What are the restrictions of the items included with this bundle?

You will not be able to trade or transfer contents from this bundle.

How does this affect those with active SWTOR subscriptions?

The time from this bundle will be added to your account as game time just like a subscription, so you’ll be charged for your subscription the next time you run out of game time. 180 days is equivalent to 6 months, so you’ll be subscribed until the approximate time Update 7.7 is likely be released.

Vectron 240R Starbolt Mount

The Vectron 240R Starbolt is rideable at level 1 and does not require Speeder Piloting, making it one of the better mounts to use on brand new characters. However, once you get Speeder Piloting I, the mounts you get from Galactic Seasons at level 100 offer 110% movement at Speeder Piloting I, so you’ll be better off with one of those.

The Starbolt has the same appearance as the Vectron 240R Firebolt Mount from the last Master the Fight bundle, save for the color, which is now yellow instead of red.

Mount Flourish

The Mount Flourish for the Vectron 240R Starbolt acts as a hotrod toggle that engages additional exhaust pipes and a heatsink at the front of the speeder. When idle, small jets of flames will come out of the exhaust pipes. These flames grow stronger while you’re actively moving around.

You can only trigger the Mount Flourish with a keybind. The default is CTRL+Z, but you can set it to something else in Preferences ▶ Key Bindings ▶ Movement:

Dynamic Mount Colors

The exhaust also makes use of the Dynamic Mount colors feature, meaning you can set them to match the color crystal installed in your Mainhand weapon. The default exhaust color is yellow.

You can enable or disable Dynamic Mount Colors independently for each Outfit by clicking the checkbox in Character Sheet ▶ Outfitter ▶ [Outfit Name] ▶ Enable Dynamic Mount Colors:

How the Starbolt Speed Boost Ability Works

This mount has a unique minor speed boost effect marketed as a Supercharger. When you mount up, the Temporary Ability Bar appears with an ability called Speed Boost, which increases your movement speed to 400% for 2s with a 30s cooldown.

The speed boost effect triggered by the Starbolt’s ability is shared by the effect from the mount-up effect applied by the Firebolt and Razor’s Kickstart tactical item.

These items just offer 3 different ways to trigger the exact same instance of the effect, meaning the Starbolt’s temporary ability bar is subject to the 10s internal rate limit of the shared effect.

For example, if you have Razor’s Kickstart equipped and trigger it by mounting up with the Starbolt, the button on the temporary ability bar will be grayed out and unusable for the next 10s, though it does not depict this cooldown as it does when you activate the ability normally.

Likewise, you get no benefit from ping ponging back and forth between the Firebolt and Starbolt as you are fundamentally limited by the 10s internal cooldown. The Starbolt’s 30s cooldown also persists after dismounting.

TL;DR: The Speed Boost effects from the Vectron 240R Mounts and Razor’s Kickstart tactical item are locked down so you can’t benefit from multiple at the same time.

Starbolt Speed Boost Value

I tested the impact of the speed boost by timing how long it took my Jedi Sage to get from Aurek Base to Outpost Cresh in the Whiterock Wastes region on Hoth while using the Starbolt’s Speed Boost ability on cooldown and not at all.

I followed the main path so I could measure how long it takes to cross an entire region of the map with and without without having to make detours to avoid trash mobs.

Speed Boost Ability UsageTravel Time
Without Speed Boost1:56
With Speed Boost on Cooldown 1:49
Time Saved0:07

It ended up taking 1 min 56s to cross the Whiterock Wastes without using the speed boost ability, while it was possible to cross the same distance in 1 min 49s by using the speed boost on cooldown, resulting in a time savings of 7s.

It’s not super scientific, but the margin of error is confined to the width of the path through its impact on overall distance traveled, and we don’t need super exact information.

I think the Razor’s Kickstart and the Firebolt provide more value over shorter distances and require less input. If you’re traveling so far across a planet on a speeder as I did in this test, there’s almost always a Quick Travel point or Taxi that will get you to your destination faster.

As a side note, I also tried to measure crossing the Dune Sea on Tatooine, but it’s a lot more difficult than expected to go straight across, and there are all sorts of adds and obstacles in the way. The speed boost has a substantial impact on the stop location, so I scrapped that idea.

Primary and Secondary Metallic Yellow Dyes

The Primary Metallic Yellow Dye and Secondary Metallic Yellow Dye modules arrive in the mail inside a bundle that when unlocked, grants 5 of each dye module.

These dye modules are bound to Legacy so you’re able to swap them between characters on your Legacy. Since you can just make new toons to get more dyes, they are effectively unlimited.

It’s important to note that these dyes are yellow, not gold! The luster is also far more mild than other metallic dyes, though it is still shiny. The color is still close to many of the gold pieces in the game and is most similar to the gold used by many Zakuulan sets.

Both Siow and I think it’s much harder to use than the Metallic Red Dyes from the last bundle. Those red dyes were good enough to be a major value add, but unless yellow is your favorite color, these Metallic Yellow dyes are not usable enough to be a relevant factor into your decisionmaking process.

I am dumbfounded as to why Broadsword would opt for yellow instead of gold, especially considering some sort of dye revamp is on the way (not confirmed). That being said, I have no idea what their rationale with these dyes is. Shiny Black and Gold seems like a no brainer and they haven’t added those either.

If you want to see all of their perplexing offerings, check out our Enhanced Dyes Catalog for detailed previews of all the shiny dyes in the game.

Starbolt Bundle Monetary Value

The bundle is a pretty good deal. 180 days of subscription time would cost $77.94 USD and the 5500 Cartel Coins at $39.99 USD.

These two items alone would cost $117.93 USD. While this doesn’t include the (limited) value of the dyes and mount, you’re still saving about $18 USD at minimum, assuming you actually want the Cartel Coins.

A better way to think about it is that you’re paying full price for the subscription, but you also get 5500 CC for $22, which is roughly the same normal price as 2400 CC.

Keep in mind that the cosmetics (mount and dyes) included are decidedly less valuable than those in the previous Firebolt edition of the bundle, especially if you already purchased that one.

Is the Starbolt Edition Bundle worth purchasing

We think this is a good deal for active loyal players only. If you’re constantly on SWTOR and pay for subscriptions anyway, this is nice to have as you’ll get 6 months of subscription time with the added Cartel Coins and other goodies.

If you’re averse to spending money on cosmetics and MTX, I think it’s reasonable to pay the 20 bucks for an extra 5500 CC every 6 months. With all the sales they’ve been doing lately, you can grab a lot of cool stuff on the cheap.

If you only care about the subscription time and not the goodies, stick to the subscription plan. If you’re a new player, we highly recommend getting the the Join the Fight Bundle.

SWTOR-Join-The-Fight-Bundle-Overview

This bundle is cheaper and offers similar features to the Starbolt Edition bundle such as 60 days of subscription time, 2,400 Cartel Coins, and a mount you can use at level 1.
