This guide will help you get all SWTOR Datacrons on Taris if you play a Republic character. From the best starting point to the exact location where you can collect them. And, of course, the Data Codex Entry lore behind each Datacron!
Datacrons are hidden collectible items in SWTOR that provide a permanent stat boost to all of your characters within your Legacy on a server.
There are dozens of Datacrons spread across both the Republic and Empire factions in SWTOR. Each Datacron you collect permanently boosts the stats of every character you have, including new characters. Every Datacron also unlocks a Codex Entry which unlocks Lore for you to read.
Taris is accessible to both Republic and Imperial, but each faction comes to it at a different level and with a unique storyline. This guide goes over all the Datacrons that you can find on the planet Taris as a Republic faction player. The planet is located in The Seat of the Empire sector of the Galaxy Map.
Each walkthrough segment of the guide always begins with the recommended starting point on the map and ends with the location of the Datacron itself and the Data Codex Entry.

Galactic History 23 – The Sith Order Begins
Exiled for horrific dark side experiments, a group of Dark Jedi made a last stand against the Jedi Order on Corbos, where they were ultimately defeated. The survivors fled beyond the borders of Republic space and, seeking a refuge, they discovered the planet Korriban–home to the red-skinned Sith species. The Sith looked on the Dark Jedi’s Force abilities with awe, and worshipped them as gods.
Led by the fabled warrior and tactician Ajunta Pall, the Dark Jedi began forging the Sith into a glorious civilization, built on the principles they had established after breaking with the Jedi Order. They ordered the construction of great monuments on Korriban–vast cities that did not survive the ages, glorious temples and elaborate tombs.
As time passed, the Dark Jedi and the Sith species intermarried, until there were few true purebloods remaining. Eventually, there were only small physical differences between them. There were only the Sith, strong in the dark side of the Force, and their new Sith Empire.
Taris (Republic) Orange Mastery Datacron Location
This Datacron will permanently increase your Mastery with +2. It unlocks the Galactic History 24 Codex Entry for Republic players. The Empire’s version of this Datacron is Blue and grants Mastery +4 and Galactic History 49 Codex Entry to Empire Players.
This Datacron is in the Derelict Swoop Tracks area, in the Tularan Marsh zone. The closest Quick Travel is Brejik’s Run Outpost. The starting point is a broken pipe that goes down int other ground. You have to hop on it.
At the top end of the pipe, jump off onto the metal platform, turn southeast, and walk onto the metal beam.
At the end of the beam, run up to the ledge and step onto the platform.
Cross to the other end and make a jump. Be careful, there’s a gap between the platform and the ledge.
When you reach the end, turn to face northwest and jump on the broken slab. Use a mount to be sure you jump far enough. Walk onto that structure to the next platform and then turn right, to face northeast.
These broken slabs are separated by a structure, but there are two gaps. You have to jump through them. The second gap is a bit larger. Use a mount.
Follow that beam to the next piece of broken slab.
At the very end of the next platform is the Datacron.

Galactic History 24 – Empress Teta
The Republic had enjoyed a long period of peace during the Manderon Period, but the Koros system was rapidly becoming a problem. Although the planet Koros Major was stable, growing wealthy on carbonite exports, the other six worlds of the system were poor and increasingly lawless.
The task of uniting the Koros system was accepted by a noble famed for her military achievements. Empress Teta was the heir to Koros Major and was determined that the rest of the Koros system would share its prosperity. To that end, Teta began the Unification Wars, hoping to bring the entire system under her rule. She was ultimately successful, though she had to fight a long and bloody campaign to conquer the planet Kirrek.
Empress Teta would become known as one of the Republic’s boldest commanders. The Koros system was eventually renamed after her.

This Datacron will permanently increase your Mastery with +2. It unlocks the Galactic History 25 Codex Entry. The Empire’s version of this Datacron is Yellow and grants Presence +4 and Galactic History 51 Codex Entry to Empire Players.
The starting point for the Red Mastery Datacron is outside a cave in the Shattered Pipeworks in the northern parts of Tularan Marsh. The closest Quick Travel is Kanner Outpost in the southeastern corner of The Sinking City zone. From there, head down south through the tunnel and into The Tularan Marsh zone.
The entrance to the cave is near the connection between Tularan Marsh and The Sinking City. The Datacron itself is at the other end of the cave, in Transport Station 5.
Enter the cave and follow the tunnels all the way to the end, to the square-shaped open area. You can’t use a mount and there are a lot of Rakghouls inside.
After you exit the tunnel, turn left and go north. Climb up on the broken piece of slab or some kind of platform and jump onto the grey pipe and then onto the metal mesh platform.
There is a gap between the horizontal mesh platform and the ramp. Jump. At the top, turn to your left. The Datacron is waiting for you right there, behind the crates.

