7.8.1 Livestream on February 25th

Broadsword has announced the Developer Livestream for Update 7.8.1. It start at 1pm CT (19:00 UTC) this Wednesday, February 25, 2026, on Twitch.
On this stream, we will learn what is coming with the next update. 7.8.1 is not going to be a regular patch. It will contain the next chapter of the Legacy of the Sith storyline as previously announced on Keith’s Q4 2025 Producer Letter.
Join the Fight Bundle gets a refresh
February 14th, 2026
Broadsword will refresh the contents of the Join the Fight bundle on February 17th. The K-NorCo B5C mount will be replaced with the K-NorCo D3M mount. The rest of the offerings of the bundle will remain the same:

Wanted to give a heads up that the Join the Fight bundle will be refreshed next week on Tuesday, February 17th at 11am CT. The K-NorCo B5C Mount will be replaced with the K-NorCo D3M mount at that time as well. All other offerings within the bundle will remain the same.

Level 70 Character Token hotfix rolled out
February 7th, 2026
Broadsword has applied a hotfix for the bug with the Level 70 Character Token where some players reported getting stuck at loading screen after using the token for the first time.
According to senior community manager JackieKo, the issue should be resolved as their fix was planned to go fully rolled out by 12:00 PM CT on Monday and required no maintenance.
We will be deploying a hotfix shortly to fix the Character Token issue. This will not require us to take down the servers. This hotfix will be fully rolled out by 12:00pm CT. Thank you for your patience!

New Mac Launcher version released

Broadsword has announced that a new version of the Mal launcher has been released. There are no changes to the launcher itself, but this introduces a few fixes related to reinstalls and black screen you may have encountered.
Just a heads up that a new version of the Mac launcher has just been released. There are no changes to the launcher itself, but this new version should fix edge cases where re-installs could launch with the black screen issue (essentially the new install not updating to the latest version).

Bug with Level 70 Character Token
February 4th, 2026
Broadsword has confirmed an issue with the Level 70 Character Token where if a player uses it for the first time, they are not able to progress through the loading screen after Character Creation.
Senoir community manager Jackie Ko, shared a workaround that you may want to use while the devs are investigating this issue and working on a fix.
We’re seeing reports of players who are using a level 70 Character Token for the first time not being able to progress through the loading screen following Character Creation. We are currently investigating the cause of this issue. For now, players who are experiencing this issue can use the following workaround:

- The token will be refunded and will be available on the Character Create screen
Update 7.8c Announced

Broadsword announced Update 7.8c coming on January 27th. It will focus on bug fixes for Wreckage on Dantooine and “updates to improve to Mission Tracker readability”. Patch notes are expected the day before.
Double XP and Pirate Incursion events are back

Everyone’s favorite event, Double XP, is back in SWTOR for two weeks. It started today, on December 23, and will end on January 6, 2026.
The Pirate Incursion event is now also active on Dantooine. It will remain active for a week, until December 30.
Interview with Samantha Béart (voice of Darth Nul)

Broadsword released a 19 minutes long video interview with the voice of Darth Nul, Samantha Béart.
Narrative Director Ashley Ruhl and Lead Writer Caitlin Sullivan Kelly were joined virtually by Samantha to discuss her experience with the character and revealed a little bit of lore. Darth Nul has been a part of the main SWTOR storyline since the launch of Legacy of the Sith.
If you have not yet played through Galactic Threads or any of the older Legacy of the Sith chapters, you are still safe to watch the interview. It will not spoil anything for you. It does provide interesting background lore and behind-the-scenes look at how Samantha gave life to Darth Nul.
7.8b Patch Notes
December 17th, 2025
Broadsword has published the changes coming with today’s 7.8b hotfix. Initially only a single change was announced, but the final patch notes contain several other fixes.
Server maintenance is expected to last two hours, starting at at 8am CT / 2pm UTC on December 17.
Mission Tracker
- Missions with long names are no longer cut off in the Mission Tracker or appear squished.
- Players can now increase the scale of the Mission Tracker UI to 2.0 (up from 1.25).
- The timer text on missions with longer names is no longer cut off.
Wreckage on Dantooine
- [Orbital Core] Fixed an issue that caused a second Orbital Core to spawn preventing players from claiming loot.
Items
- The Vectron Tinsel Taxi mount is now available on the Life Day Vendor.
Life Day and Anniversary Events Start Today
December 16th, 2025
The winter seasonal event, Life Day, starts today, December 16, and will run until January 13, 2026! You can earn unique rewards including the Ornate Life Day Robes, Tirsa G1-F7 Mount, and the new Vectron Tinsel Taxi Mount!
The Anniversary event also begins today, December 16, and will run until January 6, 2026. A new T0R-14 Astromech Droid and Galactic Threads Key Art poster decoration will be available on the Anniversary Vendor. Alongside the anniversary event, there will be a 50% off Collection Unlocks and “Inspired-By” items sales.
7.8a Patch Notes

