 30 Zurpstones for Trudi.
Lombax Praetorian
The Lombax Praetorian set will increase your Raritanium Gain by 5%/10%/20% depending on how many pieces have been collected.
The Lombax Praetorian Helmet can be found in Pocket Dimension 66-66-67, found on Torren IV
The Lombax Praetorian Chest can be found in Pocket Dimension 32-34-99 found on Viceron.
The Lombax Praetorian Boots can be found in Pocket Dimension 4-11-81, found on Savali
Q-Force
The Q-Force Armor Set decreases the damage taken from Goon-4-Less enemies by 5%/10%/20%, depending on how many pieces have been collected.
The Q-Force Helmet can be found in the Pocket Dimension located outside of Zurkie’s, on the right side of the Landing Bays.
The Q-Force Chest can be found in an open cell in the VIP Area of Zardoom Prison on Viceron.
The Q-Force Boots can be found on Blizar Prime by using the path access from the Blizon near the lava area of the zone.
Robot Pirate
The Robot Pirate Armor Set decreases damage taken from pirate enemies by 5%/10%/20%, based on how many pieces have been collected.
The Robot Pirate Boots are earned as a reward for completing the first challenge in the Bronze Arenas, “Welcoming Committee: Defeat Pierre’s Crew” at Zurkie’s. This is required for the story, so you can’t actually miss it.
The Robot Pirate Chest is found on Savali, on a moving platform in the Northeast of the Savali Mesa. The starting location is shown in the image below.
The Robot Pirate Helmet is awarded when you complete the Pirate Trials on Ardolis. This is also another require story bit, but the Armor piece is not automatically rewarded, so it’s possible to walk past it, not that you should.
Robot Disguise
This Robot Disguise Armor Set is first shown in the opening scenes, with Rivet using it to evade detection from Nefarious’ Troops. It’s hard to see on most occasions, but the expression on the helmet can change.
The Robot Disguise Armor Set reduces damage taken from Nefarious enemies by 5%/10%/20%, depending on how many pieces have been collected. I highly recommend seeking out this set ASAP, as you’ll face a lot of this type of enemy and you can get it incredibly early on.
The Robot Disguise Helmet can be found in Pocket Dimension 22-54-97, found in the lower section of Nefarious City’s marketplace
The Robot Disguise Chest can be found in Pocket Dimension 731-71-86 on Sargasso
The Robot Disguise Boots can be found in Pocket Dimension 729-2110-01 on Sargasso
Wasteland
The Wasteland Armor Set reduces damage from indigenous creatures by 5%/10%/20%. These are the (mostly) smaller creatures, like sand sharks and similar beasties.
The Wasteland Armor Set is earned entirely from the Lorb Collection sidequest on Savali given by the Monk Scholar. After the initial three, the NPC will mark the remaining Lorbs and make them easier to find.
The Wasteland Boots are earned when you’ve collected three of twelve Lorbs.
The Wasteland Chest is earned when you’ve collected seven of the twelve Lorbs.
The Wasteland Helmet is rewarded for collecting all twelve Lorbs
