BioWare released a small hotfix for Star Wars: The Old Republic today. Update 5.10.3a was meant to fix a few bugs introduced with the release of 5.10.3 last week, but it also brings a new nasty bug causing a complete game crash to desktop!
Today’s patch is rather small and updates quickly. Its notes only list a handful of bullet-points.The major fix is related to a change that was originally planned for the Dantooine Incursion update, released last Tuesday. BioWare wanted to tie XP and Conquest XP together and planned to do that for 5.10.3. Unfortunately, when the update went live on June 4th, many players reported unbearable lag. The devs discovered that this was caused by the change made to the Conquest and reverted it back quickly.
Community manager Eric Musco first announced that at least two weeks would be required for a patch to be developed that will fix this. However, a week later today, we have the fix for it, which converts a portion of your earned XP into Conquest points.
It seems that the dev team was not happy with the multiplier they have set for Conquest Points earned while you are in a guild, so they nerfed it from 3x down to 2x.
Sadly, a new bug related to Conquest some how creeped up into the game. Many players report (me included) that when you open the Conquest tab to check the new (old) objectives, the game would crash completely and throw you back to your desktop. Repeatedly.
At the time of this publication the Conquest tab was reset and is currently empty. Musco posted on the forums that a fix should be made available tonight, but a server restart may be required:
The team is currently aware and investigating a fix for this issue. In the mean time, please avoid the Conquest Window until we can resolve it. Our goal is to try to get a fix out today, which may require a server restart, but once I know for sure I will post an update in this thread.
As you can see from the quote above (source: SWTOR Forums), the issue will be fixed very quickly and by the time you read this, it may have already be resolved.
Back to the good news from today’s hotfix – all quick travel points on the new planet of Dantooine are working properly and unlock as intended.
If you were one of those nasty invaders, who attempted to force their way into the enemy’s camp, you may find this harder now. BioWare has increased the defenses around and inside the starting areas for both factions in order to provide better protection.

- Reimplemented the 5.10.3 Conquest Point changes:
- A percentage of all experience earned is now converted into Conquest Points.
- The multiplier for earning Conquests points in a Guild has been reduced to 2x (down from 3x).
- Due to the on-going conflict, both factions have increased their base defenses on Dantooine to appropriately deter the opposing faction.
