Freedom Fight: SWTOR Alliance Alert Walkthrough (recruit Bowdaar)

Vulkk by Vulkk|

A guide explaining how to recruit Bowdaar, the classic Smuggler Wookiee companion during the “Freedom Fight” alliance mission in SWTOR!

This short written guide, accompanied by a video version (of course, Duh) will show you how to recruit Bowdaar, the classic Smuggler Wookiee companion from the old SWTOR storylines.

Requitements to unlock “Freedom Fight”

  • Have a lvl 65 character
  • Complete Chapter IX of Fallen Empire

Mission Walkthrough

Following the alert mission pop-up in your Alliance window panel from of the 4 Alliance Specialists – Hylo Visz, you are to travel to Zakuul, where you will meet with the owner of a Cantina – a Wookiee.

This is no other, but Bowdaar himself. He owns a cantina? WTH!? The mission Bowdaar wants to share with you is about freeing slaves.

After a short conversation in the typical style of all other Alliance missions (Bioware calls it Classic KOTOR Style) you have a new task. Bowdaar asks of you to enter the Eternal Championship and earn his respect before he can trust you with his detailed plans of freeing the slaves.

How to earn Bowdaar’s trust

Before the mission continues, you have to gain rank 10 or higher influence with the wookie. For this you have to enter the Eternal Championship and win as many fights as you can.

Do that by talking to Dominaire (an NPC in the Cantina). Beating more encounters in a row enhances the reward and influence gain.

If you complete the whole 10 encounters in one go without giving up, you can visit the terminal in the cantina again. This will be more than enough points to rise Bowdaars’ rank to 11 (in my case).

If you cannot complete the Eternal Championship in one go, just win as many as you can, get out to the terminal and check what amount of points you will earn for Bowdaar’s influence.

SWTOR Eternal Championship Guide

Advice: don’t exit after each fight to check this. There’s a big bonus (as I said up there already) to defeating multiple bosses in the arena before you claim the reward at the terminal.

If you are a Smuggler and have previously gained Bowdaar’s Influence to 10k (maximum), you can skip the grind now and go directrly to the next part of the quest.

After the Eternal Championship

After you have gained at least 10 ranks on the wookie’s influence, you can continue the conversation in the Cantina. The slavers have picked up their interest. The next steps will take you back to the arena where you will help Bowdaar train against 3 “silver” targets and in the end… comes the final fight, where the wookiee will again be next to you.

The final fight

… is a bit disappointing. I expected it would be a nicer challenge, considering you have the mighty Wookiee with you and not just that, but it comes AFTER you have beaten all 10 opponents in the Eternal Championship.

No.

The fight (back inside the Arena) is quick, easy and simple, after which you will have one more conversation with Bowdaar and that’d be all. You have completed the “Freedom Fight” alliance recruitment mission and Bowdaar will agree to come with you, if you would take him. I didn’t try to reject him in my first playthrough.

I was happy to have him as my 120th companion! The more the merrier! :)))

The mission reward is nothing to write home for, but it’s surely not why you are doing this quest.
