This guide will tell you how to unlock the Chains in the Dark story in SWTOR. You’ll also learn how to access the new quests and vendors on Ord Mantell available in the newly released Kessan’s Landing area.
Requirements to Unlock the Chains in the Dark Story
To access the Chains in the Dark Story, you’ll need to pick up the mission “Road to Nowhere”. You’ll need to meet the following story progression requirements to unlock it:
- Complete the 7.0 Story on Manaan, released with 7.0.
- Complete the Elom Flashpoint, released with 7.0.
- Complete the Digging Deeper Story, released with 7.1.
- Complete the Ruhnuk Story, released with 7.2.
- Complete the Old Wounds Story, released with 7.3
You do not need to complete the Manaan Daily Area to access Old Wounds or the Ruhnuk storylines. Once you have met these requirements, you can use the “Launch” button for the “Road to Nowhere” mission in your Mission Log or Mission Tracker to start the mission.
To access and play this storyline, you need to either be an active subscriber now or have been a subscriber for at least a month between now and the release of the Legacy of the Sith 7.0 Expansion.
This should remain the standard rule for all and any future story bits that are part of the 7.x cycle. If things change, we will update where and when required, of course.
How to Start the Road to Nowhere Story
You and Rass Ordo have gained a lead as to where Heta Kol and the Hidden Chain have disappeared. You’ll be making your way to a place called “Port Nowhere” to investigate this further.
Pressing the “Launch” button in your Mission Pane or Log will start a cutscene to begin the story. Port Nowhere is an instance area, so you’ll only be able to access it by accessing it this way.
If you’re using a Republic character, complete the “Road to Nowhere” mission and you’ll get the “A Helping Hand” mission where you meet up with Captain Blyes. If you’re using an Imperial character, complete the “Road to Nowhere” mission to get the “A Favor or Two” mission where you meet up with Gimzel Gam.
After meeting with your contact and completing the previously mentioned missions, you’ll be sent to Kessan’s Landing on Ord Mantell.
How to access Kessan’s Landing on Ord Mantell
When you update SWTOR to version 7.4, you’ll be able to access the new area on Ord Mantell known as “Kessan’s Landing” through the Galaxy Map.
When you reach Kessan’s Landing, you’ll land at Ardak Point, the only major settlement in the region. Here you can access the Mission Boards, a few Vendors one of which is a new reputation vendor, and some hidden areas such as the Runoff Control room where you can start the hidden Geothermal Shielding Missions.
Outside of Ardak Point is Kessan’s Landing. It’s filled with dangerous wildlife, droids, Separatists and Mandalorians. This coastal region also has numerous lava flows inside and out, so be mindful to watch your step.
