BioWare announced the arrival of Paxton Rall – a new player companion this December. He comes as a part of a Holiday Subscriber Promotion
Paxton Rall is a “famous” pirate. An achievement involving him leaked into the game by mistake months ago. BioWare acknowledged and confirmed that this is indeed a new player companion, but refused to tell when and how will you be able to recruit him.
Today the official website swtor.com announced a special December Subscriber Promotion involving Paxton. If you are an active Subscriber to Star Wars: The Old Republic on Saturday December 15th at 7:59AM GMT, you will qualify to get a special token via in-game email. This token will arrive by Friday, December 21st, 7:59AM.
Paxton Rall is supposed to be a famous pirate. He is a brand new character. This is how BioWare described him in the announcement:
This holiday, the Star Wars: The Old Republic team is excited to announce a new Premium player (Subscriber) reward – the new Twi’lek Pirate Companion, Paxton Rall! The most notorious pirate to rise to fame across the galaxy since the invasion of the Eternal Empire, Paxton Rall scours the stars in an endless hunt for adventure and profit, making him a formidable ally in your Alliance.
The achievement involving Paxton, that I mentioned above, is called “Cantina Crawl” and is earned by discovering Paxton in various Cantinas across the known Galaxy.
Paxton’s achievement is completely separate from the December promotion and his recruitment mission. If you qualify and receive the token, you can activate Paxton and play with him as an active companion to any of your current (or new) characters.
Paxton Rall is recruit-able via an Alert called “Privateer Englistment“. There are no other requirements to have this Alert show up for you except to have completed Chapter 9 of Knights of the Fallen Empire expansion. Unlocking him through the token will not prevent you from completing his mission.
Much like Darth Hexid and Master Ranos, Paxton will be available on Odessen for you to have a conversation with him and learn some insights that he is willing to share.
You can also encounter Paxton and learn more about him on the planet of Odessen after completing Chapter IX of the Knights of the Fallen Empire expansion. If you’d like to begin traveling with him immediately, you can use the token attached to your in-game mail to unlock Paxton as a Companion at any time. Using this item will not prevent you from playing through his recruitment mission!
