BioWare revealed the first details about the next update to Star Wars: The Old Republic. Patch 5.10.2, called “Heralds of Victory” is coming in April. It brings a revamped preview window and a new feature – Guild Heraldry.
SWTOR Game Update 5.10 was the biggest update the game received in 2018. It came in December and introduced a few key changes to the Conquest system. It brought new Guild features and systems as well. The beginning of the new storyline with “Jedi Under Siege” on Ossus, was the highlight, but not the only one.As you can expect, not all plans came to a fulfillment for BioWare in 2018. The long-awaited return of the few remaining classic class companions is still a big question before SWTOR’s creative director Charles Boyd. The team had to delay another new feature and postpone its release date, which was originally planned to be a part of 5.10 – Guild Heraldry.
Guild Heraldry is a brand new tool for guilds to rally behind. Each guild can create their own emblem to represent them throughout the game. Between the combination of icons, background details, and variety of colors, guilds will be able to create something truly unique. A guild’s emblem will be displayed in the general guild window, on the conquest planetary leaderboards, and many other places!
BioWare teases an upcoming in-depth article to explain the Guild Heraldry tool a lot better. For now all we have is a screenshot.
As it was originally announced in the reveal-article, this emblem will be featured in several places and will be unique to your guild. There are no details yet as to how much of a custom banner we will be able to create with this. For example, we don’t know if the symbol sitting in the middle will be hand-drawn by a BioWare designer and we will get a gallery of symbols to choose from, or we will be able to upload our own images. My logic tells me it will be the first, but my heart screams otherwise and continues to hope for a complete freedom.
Besides the new Guild Heraldry tool, SWTOR 5.10.2 brings, in the words of BioWare, a completely revamped preview window. One of the biggest improvements is that when you inspect your character and a mount, you will actually be sitting on top of that mount, instead of next to it. This should give you a much more accurate impression of how this mount would fit your character and their current outfit.
You will also be able to preview emotes, moods, recuperate abilities and more. A new animation button has been announced as well.
Many items that have particle and other visual animations and effects accompanying them, will be better and more clearly visible in the preview window as well.
Best of all – a new panel is added to the preview window, showing what is currently equipped to your character.
Star Wars: The Old Republic Game Update 5.10.2 “Heralds of Victory” is expected in April. Before that it will become available for testing on the Public Test Server (PTS). There is no concrete date announced yet for either of the two events. Stay tuned for more information and a detailed preview of the Guild Heraldry tool next week.
But the main question remains – where are Kira and Scourge? :)))
