SWTOR Taris Datacron Locations Guide (Empire Side)

Vulkk by Vulkk|

This guide will help you get all five SWTOR Datacrons on Taris if you play an Empire character. From the best starting point to the exact location where you can collect them. And, of course, the Data Codex Entry lore behind each Datacron!

Datacrons are hidden collectible items in SWTOR that provide a permanent stat boost to all of your characters within your Legacy on a server.

There are dozens of Datacrons spread across both the Republic and Empire factions in SWTOR. Each Datacron you collect permanently boosts the stats of every character you have, including new characters. Every Datacron also unlocks a Codex Entry which unlocks Lore for you to read.

Taris is accessible to both Republic and Imperial, but each faction comes to it at a different level and with a unique storyline. This guide goes over all the Datacrons that you can find on the planet Taris as an Imperial faction player. The planet is located in The Seat of the Empire sector of the Galaxy Map.

Each walkthrough segment of the guide always begins with the recommended starting point on the map and ends with the location of the Datacron itself and the Data Codex Entry.

The starting point for this Datacron is in the Municipal Utility District in the northern part of the Republic Resettlement Zone (top left on the world map).

Walk up to the metal wall on the left side of the path, past the old trees. Climb up on the metal base of the wall and walk around it. Follow that ledge all the way to the end.

From the last mesh platform, jump onto the broken metal beam and from it onto the big broken pipe. Walk across and jump onto a small silver pipe. Walk to its end and jump onto a ledge below it.

Walk around the corner and stick to the ledge until you reach the large platform below with a hole in it. Jump down on the platform.

Galactic History 48 – The Audience on Onderon

The Jedi had uncovered Freedon Nadd’s tomb, but its sarcophagus was stolen by Naddist rebels loyal to the dead Sith Lord’s teachings. With Jedi Master Arca Jeth captured, Ulic Qel-Droma called for Republic forces and Onderon’s capital, Iziz, was besieged.

During the battle, Satal Keto and Aleema, leaders of the Krath Sith cult, arrived on Onderon seeking Sith knowledge. They went before King Ommin, who gave Satal an amulet that would allow him to understand the ancient Sith language.

Their audience was interrupted by Ulic Qel-Droma, who sought to rescue his Master Arca Jeth from King Ommin’s clutches. Satal and Aleema escaped, only to encounter the spirit of Freedon Nadd himself. Calling them the inheritors of his legacy, Nadd promised that he would lead the Krath to glory. Meanwhile, theJedi saw Nadd’s sacrophagous sealed away on Dxun, locked behind Mandalorian iron.

This Datacron is in the Derelict Swoop Tracks area, in the Tularan Marsh zone. The closest Quick Travel is Brejik’s Run Outpost. The starting point is a broken pipe that goes down int other ground. You have to hop on it.

At the top end of the pipe, jump off onto the metal platform, turn southeast, and walk onto the metal beam.

Jump onto the Metal Beam

At the end of the beam, run up to the ledge and step onto the platform.

Go to the platform

Cross to the other end and make a jump. Be careful, there’s a gap between the platform and the ledge.

Jump onto the ledge

When you reach the end, turn to face northwest and jump on the broken slab. Use a mount to be sure you jump far enough. Walk onto that structure to the next platform and then turn right, to face northeast.

These broken slabs are separated by a structure, but there are two gaps. You have to jump through them. The second gap is a bit larger. Use a mount.

Double Jump

Successfully collecting the Datacron will give you +4 Mastery to all characters and the following Codex Entry:

Galactic History 49 – Exar Kun

When the Jedi teach of the dangers of pride and overreach, they often speak of Exar Kun. A promising Jedi who trained on Dantooine, Exar Kun was known for his talent and his temper. He was intensely curious about all matters of the Force, and disagreed with his Master over the dangers of the dark side. Exar Kun believed he was strong enough to study the dark side without being corrupted by it.

Denied access to dark side teachings, however, Exar Kun left the Jedi in disgust. When he heard the Jedi had sealed the Sith Lord Freedon Nadd’s sarcophagus away on the jungle moon of Dxun, he went to Dxun to seek the tomb.

Breaking through the tomb’s seals, Exar Kun was confronted by the spirit of Freedon Nadd. Impressed by his power, Nadd told Exar Kun to journey to the Sith holy world of Korriban.

SWTOR Datacron Purple Taris (Empire) Purple Mastery Datacron Location

This Datacron will permanently increase your Mastery with +4. It unlocks the Galactic History 50 Codex Entry.

The Datacron is located in the northeastern corner of The Sinking City zone. Starting point is the Seeker Droid area in the Jedi Enclave Excavation Site. The closest Quick Travel is Forward Outpost Alpha, south of here.

In the middle of the area is a broken beam acting as a ramp from the ground up. Climb it.From the top, jump down on the right side. Get up on the silver rail and walk under the beam you just climbed.

Jump on the right and cross under

When you reach the end of the rail, jump on top of the broken wall segment, turn left, and reach the ending where a metal silver element protrudes from the wall towards the next beam.

Make one more jump to get onto the next beam. That second jump is through a bigger gap an on an angle, you may use a small mount to make it easier.

Walk to the column, turn right and reach the edge of the silver rail. From there, look down. Your goal is to jump down onto the silver metal platform below. You will take damage when you land, that’s expected.

From there, reach the ledge in front of you and go around the column.

Jump down onto the extended piece of metal from the broken beam and get to the next column and from there, go onto the broken piece of slab. You should already be hearing and probably seeing the Datacron.

