SWTOR Subscriber vs Premium Player Status explained

Vulkk by Vulkk|

I was informed last night that apparently both the Reddit and official SWTOR Forums are going mad with confusion about the new term Bioware is using – The Premium Player. Even though the new official KOTET page explains it more than once, it’s nice to have it confirmed and made clear once and for all.

There is absolutely no different between Premium and Subscriber. Both describe the exact same status a SWTOR player can have.

Now, why did Bioware decide to include the new term, I myself pondered during my KOTET Announcement video. It was a silly idea. We don’t need a new term to describe the Subscriber. Premium only sounds confusing, not prestige or classy.

Anyway, here’s a quote from SWTOR’s Community Manager Eric Musco, explaining the exact same thing, so that we all rest assured Bioware isn’t hiding something from us :)

Premium is the same as subscriber. It works just like KOTFE in that there isn’t anything to buy, premium members (subscribers) get it for free. The simple way to think of it is that anytime we would have said the word subscriber, we now say premium. That means that while you are inside of your game time card, you are a subscriber. Premium is not directly tied to recurring, it just means you have active sub time on your account.

Now, that this is out of the way, let me ask you – did you check the new Cinematic already? How about my analysis and overview video of it? There are some interesting hints and reasons for us to speculate from what we see in the trailer :)))
