Keith Kanneg, SWTOR’s Executive Producer, released his Q3 2025 Executive Producer Letter. In it, he recaps the recent updates and hints at Dantooine getting Dynamic Encounters in Update 7.8.
Why Producer Letters Matter
These Producer Letters may seem pointless to a regular player. They contain mostly recap of old news. These are significantly more valuable for returning or potential new players who haven’t been in and around the game all this time.
They stand out because the information is provided by the person in charge of everyone else and presented in a way that’s a lot more digestible to potential players who aren’t familiar with the current state of the game.
Over time, these producer letters build up as a public record, one that is a lot easier to read than the patch notes if you’re trying to get a sense of the history of the game or what content was released while an individual was confirmed to be working on SWTOR.
What happened in Q3 2025
As usual, I will follow Keith’s letter and mark out some of the new features and most important changes they introduced.
Update 7.7.1 Recap
The Q2 Producer Letter was released in the end of June. Since then, we received the 7.7.1 update and three lettered patches that contained more bugfixes than usual and some new features, such as the Subscriber Login Event.
Update 7.7.1, released in the middle of August, brought Galactic Season 9, an update to the Activity Finder to bring back role selection among other things, some combat style balance changes, additional improvements to the limitations of F2P compared to Subscriber status, and continued the effort to modernize characters’ appearance.
A huge improvement was the automatic skipping of cinematic cutscenes during Flashpoint runs organized via the Activity Finder. This saves time and handles the ever-so-popular PLS SPACEBAR phenomenon.
A significant improvement we also made is that the cinematic scenes will be automatically skipped for veteran players who use Activity Finder to group up for Veteran or Master Mode Flashpoints. This saves countless requests for players to press spacebar throughout the Flashpoint.
Security Key update
Another important update, not directly related to gameplay, was made to the Security Key you have. If you don’t, you should add one.
Players who have a Security Key tied to their account will only receive their Cartel Coin grants when logging in if their last grant was more than 29 days prior. To add a Security Key to your SWTOR account, go to your account page on our website. All commonly used authenticators are accepted, so get your free Cartel Coins and help protect your account from being compromised.
This will cut down on the piles and piles of Cartel Coins some players discovered on their account upon returning to the game after months or years of absence. And it’s yet another initiative on the devs’ side to incentivize players to log in more frequently.
Subscriber Rewards
The devs don’t do it regularly, so you can’t know when to expect subscriber rewards to drop. Maybe this is part of the plan.
Currently, there is the Subscriber Login Event running, but on top of it, if you are a subscriber between now and October 14th, you will receive the GDW Weaponcarrier Mount upon logging into the game. This new mount continues the trend of making sure your pet and companion have a spot next to you too.
What is coming next
It’s been years since Keith started doing these Producer Letters. We know what to expect and what not to. In the Q3 letter, we heard some hints and teases about upcoming in-game content in the very near future. We also heard about one unusual gathering taking place in Austin, Texas.
New Story release details
We got important update on when to expect the next story in SWTOR. The developers plan to catch up after more than a full year of draught by releasing the story packs every 3 months, starting with 7.8.
There is a little more to be done for the Master’s Enigma storyline, which is launching with Update 7.8 sometime in late November or December. Although there is no release date announced yet, Keith confirmed plans for livestream for 7.8 happening in mid November. This gives us a narrow time frame for 7.8’s arrival.
We currently have all English voices loaded and ready to go, however, there are still some that we do not have for all French and German lines. We are working diligently with all of our partners and talent to get these in place for 7.8 but it is possible as of the writing of this Producer Letter that they may not be ready for 7.8’s launch.
If that happens, we’ll share more about how players using a French or German client can play Galactic Threads on the 7.8 Livestream. I just wanted to lift the veil a bit on the status of things we have been alluding to on our previous streams. Thank you for your continued patience!
Dantooine Changes
There will be a PTS where we will be able to test some of the new features from 7.8. This includes new Dynamic Events on Dantooine. Again, Keith was vague and did not specifically say this, but playfully hinted at it:
Ahead of that livestream players will also get a chance to test some 7.8s content on our Public Test Server. Stay tuned for that announcement in the next couple weeks but let’s just say Dantooine is in for some change… and it’s going to be Dynamic.
Meet and Gree with Devs in Austin
As someone who lives far away from the announced location, and someone who doesn’t follow hockey, I have no other chance but to only briefly report on this as I have no additional details about the upcoming event.
If you’re in Austin next year on January 30, love hockey, and would like to meet devs from the team, we invite you to join us for the Texas Stars game at the HEB Center at Cedar Park. All in attendance will be celebrating Star Wars™ night with fellow fans in our local community. Cosplay is not required but certainly welcome!
Doors open around 6pm CT. We will also have posters and code giveaways! Our table will be located near the South side entrance (where Season Ticket holders enter). More details for the event can be found here. If you’re in the area, we would absolutely love to see you there!