All that is left is one more jump to cross the gap between the two pieces of slab and the Datacron is yours, sitting right on the edge, overlooking the Seeker Droid area from which you started this path.

Taris (Empire) Purple Mastery Datacron Location

Successfully collecting the Datacron will give you +4 Mastery to all characters and the following Codex Entry:

Galactic History 50 – Basilisk

Since their grueling campaign against the Nevoota, the Mandalorians had only grown in power, cutting a swathe through the galaxy in search of worthy opponents. When the Mandalorians besieged the planet Basilisk, the Basiliskans–reptilian droid-builders and legendary technologists–learned that the stories of Mandalorian battle prowess were true.

Realizing they couldn’t win even with Republic aid, the Basiliskans chemically poisoned their own world, hoping to take their conquerors with them. But the Mandalorians were victorious nonetheless, enslaving the Basiliskans and eventually turning them into mindless beasts of war.

More importantly, the Mandalorians captured many of the unique droids that the Basiliskans created. After this conquest, they were able to mass-produce the droids for themselves. Centuries later, the Mandalorians’ Basilisk war droids would become a legendary terror during the Mandalorian Wars.

SWTOR Datacron Yellow Taris (Empire) Presence Datacron Location

This Datacron will permanently increase your Presence with +4. It unlocks the Galactic History 51 Codex Entry. The Republic’s version of this Datacron is Red and grants Mastery +2 and Galactic History 25 Codex Entry.

The starting point for the Red Mastery Datacron is outside a cave in the Shattered Pipeworks in the northern parts of Tularan Marsh. The closest Quick Travel is Forward Outpost Alpha in the southeastern corner of The Sinking City zone. From there, head down south through the tunnel and into The Tularan Marsh zone.

The entrance to the cave is near the connection between Tularan Marsh and The Sinking City. The Datacron itself is at the other end of the cave, in Transport Station 5.

Enter the cave and follow the tunnels all the way to the end, to the square-shaped open area. You can’t use a mount and there are a lot of Rakghouls inside.

After you exit the tunnel, turn left and go north. Climb up on the broken piece of slab or some kind of platform and jump onto the grey pipe and then onto the metal mesh platform.

Taris Imperial Transport Station 5

There is a gap between the horizontal mesh platform and the ramp. Jump. At the top, turn to your left. The Datacron is waiting for you right there, behind the crates.

Successfully collecting the Datacron will give you +4 Presence to all characters and the following Codex Entry:

Galactic History 51 – The Krath Cult Strikes

After obtaining many Sith artifacts from Onderon, the Krath cult had only grown in power. Its leaders, Satal Keto and his cousin Aleema, decided that the time was right to seize their destiny. They attempted to launch a coup, attacking their aristocratic parents and claiming the Empress Teta system for themselves.

The people of Empress Teta soon rebelled against the Sith regime. Alerted to the danger, the Jedi Ulic Qel-Droma and his lover, the wise and gentle Nomi, traveled to the system at the head of a Republic fleet. But the Krath cultists were fanatics; a Krath suicide attack damaged the Republic flagship, leaving Ulic Qel-Droma badly injured, and the fleet was forced to withdraw.

SWTOR Datacron Orange Taris (Empire) Orange Mastery Datacron Location

This Datacron will permanently increase your Mastery with +4. It unlocks the Galactic History 52 Codex Entry.

This Datacron is inside an Abandoned Pirate Cave far to the south in the Brell Sediment. The closest Quick Travel is Bomber Command Post. There is a Quick Travel that is even closer, but you may not have discovered it yet. It’s called Lower Brell.

Enter the cave and cross to the other end, where you have to take an elevator down. It will take you to the Republic Mines.

In the Abandoned Pirate Cave

On the lower floor, look for a derelict bulldozer on the left after the first room.

bulldozer

Through a series of jumps you have to get from the bulldozer, onto the mesh platform, to the pipes, to the next mesh platform, on top of the crates and then onto the pipe that goes along the west wall. If you have no stealth, you may want to clear the NPCs on the ground before you start jumping.

From that pipe, hop onto the large container. From the crates at the other end of the container, hop onto the next large container.

From the next stack of crates, jump to the dark grey pipe and from it onto the mesh platform at the southeast end of the room.

From there you are a couple of jumps away from the Datacron.

This is one of the more frustrating Datacrons to get. A Second Combat Style with steal can help you greatly.

Here you can see a layout I drew on the map for the series of jumps you have to perform, starting from the bulldozer at the north end of the room. The Datacron’s location is marked with a square.

Successfully collecting the Datacron will give you +4 Mastery to all characters and the following Codex Entry:

Galactic History 52 – Exar Kun Faces Korriban

Fascinated by tales of the ancient Sith and seeking greater knowledge, the Jedi Knight Exar Kun had defied his Master’s warnings and spoken with the spirit of Freedon Nadd on Dxun. On the Sith Lord’s advice, Exar Kun traveled to Korriban and began exploring its tombs. A cave-in soon pinned Exar Kun to the ground, nearly crushing him.

The spirit of Freedon Nadd spoke to Exar Kun again, promising he would rescue the young Jedi if he gave himself to the dark side. Still believing he was strong enough to resist the dark side’s lure, Exar Kun gave his word and power filled his body.

The cave-in was blasted away and Exar Kun’s injuries healed, but his promise had taken him much further into darkness. He left Korriban and, on Nadd’s advice, made his way to the forgotten world of Yavin Four.
