SWTOR 7.0 Galactic Season 2 Rewards Preview (PTS)

SWTOR 7.0 Galactic Season 2 Rewards Preview (PTS)

BioWare added Galactic Season 2 "Shadows of the Underworld", to PTS with the December SWTOR 7.0 Patch. Let's take a look at all new rewards!

Some of the rewards for Galactic Seasons 2 are available on the vendor and on display in the alcove. Everything else except for the decorations (assuming there will be additional decos for Season 2) are in collections.

If you are new to the game, you may want to first check out what is the Galactic Seasons feature in SWTOR and how it works.

New Companion: Fen Zeil

The new companion is a Duros named Fen Zeil and has 12 customizations. These customizations allow you to change his skin color, outfit, and eye covering.

Customizations

There are 3 options for skin color: Blue, Pink, and Green. There are 2 eye coverings: eye patch and cybernetic, and basically 2 armor variants. A brown, simpler version and a black, detailed version called Shadow Master. Both armors use the Resilient Warden’s Breastplate as a base, though the brown version removes some elements. The other pieces of gear are completely different for each outfit.

Outlaw Customization

There is also a single version called the Outlaw customization where Fen Zeil wears a duster instead.

Superior Weapon Set

This fancy weapon set is for your companion. It’s structured just like Season 1 where there’s a cool weapon with a specific tuning. For Altuur, it was the Starclipse which was Nahut’s Heavy Sniper Rifle with the Galactic Command tuning. For Fen Zeil, it’s a pair of Mischief blaster pistols with the Indigo Fog tuning.

New Mounts

There is 1 new creature mount with 3 color variants and 1 new speeder mount with 2 color variants. These seem pretty similar in terms of format compared to what was offered in Season 1.

Thurrb (Creature mount)

I wish BioWare would put some of these new creature mounts out in the world as enemies or being used as NPCs.

Sorosuub ST-13 (Speeder mount)

There wasn’t a fancy version of the speeder in Season 1, but now there is. I imagine that we’ll get the base version of the speeder at progress level 1 and the fancy version of it at level 100. They both have the mount flourish where little flaps pop out of the bottom. You can see it active on the Triumbra and retracted on the SoroSuub.

SoroSuub ST-13

This mount looks like BioWare took the barrel of one of Niko Okarr’s blaster pistols and turned it into a speeder. I still like it though.

Triumbra

The Triumbra also has little green exhaust vents that shoot green fire while moving.

New Player Armor Sets

I’m happy that BioWare actually made good new armor sets for Galactic Season 2 instead of just pulling a scrapped CM armor design out of the trash like they did for the Mythran (Hunter) Armor from Galactic Season 1. The new armor sets remind me a lot of the Haxion Brood Commando from Jedi: Fallen Order.

It’s hard to see from the picture, but the commando wears a robe just like the two new armor sets in SWTOR.

New Weapons

There are two series of weapons. Each series has a distinct look and includes 1 of each type of weapon. The two collections are similar, but each have their own style, this is similar to how things were with the Altuur’s Exquisite and Ornate weapon series from Season 1, though I think they’re slightly more visually distinct from each other. The FZ-39 Shadow series features a purple color crystal as a base while the named weapons feature a teal color.

The “Shadow” collection

These weapons are all labeled as “FZ-39 Shadow + type-of-the-weapon”.

The “random words” collection

This collection of weapons are all titled using random unrelated to each other words.

New Galactic Seasons Token Rewards

There are a few new companion customizations available on the Galactic Seasons vendors including a new dark side “fallen” look and second hairstyle for each alignment and a white “Hoth” paint job for our ship droids, CZ-198 and C2-N2.

Master Ranos Customizations

It’s a bit hard to tell from the images unfortunately, but the new hairstyle has her hair pulled back into a ponytail while the dark side look darkens her skin, especially around the eyes.

Ship Droid Customizations

These look good on their own, but I hope they release ship droid customizations that better match each of the ship interiors.

Hoth C2-N2

These are on the Classic and Non-Seasonal Rewards vendor, which has a rotating inventory, so it’s possible that there are other new rewards as well. I’m happy to see they are providing additional offerings for players that already have all the classic rewards.

New vendor: Brrazz Jawa

There is a new information broker Jawa named Brrazz located in the Cartel Bazaar hiding behind some crates.

Brrazz

When you talk to him, you can trade 500 Purple Jawa Junk for a consumable item called Jawa Intel.

Brrazz Trade

I think this might be related to Galactic Season 2 since they’re both underworld-themed, but we just don’t know yet. I’m not sure where this new currency can be spent yet either. The Galactic Seasons vendor only sells things for the Galactic Seasons tokens. Maybe it isn’t related to Galactic Seasons at all.

Concluding Thoughts

It seems like BioWare was listening to player feedback. The overall quality of rewards has been improved in my opinion, especially in areas where improvement was most needed, like with the armor sets.

I’m curious to see what Fen Zeil’s unique ability is. I really liked Altuur’s marked ability that makes you deal more damage. Hopefully we get a Force wielder for Galactic Season 3, but maybe not Jedi or Sith. Voss perhaps?

If you have missed the previous article, I covered everything new or changed from SWTOR 7.0 PTS December Update. Lots of improvements were made since the last patch we got in November, but also a lot is still missing or broken.
