This guide will tell you how to unlock the Old Wounds story and access the new quests and vendors on Voss available in the newly released Interpreter’s Retreat landing area.
Requirements to Unlock the Old Wounds Story
To access the Old Wounds story, you’ll need to pick up the mission “Old Wounds”. You’ll need to have met the following requirements to unlock it:
- Complete the 7.0 Story on Manaan, released with 7.0.
- Complete the Elom Flashpoint, released with 7.0.
- Complete the Digging Deeper Story, released with 7.1.
- Unlock Runhuk and complete the story there.
- Your character needs to be level 80.
You do not need to complete the Manaan Daily Area to access Old Wounds or the Ruhnuk storylines. Once you have met these requirements, you can use the “Launch” button for the “Old Wounds” mission in your Mission Log or Mission Tracker to start the mission.
How to Start the Old Wounds Story
Tau Idair or Darth Rivix will bring an artifact to you that needs to be studied. After some discussion, you’ll need to speak to Doctor Oggurobb in the Alliance Camp Headquarters on Odessen.
As always, you can find Doctor Oggurobb in the Research Laboratory area in the South East part of the Alliance Camp Headquarters.
When you speak to Doctor Oggurobb, a cutscene will start. Afterward, you’ll need to head to the Fleet to access Darth Malgus’s Prison for some questioning.
You can find him by going to the Mission Departures elevator in the East for the Republic Fleet or the West for the Imperial Fleet and selecting the Prison Level.
After selecting the Prison Level on the elevator, another cutscene with dialogue options will start.
After the “chat” with Malgus, you’ll be asked to go to Voss to meet up with Sana-Rae to aid her.
When you go to Voss, you will notice a new landing zone called “Interpreter’s Retreat”, you’ll be going here later but for now head towards the lower level area on Voss.
Meet up with Sana-Rae in Voss-Ka to start more cutscenes with dialogue options. She has additional details to share with you about Darth Nul’s origins and her relic first.
Once you have completed that, open your Galaxy Map and go to Interpreter’s Retreat. Find the Gormak named Kodom and speak to him. You’ll learn that you need to provide aid to workers at the Shrine of Judgement, this is where we will leave you to it.
How to access Interpreter’s Retreat on Voss
When you update SWTOR to version 7.3, you’ll be able to access the new area on Voss known as “Interpreter’s Retreat” through the Galaxy Map.
This is a level 80 zone where you can access a few vendors and a mission board that will allow you to start the Shrine of Silence Flashpoint.
You do not need to have started the “Old Wounds” storyline to access this area, though it may seem a bit empty since most content here is going to be unlocked with the story.
There aren’t any new Reputation Vendors in this area and players have reported that the new armor sets and decorations have been dropping in the “Shrine of Silence” flashpoint but we have yet to confirm this on our end. We will keep you updated through future articles and update this guide accordingly.
The Specialty Nutrient Vendor does sell five decorations if you want some nice awnings or plants. Other than that, you’ll need to complete the new story introduced in 7.3 to make the most out of this new area.
The area is rather small and a good chunk of it is locked off for Story reasons and if you’re hoping for some new biomes on Voss, you’ll be a tad disappointed.
Much like the rest of Voss we’ve encountered up to this point, it is very orange in Interpreter’s Retreat. This is great if you love the Autumn aesthetic but annoying if you don’t like the color orange.
Regardless of one’s opinions on the color orange, we can all agree that there’s some very nice scenery in Interpreter’s Retreat. Just be careful of the wildlife in the area as you go sightseeing.
This concludes our guide on how to unlock and start the new story in SWTOR 7.3 “Old Wounds” and how to access the new landing area Interpteter’s Retreat on Voss.
Next up, check out my guide to the Interpreter’s Retreat Missions and Achievements that become available after you complete the Old Wounds story.
There are 16 new armor sets you can purchase at Interpreter’s Retreat. They were supposed to be added with Update 7.3, but instead showed up with Update 7.3b
