What Bioware revealed during the SWTOR 30th June Producer Live Stream.
• Catch up with updates from the previous Producer Live Streams
This article contains all important bulletpoints of Bioware’s monthlly Live stream. The 30th June 2016 edition aired on 30th (Thursday) at 21GMT. Below you will find my notes and a link to the video from the full show.
Hosting the event, as usual, are Eric Musco, Charles Boyd and Ben Irving.
A full video recording of the event will be available HERE. Check the bottom of this article for the CHAPTER 16 TEASER
State of the Galaxy
- Carter market update – Bioware changed the pricing model and the loot drops rates for the GEMINI packs
- Recruitment Mission: Guss Tuno – there were issues with the alliance mission for Guss, Bioware found a bug that would have impacted the quest completion for the majority of players. Guss mission will be released with the next game update
- Heroic Missions – a kind of a silent nerf to credits rewarded for completing the heroics was intrduced. Bioware admited this to be a mistake and not a silent update. The change was forgotten/missed in the patch notes
- Story companions – Bioware wanted to make companions temporary and not always forever permanently granted to the players, but always be depending on the decisions and actions during the story playthrough. Any character from KOTFE can be lost, be careful! The devs had this plan for the original release of the game in 2011, but it was voted out.
- Group Content – no short term plans for new group content, confirmed. As soon as they have something to tell or announce – the devs will share it with the community to let us know they are working on something. No info on what kind of group content it will be, Ben Irving promised more details in the coming months.
- Unholy Alliance Extra Live Kick-Off event – Eric Musco talked about the Revenge of the Musco event where we (because I participated too, even live streamed it :P) were all there with brand new characters in a brand new guild, created specifically for the event. The ExtraLife kick-off event tried to bind the communiuty around a nice and honorable goal – to alert and prepare you and ourselves for the ExtraLife big event in the Fall where we will all be live streaming our favorite game again and ask for your support in the form of donations. Sadly, the 3 hosts did not even mention it as an ExtraLife event.
Chapter 15 “The GEMINI Deception
Chapter 15 is now officially available to all subscribers. For some reason the 3 hosts believe this might be the best chapter so far. I am wondering… did they forget how much better 12 was? :)))
Since I’ve done a huge and detailed coverage of all related to the chapter – guides, news, reviews, walktrhrughs and cartel market updates, there’s nothing Bioware really said that isn’t already known and covered by me (/pat_self ?)
The usual giveaway during the event was for the viewers to vote which of the 3 items from the latest GEMINI cartel packs was the best looking and greatest overall… Check the picture attached to the right for a preview of the 3 items. Unfortunately, while the raffle was going on, the 3 guys wasted ~5-6 minutes giggling and talking nonsese :)
Subscriber Rewards
The 2 rewards were announced in the previous producer live stream, here they are again. Not something I personally would adore having, but we are all used to the HK monthly rewards now.
- HK-55 Victory Strronghold Decoration – to get it, be subscriber by 1st July!
- Early Access to Chapter XVI – to get early access, be subscriber by 1st July!
Star Wars Celebration
- EA’s 3 big Star Wars games – Battlefront, Galaxy of Heroes and SWTOR will all be covered during the EA Star Wars panel.
- The SWTOR Cantine will be on 16th July from 8 to 11 pm at the Fox Excel, which is right outside the Celebration area and does not require you to have a pass to be there. From what I could get – the EA panel will likely only briefly mention SWTOR and the real event will be… outside Celebration, in a nearby building (like last year).
- A secret very special guest was announced to be present for the Cantina
Dark vs Light Event
- Bioware announced (again) the 2 new companions that are part of the rewards for the new Dark vs Light event.
- As you earn Dark or Light side points, your decisions contribute to the global outcome of the event and the end result will determine which companion will be released for everybody who participated. Bioware will be providing temporary stats and a special meter on the official website. Only 1 of the 2 companions will be released to every player.
Why Bioware is doing the event – Ben talked about how last Fall Bioware made the decision to reward the long time and most dedicated players with the Monthly Subscription rewards program, they are making a chapter just for the long term subscribers. The Dark vs Light event is focused on celebrating the 5 year anniversary. Ben also believes that the rewards that are part of the event are the best the studio has ever released.
- Rewards from the event – the intend is to reward the players for what they are doing right now, not what they have done in the past (this is as close quote as I could get, by memory).
- There are NO PLANS to change anything from the event for the moment. Nothing will be granted retroactively.
- Character slots – The devs are trying to work around a current issue preventing the server character slots to be expanded to 50 per server. By next Wednesday, they believe to be ready and the expansion to be a fact.
- Dark vs Light Pack bind rules – Ben talked about a popular issue of receiving different parts of the same armor set on different characters. The team is willing to work on a fix for that and address it as soon as possible.
- The achievement related to the Eternal Championship is about defeating the bosses, it doesn’t matter if you do it solo or with a group.
The event is world wide, not server specific. All players participating in this Summer event contribute to the same meter/stats globally.
- There is no official date yet, even though the”End of Ocrober” slipped as a possible end of the event. However, Bioware will give us information way ahead of the time the event will end. They are fully aware that the Eternal and, especially, the Legendary tier involve a huge amount of… grind.
- Once an achievement is completed, the character that achieved it can be deleted if the player no longer needs it. The achievement are not removed, they stay forever in your archives.
- To finish the higher tiers of the event, you need to complete the lower tiers first.
Chapter XVI” The Battle of Odessen
- Chapter 16 comes on July 26th. It’s called “The Battle of Odessen” and is the big ending of Season 1 of Knights of the Fallen Empire.
- Face Arcann in deadly combat as he launches and all-out assault against the Alliance base on Odessen.
