SWTOR The Foundry Flashpoint Guide

Siow by Siow|

This guide will tell you how to start and complete the SWTOR Flashpoint The Foundry in any difficulty mode, what achievements you can unlock and the rewards you can earn.

This flashpoint is only available for players within the Empire Faction. This guide covers Story Mode, Veteran Mode, and Master Mode.

How to Start the Flashpoint and its Story

The Foundry was designed as a mid-level flashpoint during SWTOR’s initial release. For specific levels, it is designed to be for level 36 characters.

The events of The Foundry take place after the events of the Boarding Party flashpoint. After successfully capturing a Republic ship, a team of Imperials are able to infiltrate a space station known as The Foundry.

The Foundry is an ancient Rakatan space station hidden within an asteroid that is comparable to the Star Forge from KOTOR. Whereas the Star Forge could mass-produce ships, The Foundry can mass-produce droids.

To get the story arc for The Foundry, you’ll need to go to The White Nova at the Imperial Fleet. At the northernmost part of the Command Deck, you’ll find the astromech X1-09. Talk to this droid to gain the story for Boarding Party which leads to The Foundry afterwards.

How to Start the Flashpoint The Foundry and its Story

To start The Foundry Flashpoint without the story arc, you can find the NPC that gives the quests in the Command Deck of the White Nova. Sergeant Lodani will grant the mission for The Foundry in all difficulty levels and he’ll be in the northwest part of the Command Deck.

This flashpoint is also available in the Activity Finder under the Group tab. It’s available for Veteran and Master Mode, but you can find a Solo version in the Solo tab. The Solo version offers a guaranteed decoration drop from the flashpoint should you complete it.

Read our SWTOR Story Progression Guide to learn where this story fits in. The guide will help you experience the game’s narrative in the proper intended order of events and aid and assist you if you are not sure what to do and where to go next.

Bonus Mission: Forged in Battle Phase 1

This bonus mission starts after defeating an enemy NPC. For the first phase of this bonus mission, you’ll need to defeat 50 Republic Forces in The Foundry. Once you do this, you’ll be able to start Phase 2 of the bonus mission after defeating the first boss.

Bonus Mission: Forgotten Technology

This bonus mission does not lead to the optional bonus boss.

You can start this mission shortly after stepping into The Foundry where you have your first combat encounter. You’ll need to find the Ancient Foundry Terminals and interact with 20 of them to complete this bonus mission.

An Ancient Foundry Terminal

You’ll only gain extra XP for doing this mission, but you may be inclined to interact with these anyway as they make a horrible high-pitched tech sound when once is nearby. Because of this obnoxious noise, you’ll always know if there’s a terminal you haven’t interacted with nearby. Once you interact with them, the noise will stop.

The Ancient Foundry Terminals are found through the entire flashpoint in Central Production, The Droid Generator, and in the Inner Sanctum.

First Boss: The Foundry Guardian

The Foundry Guardian is a huge battle droid that looks intimidating, but is far from it. There are only two ways you can get defeated by this boss: standing still and not fighting back, or not avoiding the only AoE it has.

It’ll attack through basic ranged attacks and it may “Charge Up”. You’ll need to back up when it’s charging up as it’s about to use its “Molten Burst” ability. Molten Burst will damage anyone within 4 meters of The Foundry Guardian and it will cast this for 8 seconds. Once it stopped casting Molten Burst, it’s safe for melee characters to continue fighting it. So long as you avoid this very small AoE, you’ll be fine and move on with the flashpoint.

The Foundry Guardian using Molten Blast

Veteran Mode Differences

There are no mechanical differences in Veteran Mode, though the Molten Burst ability will hurt a bit more.

Master Mode Differences

Molten Burst is extremely dangerous to be hit by, even by the tank. If you’re a melee, you REALLY need to back off when you see The Foundry Guardian charging up. Failure to do so will result in you being melted away faster than butter being hit by a lightsaber.

