This guide will show you how to get the Ruhnuk Datacron in SWTOR. It was released with Game Update 7.2: Showdown on Ruhnuk!
How to Unlock and get to Ruhnuk
The Ruhnuk Daily Area and the Datacron in it are only available after you complete the 7.0 story arc, which means you have to finish the main story on Manaan, released with Legacy of the Sith on each character you wish to do Ruhnuk dailies with.
Since the Datacrons in SWTOR are Legacy-bound, you only need to get it on one character. All your other alts will benefit from the +10 Mastery Points boost.
The Datacron on Ruhnuk is accessible only after you complete three long Relic Hunt missions available in the Daily Area of the planet. You have to do them all because the buff you get from the third one will allow you to get to the Datacron.
If you have not completed them yet, I suggest you read and follow the Ruhnuk Relic Hunt Missions Guide first. Then get back here for the Datacron!
Once you’ve obtained the Repulsor Unit from the final Relic Hunt, you can actually go get the Ruhnuk Datacron.
The platforming is considerably easier than what you have to do to get some of the other datacrons, but you have to be fast and precise because you still don’t have a whole lot of room to move around and there are knockbacks you have to avoid.
Ruhnuk Datacron Video Walkthrough
If you prefer to read instead, below the video walkthrough, you will find all of this explained in plain text and images.
Starting Point for the Ruhnuk Datacron
The starting point for the Ruhnuk datacron is a narrow opening in the side of the rock in the Overgrown Mining Site. Since the initial path is narrow and the camera doesn’t like that, I recommend dismissing your companion for this part
As you walk along, you’ll learn that the Lambro (cactus plants) in this little cavern explode shortly after you get near them. If you remain in their red circles, you’ll take a small amount of damage and get knocked back.
If you keep going straight through this cavern, you’ll end up at a dead end next to a rope, backpack, and note, all of which do nothing.
You actually walked past the correct path, which will be on your right as you walk toward the entrance, or on your left if you’re coming in.
You will soon see the backpack, note and rope below you. Your path continues up. Climb the rocks.
At the top, when you exit the cavern, turn left and follow the narrow path. Do not stop here! There are a ton of exploding Lambro; you will get knocked off and have to redo this part.
Repulsor Unit Jump and Wraid Combat Encounter
Following the path on the edge of the cliff, you will reach this Repulsor Unit. Make sure to summon your companion if it isn’t out since you will aggro enemies as soon as you land. Stand on it and activate Repulsor Pad. This will throw you to the other side.
You will get ambushed by Wraid creatures as soon as you land. Defeat them.
Cave Tentacles
Near the vendor droid, find the hole in the ground and leap into it.
On the path below, there will be Cave Tendril tentacles. Be careful about the knockback from the red circles they place on you.
You can move out of the circle or position yourself in a way so that the knockback (it’s from the center outwards) won’t push you off the edge. The circles disappear after a few seconds but persist even after the tentacle has been defeated.
Do not leap to the first tentacle, that is a dead end.
You will have a few more tentacles to defeat and jumps to perform.
It’s easiest to do this section on an Assassin / Shadow or Juggernaut / Guardian because they have passives that reset the cooldown on their leap ability, allowing you to skip the platforming section completely. Don’t forget to take Reaper’s Rush / Stalker’s Swiftness as an Assassin / Shadow. It’s still doable on other mDPS, you’ll just have to wait for the ability to come off cooldown.
Final Combat Encounters
When you go back to the surface, there will be two more combat encounters waiting for you. First, a silver Hidden Chain Beastmaster and a few Tineback adds will stand on your way to the Datacron.
A short distance past this encounter, you will see the Ruhnuk Datacron. At this point, you can probably hear the distinct sound of a Datacron nearby quite loudly.
Before you get your +10 Mastery, you have one final encounter to beat. 2 Hidden Chain Seekers (gold) and a normal enemy will ambush you as you approach the Datacron’s location.
The Seekers will cast Surge repeatedly, so make sure you’re not standing with your back to the ledge. Kite them to avoid the knockback and consider using your Heroic Moment to take them down faster.
