How to Properly Report Cheating in SWTOR PvP

Bioware published a reminder of what players should do if or when they catch someone cheating in SWTOR – be it PvP or PvE. There are certain things that should be avoided when attempting to report cheaters.

Attempts at cheating and disobeying the rules of the game is not just typical for Bioware’s MMO Star Wars The Old Republic. Knowingly or by accident, players have been cheating or bending the rules in SWTOR since Day 1. This is known and the developers are constantly fighting to minimize and prevent this from happening.

Often players notice something abnormal or abusive happening right in front of their eyes. SWTOR community manager Eric Musco took it to the game’s official forums to remind everyone of what to do and how to make certain the information reaches the proper authority and action is being taken. When you notice someone cheating in PvP (or any other aspect of the game), report them in-game, as close to the time of the incident as possible and/or send Eric Musco a message via forum PM with all possible details. What happened, date, time, server, character name, etc. Include any screens or video that you have (it helps during the investigation).

What you should NOT do is make a post on the forums with screenshots or character information. This will get flagged as a call-out and removed. When a report is filed in the proper way, it reaches the correct eyes as soon as possible and then appropriate action is taken, if necessary.

From Vulkk: Remember that cheating doesn’t make you better. If you get caught you are risking punishment that can vary from a few days ban to a permanent one, your items and characters being locked or taken away or even worse.