Bonus Mission: Forged in Battle Phase 2

After defeating 50 Republic Forces and The Foundry Guardian, you can start phase 2 of the Forged in Battle bonus mission. You’ll need to destroy 30 Extermination Droids, fortunately they’re all over the place in The Droid Generator map. They come in two forms as seen in the image below:

You can begin Phase 3 of the bonus mission when you defeat 30 of these droids and reach the second boss’s room.

Mini-Boss 1: Master Sorolis

Master Sorolis is a Mirakula Jedi found in the Droid Generator map. He’s in a corner but if you aggro a patrolling Jedi in the area, this will aggro him as well. He’s a simple fight but don’t fight him with your back facing the ledge, he can push you off. You can avoid this fight entirely by walking around the room where you’ll run into some Extermination Droids instead.

Second Boss: HK-47

The second boss of The Foundry is a fan-favorite character, HK-47! If you’ve played the KOTOR series of games, you’re likely putting together the pieces as to who is behind this entire operation. HK-47 is eager to return to assassination, so prepare yourself for a frustrating fight.

The fight starts out simple with HK-47 using his standard assortment of blaster shots, grenades, and sniping random targets. Once he takes enough damage, he’ll cloak out to reposition to somewhere in the room. Whenever he uses stealth, anyone close to him will be pushed back. The droid generators around the room will begin to spawn Exterminator Droids while HK-47 will reappear to attack the team.

The adds can make this fight hectic as their number will increase the more HK-47 gets damaged. Use any AoEs you have to deal with multiple droids then focus on HK-47 once they’re defeated or at a more manageable number.

After taking more damage, HK-47 may return to the core and use the “Engage Core ability”. You can damage HK-47 freely when he’s casting this ability, but don’t be within this area when the ability is about to fully cast. The pistons that drop down will crush you resulting in an instant death.

Once the core is down, you’ll need to destroy the four blue panels on the core labeled “Generator Object”. This will release HK-47 and continue the boss battle.

Failure to destroy the Generator Objects in time will result in HK-47 becoming empowered when he emerges from the core. He will be red, large, and in charge as he’ll deal increased damage and gain a new ability. He can use the “Suppressive Fire” ability that deals high damage to anyone in front of him, essentially guaranteeing kills in that area.

Empowered HK-47 using Suppressive Fire

So long as you prevent the core from empowering HK-47, you’ll be fine so long as you can manage the adds, not get crushed by the core, and squeeze in damage on HK-47 when you can.

BUG ALERT

A bug common in this encounter happens when you defeat HK-47 or are defeated by him when he’s using the “Engage Core” ability. Should you defeat him while the Engage Core ability is active, the core can close anyway preventing you from looting him. You’ll be unable to open the core as there will be no Generator Objects on the core if this happens. It is also possible for you to get stuck within the core as well should you defeat HK-47 while he’s using Engage Core.

Stuck in the Core with HK-47

Alternatively, if you die while he’s using Engage Core, he’ll be stuck in the core when you try to fight him again. Use AoEs to damage him until he resets the core, allowing you to reopen it by destroying the Generator Objects.

Veteran Mode Differences

There are no mechanical differences on Veteran Mode for this boss fight.

Master Mode Differences

The only different in Master Mode is that you only need to destroy two Generator Objects to open the core. Aside from that, it’s the same fight with tougher enemies.

Bonus Mission: Forged in Battle Phases 3 and 4

After defeating 30 Extermination Droids and HK-47, you’ll be able to do the third phase of the Bonus Mission in the same room you fought HK-47 in. At the four corners, you’ll find 4 Shield Generators that you’ll need to destroy. Once you destroy them, continue into the flashpoint until you reach the Asteroid Surface.

A Shield Generator

For the fourth phase, you’ll need to destroy two Signal Beacons. Make a bee-line towards them and avoid the trail seen on the map to avoid unnecessary fights. You’ll be able to fight the optional bonus boss after destroying the two Signal Beacons.