Galactic History 25 – Two Rivals
As the Sith Empire grew in power, few Sith inspired such fear as Marka Ragnos, a tyrant who ruled for a century. His death created a power vacuum, leaving the Sith Lords Ludo Kressh and Naga Sadow vying for supremacy.
During Marka Ragnos’s funeral on Korriban, Sadow and Kressh fought a duel, each claiming he was more fit to be Dark Lord of the Sith–the then-unique title of the Empire’s ultimate ruler. But the spirit of Ragnos himself appeared, claiming a golden age of the Sith was coming. Moments later, the funeral assembly was alerted: A Republic ship had been captured.
The ship belonged to two hyperspace explorers, the siblings Gav and Jori Daragon, who had stumbled on Korriban. As the Sith Council debated the Daragons’ fate, Naga Sadow saw opportunity. The hyperspace routes leading to the Republic had been lost; the Daragons were his chance to rediscover them.
Taris (Republic) Purple Mastery Datacron Location
This Datacron will permanently increase your Mastery with +2. It unlocks the Galactic History 26 Codex Entry.
The Datacron is in the Republic Reconstruction Grounds, in the middle of The Sinking City zone. Starting point is outside the ruined two-story building on the road from Waypoint Station Aurek to Kanner Outpost.
The building has its own area map. Enter from the south side, exit from the west. Fun fact: At launch, this building was incredibly buggy and laggy and we (the players) were struggling to figure out why.
When you reach the edge, jump down on the ground.
Turn southeast and enter the underground complex through an opening in the giant pipe. This is Dynamet General Hospital’s Research Level.
When you reach the square-shaped area. look for the pile of boxes in the southeastern corner. There is a door behind them. Jump over the crates and enter the corridor behind them. It leads to the Emergency Exit on the upper level.
The Datacron is all the way at the end of the corridor, opposite the emergency exit, which, of course, is blocked.
Successfully collecting the Datacron will give you +2 Mastery to all characters and the following Codex Entry:
Galactic History 26 – Naga Sadow’s Deceptions
For years, the Sith Lord Naga Sadow had been arguing unsuccessfully that the Sith Empire needed to expand. His chance came when Gav and Jori Daragon, two hyperspace explorers, accidentally discovered Korriban. With the Daragons sentenced to death, Sadow helped them escape, planning to use them to rediscover the hyperspace routes to the Republic. He then claimed to the Sith Council that Republic agents had freed the prisoners. Surely invasion was imminent?
Naga Sadow’s rival, Ludo Kressh, grew suspicious. As Sadow began to train Gav Daragon as his protege, Kressh raised a force against Sadow, hoping to expose his treachery. But Sadow crushed Kressh’s armies and declared himself Dark Lord of the Sith. In the confusion of the battle, Jori Daragon fled back to the Republic, not realizing her ship carried a homing beacon for the Sith to follow.
Taris (Republic) Green Matrix Shard Datacron Location
Matrix Shards are mission items that you can use to create a Relic Matrix Shard. The Shards are earned Per-Character. This means that even though the Datacron is considered collected for your entire Legacy if you want to get the Matrix Shard on a different character you will have to find the Datacron again on that character. This Datacron unlocks the Galactic History Codex 27 Entry.
This Datacron requires two players. You will need a friend to help you reach the location.
The Datacron is inside the Abandoned Power Plant in The Tularan Marsh zone. The starting point is just outside the plant, in the southernmost part, called Forgotten Undercity.
Enter the complex, go through the steel bridge to the south platform, walk east and take the ramp down to the lower level. Player 1 will have to press the button (marked with 1 on the image below), while player 2 stands in the middle of the grid behind the console with the button (marked with 2 on the image below). Player 2 is you and you will be pushed up in the air and onto the pile above you.
When you are up on the pipe, turn north and walk on the smaller pipe leading to the small platform where the Datacron is.
Successfully collecting the Matrix Datacron will give you 1 Green Matrix Shard in the Mission Items Tab of your Inventory, as well as the following Codex Entry:
Galactic History 27 – The Great Hyperspace War
The Sith had never forgotten their first exile from Republic space. With a trail unwittingly laid by the hyperspace explorer Jori Daragon, Sith Lord Naga Sadow saw a chance for revenge and to expand the borders of the Sith Empire. He had tricked the Sith Council into believing the Republic was about to attack and united several Sith factions into a massive invasion fleet.
Meanwhile, Jori Daragon had done her best to warn the Republic of an impending Sith invasion, but only the warlord Empress Teta believed her. Teta was still gathering her armies when Sadow’s entire fleet arrived in the Koros system and opened fire.
Jedi and Republic forces rallied quickly, but strengthened by Sith sorcery, Sadow’s attacks were unpredictable and devastating. The conflict quickly spread throughout the galaxy, until even Coruscant was threatened. The Great Hyperspace War became the first conflict on a truly galactic scale.