Broadsword has announced Update 7.8a, which will release on December 16th, 2025. As mentioned last week, the focus will be on fixing bugs introduced with the latest patch, primarily for Wreckage on Dantooine and the new Galactic Threads story.
7.8b will release on the following day with a single fix to fix a loot issue with the Orbital Core.
Wreckage on Dantooine Dynamic Encounters
- The Spore-Coated Mass, Ejected Sludge Container, and Supercooled Crystalline Shard interactables in the Dantooine Crash Site now despawn and respawn as intended.
- The Orbital Core now gives progress towards the mission “[WEEKLY] Priority Targets”.
- [Wreckage on Dantooine] Corrected an issue that prevented the [Glacial Encounters] and [Cold, Hard Data] missions from being granted correctly if certain biome crossover encounters were active.
- Dynamic Encounters on Dantooine now give progress towards the mission “[WEEKLY] The Shifting Tides”.
- [Caretaker Unit K-6] Fixed an issue where the Caretaker K-6 droid could be defeated without completing the event.
- [Glacial Trespass Biome] The Security Terminal conversation now advances the biome’s progress as intended.
- [The Cryonest Matron] Decreased the boss’ health and the increased the respawn time on the minions to balance the difficulty of the encounter.
- [Gelid Tendrils] The Tendrils can now be defeated and the encounter advances as intended.
- Timers are now shown in the tooltip when hovering over a Dynamic Encounter icon on the World Map as intended.
Items
- Fixed an issue where the Contained Spore Bomb wasn’t applying vulnerability properly.
- The Greb Besrik Holo Decoration can now be unlocked.
Missions
- [Galactic Threads Crit Path] Fixed an issue that caused missions to be granted repeatedly or not be granted at all.
- Hotfix was deployed on December 9, 2025
- [Dark Heart of the Fortress] Darth Nul’s Datacron now appears properly throughout the mission.
- [Dark Heart of the Fortress] Lana Beniko now only appears once during the cinematic.
- [On the Run] French client only. Characters’ lips and voiced dialogue are now synced during this scene.
Operations
- [R4-Anomaly] Corrected an issue that caused IP-CPT to activate Disproportionate Intrusion Response while invulnerable.
Class Balance Changes
- Hunter Killer Droid/Advanced Recon Droid cooldown increased from 20s to 45s, Range decreased from 30m to 10m, AoE size decreased from 6m to 5m.
- Hunter Killer Droid/Advanced Recon Droid no longer gives an unintended 30% AoE damage reduction and now properly gives 30% damage reduction while stunned.

SWTOR’s senior community manager, Jackie Ko, announced on the forums that we’ll be getting Update 7.8a next week to focus on fixing bugs introduced with the latest major patch.

As we head into the weekend, I first want to say it’s been awesome seeing how much love Galactic Threads and Wreckage on Dantooine are getting. Secondly, we are working on a bug fix patch that we are targeting to go out next week (specific date TBD). This patch will include a number of fixes, including mission progress, spawning, and balance for the Wreckage on Dantooine Dynamic Encounters. So stay tuned for more details and finalized patch notes next week!

This will likely be the only update we get before the devs go on their winter holiday break, so if your issue doesn’t get fixed with this upcoming patch, you’d best get comfortable dealing with it until at least mid-January.

General
- The Greb Besrik Holo Decoration cannot be unlocked.
Note: You earn this decoration for completing one of the main missions from Galactic Threads, but you cannot click on the item in your inventory.
Dynamic Encounters
- Timers are missing from the World Map.
Crash Site Outpost
- Gelid Tendrils Dynamic Encounter is not progressing as intended when players run over the tendrils
Workaround: Ranged attacks will allow the encounter to progress - Caretaker Unit K-6 is missing from its spawn point.
Missions
- [Library of Nul / Hoth Pursuit] Some players are being granted these missions even after completing them.
- [On the Run] Some players are not being granted this mission even after completing Hoth Pursuit and Library of Nul
Workaround: Use the Eras window to be granted this mission
7.8 Story Looping and Missing Missions Bugs
December 11th, 2025
Multiple players were unable to progress through the Galactic Threads storyline due to a bug that prevents them from completing one of the missions and it was resetting on a loop.
On December 10 the devs pushed a hotfix that attempted to fix this bug and allow players to progress the story. However, they would need to complete the mission once again and then be able to push forward.
Hey there! The hotfix was applied yesterday. You will need to redo the mission, however, upon completing it, you will be able to continue progression on the crit path as intended.

Mac Launcher Issue after 7.8

Players are reporting issues with the game on Mac after updating to Patch 7.8. The game may launch, but you would see a black screen and get stuck there without being able to progress further.

SWTOR Update 7.8 “Pursuit of Ruin” Releases on December 9

It’s official! Update 7.8 to SWTOR will launch on Tuesday, December 9, 2025. The maintenance is set to start at 13:00 UTC (7:00am CT) and will last for approximately 4 hours.
Game Update 7.8 continues the main storyline from Legacy of the Sith and introduces a new Dynamic Encounters on Dantooine, a Dantooine Farmstead Stronghold along with PvP Season 9, combat style balance changes and other features.