Signal Beacons are outlined in this image.

Optional Bonus Boss: Burrower Matriarch

Like many bonus bosses, this boss fight is primarily a tank and spank scenario. Though it can get exceedingly painful on higher difficulties.

The Burrower Matriarch uses basic melee attacks and will occassionally spit acid at a random target. This doesn’t really do much if anything in Story Mode so you don’t need to worry about it at this difficulty.

Burrower Matriarch using Acid Spit

Veteran Mode Differences

In Veteran Mode, the acid spit actually does decent damage against you. It’s dangerous but not very deadly on its own.

Master Mode Differences

In Master Mode, you’ll need to go full Space Troopers on this bug as the acid is extremely deadly and its basic attacks hurt a whole lot more.

Mini-Boss 2: N4-10 Exterminator

This mini-boss is armed with beam weapons, plasma probes, flamethrowers, an AoE pushback, and blaster bolts. If it had some cryo grenades and explosives, it’d be armed with about everything in the book. It’s a simple fight so long as you defeat it before it defeats you as it’ll hurt much more at higher difficulties.

Like the first mini-boss, you can ignore this encounter entirely by walking around the room it’s found in.

Final Boss: Revan

Revan was the one behind the operation of The Foundry as he planned to use the droids built by this station to wipe out the Sith Empire and anyone with Sith blood lineage. Needless to say, the Empire cannot allow this and your team will be the one to stop him.

Revan’s abilities are primarily Light Side based when he’s above 50% health, then they become Dark Side based when he’s below 50% health. Here are the important abilities to watch out for:

When he’s above 50% HP, hey may channel the ability “Power of the Force”. Use your interrupt to stop this channel otherwise his damage output will be doubled. Look for the green icon on his castbar and when he’s holding up his hands, this shows when he’s using Power of the Force.

Revan casting “Power of the Force”

Another ability he’ll use when above 50% health is “Master Strike”. This is a 3 second channeled ability where he’ll stun a target while damaging them, followed by knocking them down. The target of this ability is random so the healer will need to be ready to perform serious heals on targets hit by Master Strike.

Revan using Master Strike

Revan can channel Force Lightning on a target that will root them in place. There’s not much you can do against this other than trying to survive. Some more avoidable damage are his Force Storm and Asteroid abilities. Both of these can be avoided by staying out of the purple rings that appear on the floor when he uses either ability.

Work around these abilities listed and you’ll be able to defeat Revan. It’s a simple but annoying fight overall that rewards quick reflexes and good map awareness.

Veteran Mode Differences

There are no mechanical differences in Veteran Mode.

Master Mode Differences

Outside of hurting a whole lot more, there are no mechanical differences in Master Mode. Be sure to interrupt Revan’s Power of the Force ability or it can result in a party wipe.

Achievements for The Foundry

The majority of the achievements for this flashpoint are for defeating the bosses 1 time, 10 times, and 25 times. Though here are two that grant item rewards:

Defeat Revan (Veteran Mode)

Achievements for The Foundry Flashpoint - Defeat Revan (Veteran Mode)

Defeated Revan in “The Foundry” flashpoint.
You’ll gain the Revan (Story) Trophy Decoration.

Elite: Foundry Finisher (Master Mode)

Achievements for The Foundry Flashpoint - Defeat Revan (Veteran Mode)

Defeated all bosses in “The Foundry” flashpoint 25 times on master mode.
You’ll gain the Revan (Master) Trophy Decoration.

Decoration Drop

The bosses in The Foundry have a chance at dropping the Rakata Stasis Chamber decoration. This will fit in a Medium or Large hook.

SWTOR The Foundry Decoration Drop - Rakata Stasis Chamber

This is good for a stronghold that you’re trying to give a more tech or industrial feel to it. It’s rather tall but not too wide, so they would look nice if you line up multiple copies on medium hooks in a row.
