SWTOR 7.6 New Augments Guide

Endonae by Endonae|

There are 3 new tiers of augments to craft coming as part of SWTOR’s Game Update 7.6 “Galactic Threads” using the Corrupted Bioprocessors that drop from the Propagator Core XR-53. We’ll tell you everything to know about how to get them and whether they’re worth it.

The Propagator Core XR-53 lair boss on Ilum will drop crafting schematics and required materials for 3 new tiers of augments, 2 blue tiers and 1 purple tier. As you’ll see from the iRating, the blues are roughly equivalent to existing 300 gold (Superior [Stat] 77) augments.

  • 310 purple (Advanced [Stat] Augment 86)
  • 302 blue ([Stat] Augment 86)
  • 296 blue ([Stat] Augment 83)

They use the same Augmentation Kit MK-11s as now previously BiS augs, so you don’t need to buy new kits for your current gear. The same third stats available as gold 300 augments are available for the new tiers:

  • Shield
  • Absorb
  • Critical
  • Alacrity
  • Accuracy
  • Mastery (Versatile)
  • Defense (Redoubt)

Stat Comparison

Both tiers of blue augments are meant to give everybody access to stat amounts provided by gold 300 augments at a much lower cost, while the purples provide a more impactful performance boost.

As you can see, the blue 296 and 302 augs provide roughly the same amount of stat as gold 300 augs, with the 296 providing ~5% less stat and the 302 providing ~2% more stat. The new purple 310 augs provide ~13% more stat than the gold 300 augs.

How to craft the new Augments

Crafting the new augments is a multi-step process that requires you to have multiple different crafting skills at level 700, necessitating multiple toons, friends, or a big, fat wad of cash.

Notable Lair Boss Drops and Updated Material Costs

The key material, Corrupted Bioprocessors, drop exclusively from Propagator Core XR-53, the new lair boss on Ilum, but more materials drop in VM than SM.

You’ll need Biochem or Artifice to refine the Corrupted Bioprocessors that drop from the boss into Purified Bioessence or Overclocked Biostabilizers, respectively. Then, the other crafting skills can combine those refined products into actual augments.

The blue schematics drop from Propagator Core XR-53 in SM (296) and VM (302), and you have a chance to learn how to make the purple 310 augs by Reverse Engineering the blue 302 augs.

You learn how to refine Corrupted Bioprocessors into Purified Bioessence or Overclocked Biostabilizers from a Biochem or Artifice trainer, respectively.

In addition, the OEM-37 and RPM-13, the main materials required to craft a CM-1337 will now only cost 1800 Tech Fragments each instead of 4000, meaning the effective Tech Fragment cost of a CM-1337 is now only 3600 instead of 8000.

Economics and Recommendations

As always, the economics will play a key role in determining which tier is appropriate for you, along with which augments you have right now.

For Gold 300 Augment Owners

If you already have gold 300 augments, it will not make any sense whatsoever to get anything other than purple 310 augments, but there is little value in upgrading at all.

Broadly speaking, Rakata 344 gear is already super duper overkill for everything besides Gods NiM, so upgrading from 300 golds to these new 310 purples won’t make much of a difference outside of an evenly matched duel.

You’re effectively getting an extra 2 gold augments worth of stat, which is a few hundred DPS and ~4000 more HP. If you’re wiping by that much right now, you have a significant skill issue, not a gear issue.

They will provide the most value to disciplines that have a nonstandard amount of alacrity, either resulting from a buff in their tree or resulting from having 2 alacrity implants.

For example, some of my toons have their alacrity at 7.37% right now, and I’d like to get that up to ~7.5% for improved GCD consistency.

For Blue 276 and Purple 286 Augment Owners

If you have blue 276 or purple 286 augments, I think it’s worthwhile to upgrade to the blue 296s. I am hesitant to recommend the blue 302s, at least until prices stabilize.

I expect the price of the blue 302s to remain roughly equal to the gold 300s, which should drop significantly after the sudden spike in demand for CM-1337s dissipates in a few months.

Once that happens, unless you need to surpass a stat threshold, I recommend purchasing whichever is cheaper.

It remains to be seen how much of a dampening effect the halving of Tech Fragment costs for OEM-37s and RPM-13s will have on the demand surge. Based on the materials alone, the purple 310s should always be 2-3x as expensive as the gold 300s and blue 302s.

In the long run, I imagine the purple 310 augs will be roughly as expensive as the gold 300s were in 7.5. The Tech Fragment costs to get a purple 310 augment aren’t going to be that much different from the current cost to get a gold 300 augment since you need 2 CM-1337s for a 310 purple but only 1 for a gold 300.
