Netflix’s teaser #3 for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 provides new info and sparks speculations why all the main protagonists are coming together.
First, we see a woman talking with Weak. She mentions her daughter while holding a rose. The way this woman talks makes me believe that the story she’s about to tell is on the tragic side, especially since she’s holding a flower.

Next, we see Weak in a hospital room where Talia is being treated. While this happens, someone says, “Losing yourself is worse than death”.
This phrase reminds me of so many characters in different media who have lost themselves in their search for revenge. Talia used to be a Maelstrom and is very used to extreme violence, so it’s not too crazy to think that this could be related to her.

The video’s description says: “A washed-up edgerunner & a killer netrunner in Night City… what could go wrong?” Initially, I thought that it referred to both people being part of the same team, but after seeing the scene where we hear a female voice say: “Finally, I found you!” while D and Roman appear in surveillance footage.

My best guess is that Weak will end up assembling a team to take down this deadly netrunner. All of them with different backgrounds and motivations, but united by a single goal.
Weak was previously known as “King” and is considered a veteran in Night City, but his glory days are behind him. He might be trying to get rid of this threat to recover his status as one of the top mercs in Night City.
D is trying to find and kill the person who killed his clan, so maybe this netrunner is somewhat related to it. As far as Talia goes, we don’t have enough information to speculate about why he might join the group.
And Roman seems to be just tagging along to record some (very disturbing) footage. Out of all the messed-up things we’re going to see, having a kid witness so much death and violence is probably going to be among the worst ones. Especially if we see the psychological ramifications of said exposure.

Two-thirds of the trailer is just a fast sequence of multiple scenes where we see the protagonists shooting someone or multiple explosions. However, there’s one moment that might be teasing the end for one of the protagonists.
Anyone who has played Cyberpunk 2077 knows that facing MaxTac is a death sentence unless you are equipped with top-of-the-line chrome. That said, I seriously doubt that Weak can handle a MaxTac team on his own.

It’s still too soon to know if that is actually going to happen, but having one of the main protagonists go against MaxTac sounds incredibly fun. We’ll have to wait and find out on October 20.
