Galactic news galore! As expected, New York Comic Con 2026 brought plenty of Star Wars announcements, from news about spin-off titles around the upcoming Star Wars: Starfighter and the 50th anniversary of A New Hope to exciting reveals of collectables and gaming.

The Main Event on Saturday
The main Star Wars panel was hosted by StarWars.com Editor-in-Chief and writer of numerous Star Wars books Kristin Baver.
Panelists included prolific authors and artists, including Charles Soule, Matthew Reinhart, Will Sliney, and writers Kiersten White, Dr. Chris Kempshall, Jordan Hembrough, and Star Wars Reads Ambassador Ahmed Best.

Upcoming novels
From the Ashes (Reign of the Empire)
Fran Wilde’s upcoming book, scheduled for release by Random House Worlds on August 10, 2027, serves as the concluding installment of the Star Wars: Reign of the Empire trilogy.
Fans are familiar with Wilde’s short story “No Contingency”, featured in From a Certain Point of View: Return of the Jedi.
Star Wars: Princess of the Rebellion
Written by Claudia Gray and published by Delacorte Press, Princess Leia Organa stars in an upcoming YA novel debuting on Star Wars Day, May 4th 2027.
Star Wars: Starfighter – Expanded Movie Novelization
Written by Delilah S. Dawson and published by Random House Worlds, the official expanded novel adaptation of the upcoming film will feature scenes and storylines beyond the film screen.
Starfighter: Risk and Reward
A Star Wars tie-in YA book written by Geoff Smith and published by Random House Children’s Books (Penguin Random House Kids) is on the way as well. Follow Kade Auberon as he is hurled into a dangerous adventure across the galaxy that puts him on a crash course with destiny.

STAR WARS: AHSOKA — ESCAPE FROM THRAWN
January 20, 2027 will see the release of this beauty! Coinciding with the launch of Ahsoka Season 2, an all-new five-issue mini-series from Marvel will kick off, written by the man with the hat himself. No, not Indy, the other one!
Written by Dave Filoni and Rodney Barnes, Star Wars: Ahsoka — Escape From Thrawn will feature interior art by Andrea Di Vito and cover artwork by Phil Noto.
The official synopsis reads:
Witness the unseen story of EZRA BRIDGER’s daring flight from Peridea! Star Wars: Starfighter: The Rock Pirate of Kaneen
Scripted by Marc Guggenheim for Marvel Comics, this is a comic miniseries that sets the stage for the events of the movie.
Triple Take & Phineas and Ferb Star Wars
The guys at Mad Cave Studios promise us a new comic retelling of Episode IV events from a “certain point of view”, plus a comic adaptation of the beloved Phineas and Ferb crossover special.

The Art of Star Wars: Starfighter
Written by Phil Szostak and published by Abrams Publishing, this volume will offer a behind-the-scenes look at the standalone film starring Ryan Gosling as Kade Auberon, showcasing concept art and creative commentary from director Shawn Levy and key designers.
Star Wars: Starfighter Visual Dictionary
DK Publishing and Pablo Hidalgo return with another installment of the fan favourite visual dictionaries on May 28, 2027. This upcoming volume deepens in-universe lore with fresh intel on the film’s heroes, antagonists, starships, locations, and alien species.

Star Wars: A New Hope Visual Archive
Following their Phantom Menace and Return of the Jedi titles, Insight Editions are preparing a fresh volume in the Visual Archive lineup. Written by Clayton Sandell the new book is to showcase production art, screen-used props, and costume designs from the original 1977 film.
Star Wars: Celebrating 50 Years of A New Hope
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of Episode IV, Abrams Publishing is releasing a project by Kristin Baver featuring insights from a diverse roster of actors, astronauts, sports figures, and industry leaders.
Together, they highlight the groundbreaking shift and enduring legacy the 1977 movie created across various fields.
Star Wars: A Celebration
Arriving April 6, 2027 from DK Publishing, Pablo Hidalgo’s comprehensive 50-year franchise chronicle includes interviews by Anthony Breznican as well as contributions from Kristin Baver, Dr. Chris Kempshall, and Jordan Hembrough.
A deluxe Target-exclusive variant with expanded content will also be available at launch.

Upcoming RPG
Following the initial reveal at Gen Con, Wizards of the Coast debuted the first concept and cover art for D&D | Star Wars: Tyro Squadron Adventures, expanding on the Season of Rebellion tabletop RPG lineup to be released next year.
The special preview features gorgeous artwork by prolific painters and fantasy illustrators Justin Gerard, Amir Zand and Kieran Yanner.

Abrams Publishing brings back the archival storyboards from the entire Original Trilogy as collected and edited by the late J. W. Rinzler in a deluxe 50th Anniversary volume.
Insight Editions publishes a special Collector’s Edition featuring the full shooting script of the 1977 original film.
