This guide will show you how to start the Scavenging Hunt quest for the Grandmaster Wolven Gear from the Wolf School witcher set in The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt next-gen update, where to find and obtain all the diagrams and the requirements to craft the armor and weapons!

What is Grandmaster Wolven Gear and who is it for
The Grandmaster Wolven witcher set is for level 40 and is an upgrade to the Mastercrafted Wolven witcher gear (level 34). It’s a medium armor set that boosts Resistances, Experience earned, Attack Power, Adrenaline Points Gain, and Sign Intensity. It’s an all-rounder type of set. Just like Geralt in the books.
You need to craft the Basic Wolven, Enhanced Wolven, Superior Wolven and Mastercrafted Wolven armors and swords first as they are part of the requirements to craft the Grandmaster version. More on that in the Crafting Segment later in this guide.
Grandmaster is the highest tier of witcher gear in the game. At this tier, you get Set Bonuses. The more pieces of the same set you have equipped, the more bonuses you receive. More on that later in the guide.
How to start the Scavenger Hunt quest
To unlock the quest, you need to unlock and access Toussaint. This is the new region added to The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt with its second expansion Blood and Wine. If you don’t own the expansion, you can’t get the quest and the gear.
When you get to Toussaint, find the workshop of Lazare Lafargue. It’s located north of the Mettina Gate signpost.
This is the only Grandmaster craftsman in the game. He is an Armorer and Blacksmith “2 in 1” . Talk to him and ask him about the Wolf gear diagrams hidden somewhere in Toussaint. This will grant you the Scavenger Hunt quest for the six diagrams of the Grandmaster Wolven set.
You can start and complete this quest at a lower level. The opponents you will have to fight are nothing extraordinary. You will need to be level 40 to wear the gear, though.
Visual Overview of the Grandmaster Wolven set
The set is a loose reference to the gear Eskel is wearing. It features a pouch hanging on Geralt’s chest, heavy accents of thick brown leather with black accents and a red doublet. You can use a dye on it to change the colors of each individual item. Dyes can be purchased from the Dyes Merchant in Toussaint.
Where to find the Diagrams
All six Grandmaster wolven gear diagrams are in the same place in Toussaint. You will find them in the Termes Palace Ruins in southeastern Toussaint.
When you arrive at the abandoned archeologists’ camp, look for a small container under the bench between the two tents. It contains the journal of Isabelle Duchamp.
About a hundred steps to the north, you will find the entrance to the old ruined palace.
Nearby is one of the Places of Power in Toussaint. Stop by to pick it up on your way to the ruins.
First, pick up the Purple Ruby on the right side of the entrance, out on the terrace. Next to it you will find George Herbert’s Letter. It will give you some more insight of the events that took place here with the expedition from Oxendurt and the witcher who entered the ruins.
Then, inside, on the right side of the purple portal barrier, place the Ruby in the slot to unlock the entrance.
Now you can go in. Immediately as you descend the stairs, a Barghest and a Wraith will attack you. They are both level 40. Make use of your Specter Oil.
Quen is always a great Sign to have. Yrden slows the Wraith down and forces it to take physical form, while the Barghest is weak to Axii.
The Moon Dust bomb is another weakness these two creatures share. There will be more of these creatures in the ruins.
To your right, you will see a locked door. The key to unlock it is actually on the ground on the other side, just next to the door. You could unlock it later to have a quicker way out.
Your path is to the left from the entrance. At the end of this short corridor, use Aard to break the wall and open up the tunnel behind it.
When you arrive to where the tunnel widens and turns, a giant centipede level 40 will jump on you. Put Insectoid Oil on your silver sword and make use of Yrden to stun the creature.
If you have done the Turn and Face the Strange quest to unlock the Mutations system, you should be very familiar with these monsters already. They are unique to Toussaint.
Follow the path and when you reach the end, use Aard to break the weak wall and access the next part of the complex.
As soon as you jump down, a few Wraiths and Barghests will attack you. This is the most challenging fight for this quest, but it consists of normal creatures still.
