BioWare continues with the previews of upcoming changes to some of the basic and advanced classes that are expected to happen with the release of Star Wars: The Old Republic’s next expansion called Onslaught. Game Update 6.0 brings Spoils of War, which is a brand new gearing system premiering this September. In today’s forum post(s) community Manager Eric Musco revealed the Sith Warrior new set bonuses as well as the Sith Marauder’s new ability.
The long-awaited 6.0 expansion to SWTOR arrives this September (or so the announcement says for now). The new gearing system, called Spoils of War brings a much desired versatility and freedom to play the characters and classes exactly the way you want and build their combat skills to match your preferred play style.
Last week community manager for SWTOR Eric Musco posted several large forum posts revealing interesting details about the Sith Inquisitor class and its advanced classes Assassin and Sorcerer. This week my favorite Empire Class and Story – the Warrior – steps up!
You will be able to test them soon, when the Public Test server opens up. Right now BioWare is still not ready to allow anybody outside the studio to play around with the new Spoils of War, but they are at least willing to share ahead of time the planned changes.
Below I have all the information that was previewed by Musco in the span of a few forum posts. Remember, these are all subject to change. The texts below are quoted from this and this forum posts. After you get yourself familiar with the proposed changes, jump in and share your thoughts and opinion – what is OP, what should be changed, how and why – I am eager to hear you all!
SITH WARRIOR NEW SET BONUS IN 6.0
Below you will find a tentative list of set bonuses that will be available to all Sith Warriors. These bonuses will likely have the high end of piece requirements, such as requiring 4 or 6 pieces. The smaller piece bonuses will be more passive in nature (stat benefits, etc). Please take a look and let us know your thoughts! As a note, if you are a Jedi Knight player, you can expect to see these set bonuses mirrored for you as well, they are still in process.
You may see bonuses which refer to charges. We are introducing new tech in Onslaught which will allow abilities to have multiple charges, meaning you can use them more than once (per charge) and the cooldown will simply add a charge up to the maximum.
- Ubercharge – Force Charge gets two ability charges. In addition, you cannot be stunned or rooted for 3 seconds after using Force Charge.
- Sap – After Force Choke finishes, it slows its target and every target nearby it for 6 seconds.
- Positioning – After executing Mad Dash, you gain 20% damage reduction for 6 seconds.
- Blinding Fear – Enemies affected by Intimidating Roar have greatly reduced accuracy for 6 seconds after Intimidating Roar wears off.
- Critical Focus – Critically hitting has a 20% change to build a Furious Focus charge. Can only occur once every 10 seconds.
- Vicious Thirst – Vicious Slash and Massacre add Vicious Thirst stacks to their targets, stacking up to 3 times. Killing an enemy with Vicious Thirst stacks increases your damage by 10% per stack for 10 seconds.
MARAUDERS IN 6.0: NEW ABILITY, TACTICAL ITEM, SET BONUSES
You will note that compared to the Sorcerer, the Marauder has fewer set bonuses. The reason for this is that although the Advanced Class has less, the base class of Sith Warrior has more than the Inquisitor. It still results in 8 set bonus options overall.
if you are a Sentinel player, you can expect to see these bonuses mirrored for you as well, they are still in process.
New Ability – Furious Focus
Furious Focus has 4 ability charges and recharges every 30 seconds. Activating Furious Focus consumes all charges causing your next attacks to do 25% additional damage.. Ex: If you consume 3 charges, your next 3 attacks do 25% increased damage.
Set Bonuses
These bonuses will likely have the high end of piece requirements, such as requiring 4 or 6 pieces. The smaller piece bonuses will be more passive in nature (stat benefits, etc).
- Dispatcher – Using Dual Saber Throw with Furious Focus grants Dispatcher, finishing the cooldown of Force Charge and making your next Vicious Throw usable on any target.
- From the Shadows – Activating Mad Dash while under Force Camouflage makes it critically hit and slows any targets it damages.
Tactical Items
This a new item slot coming in Onslaught. You can only wear one Tactical Item at a time.
Marauder
- Apex Predator – Activating Predation finishes the cooldown of Force Camouflage.
- Frenzied Focus – Frenzy builds a Furious Focus charge.
- Hidden Power – Force Camouflage generates 2 rage per second while active.
Annihilation
- Exterminator – Annihilate automatically kills standard and weak enemies with less than 30% health. Killing an enemy this way resets the cooldown of Annihilate.
- Rapid Rupture – Refreshing Rupture deals double damage on initial hit.
- Vicious Saber – Vicious Slash applies all of your Deadly Saber stacks to its target at once and resets the cooldown of Deadly Saber.
Carnage
- Unstable Focus – Using Devastating Blast with Furious Focus causes Devastating Blast to explode, dealing damage to all targets in the area.
- Hyper – Using Massacre adds Hyper stacks to you, increasing your critical chance by 10% and reducing the cost of your next Massacre by 1 rage per stack. Stacks up to 3 times. Last 10 seconds or until an ability other than Massacre is used.
- Bloody Focus – Using Gore with Furious Focus causes its target to bleed.
- Always Ferocious – Ferocity is active all the time, but only grants 50% armor penetration.
Fury
- Detonate – Raging Burst detonates Force Crush, dealing damage and slowing any enemies in an area around the primary target.
- Obliterator – Using Obliterate with Furious Focus causes it to critically hit.
- Force Barter – Furious Strike refunds one additional rage after it hits, but refunds all its rage if you would have fallen to zero.
Don’t go to far away. PTS is expected to open up soon and if you are eager to test how these changes will affect your playstyle and gearing preferences, this is the place to test them easily (PTS is free if you are a Subscriber).

PERSONAL NOTE: I know that many are expecting and asking already (even before I posted this – my Discord, Twitter and Facebook inboxes started filling up with questions and discussion starters. I must apologize. I am having a very busy time at the office with my real-life job and incredibly short dead-lines on two major projects, so I am not sure when I will get more free time to sit down and discuss with you my personal thoughts about these changes and I have so many coming just from reading the pre-patch notes for the upcoming PTS. I want to go in-depth with analysis and theories, but time may force me to push this kind of an article/video for a later time. Perhaps after PTS launches, so I will have grounds for testing stuff around.