In the corner of this room, you will find Aweagnial’s letter. It’s not mandatory for the quest, but gives you more information on what happened to the archeologists down here.
In the room to the left, you will find a witcher satchel. In it are three of the Grandmaster Wolven set diagrams: armor, trousers, boots. There’s also a note in there.
After you loot everything in this room, go back to the room where you fought the Wraiths and Barghests. Continue walking east and enter the next adjacent room.
There you will find the skeleton remains of the witcher. The other three Grandmaster Wolven set diagrams are here too: gauntlets, steel sword, silver sword.
This completes the Scavenger Hunt quest for the Grandmaster Wolven Gear. The Manticore Armor Diagram is located just to the southwest of the Termes Palace Ruions. You may want to go pick it up while you are in the area.
How to Craft the Armor and Weapons
After you have obtained all of the diagrams, bring them back to Lazare Lafargue. Below you can see the crafting requirements for each item and further down I have helpful information on where to find and how to get the rarest ingredients.
Infused Slyzard Hide
Can be purchased from the Shopkeeper Lafargue. You can also craft it from Cured Draconid Leather and Infused Crystal. Both also craftable items.
Enriched Dimeritium Plate
Can be purchased from the Shopkeeper Lafargue. Can also be crafted from Enriched Dimeritium Ingot.
Enriched Dimeritium Ingot
Can be purchased from the Shopkeeper Lafargue. Can also be crafted from Enriched Dimeritium Ore, which can be crafted or purchased.
Before you resort to purchasing an expensive crafting material, make sure you don’t have a way to craft it. All of the above-mentioned ingredients can be crafted. The ingredients for those items are fairly cheap and easy to find and loot. Things like Dimeritium Ore and Orichalcum Ore are available for loot. Explore Toussaint and do some of the question-marked optional activities on your map.
The rest of the items you can get by purchasing from alchemists, merchants or armorers and blacksmiths. You can also get them by dismantling items at an armorer or blacksmith.
There is no doubt that this is an expensive witcher set. Not only the crafting ingredients are rare and expensive to obtain, but the crafting tax at the craftsman are steep as well.
Gear Stats and Set Bonus
The Grandmaster tier of witcher sets all have unique set bonuses. The more items of the same set you wear, the more bonuses you receive. Below you can read the set bonuses for equipping 3 and 6 of the Grandmaster Wolven items.
Bonus for 3 pieces:
Each instance of Bleeding applied to enemies increases sword damage by 1% for each piece of the set.
Bonus for 6 pieces:
Each Adrenaline Point increases the possible number of Bleeding effects that can be applied to a single enemy.
Here are the stats of each individual gear piece. The plus and minus numbers at the end show the differences between the Mastercrafted and Grandmaster tier. The minuses are primarily result of runes and oils.
How to get the Legendary Version of the Grandmaster Wolven Set
The Legendary Wolf School witcher gear set is available in New Game Plus (NG+) in The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt. The Scavenger Hunt Quest and all diagrams are located in the exact same places as in the normal game.

How to get Grandmaster Wolven Gear in The Witcher 3
Instructions
- Visit the workshop of Lazare Lafargue in Toussaint. Talk to the merchant and pick up the quest for the Grandmaster Wols School witcher gear.
- Go to the Termes Palace Ruins, located in southeastern Toussaint.
- Walk north for about a hundred steps until you find the old ruined palace.
- Pick up and insert the Ruby into the slot on the wall to unlock the entrance of the ruins.
- Head left from the entrance. Break the wall with Aard. Do that again at the end of the tunnel, past the giant centipede.
- Jump down. Defeat the Wraiths and Barghests.
- Go to the left room and pick up the diagrams for the Grandmaster Wolven armor, trousers and boots.
- Exit the room and walk east to the other room.
- Loot the Grandmaster Wolven diagrams for the steel and silver swords and the gauntlets.
- Head back to Lafargue's shop and craft the Grandmaster Wolf School gear.
