SWTOR Assault on Tython Flashpoint Guide (Empire)

Siow by Siow|

This guide will tell you everything you need to know about the Empire version of Assault on Tython Flashpoint in SWTOR, including all boss encounters, bonus boss, and achievements!

This guide covers Story Mode, Veteran Mode, and Master Mode of the Empire-specific version of this flashpoint. Click here for the Republic-specific version of Assault on Tython.

How to Start the Flashpoint and its Story

To start Assault on Tython’s story, you’ll need to have started the Forged Alliances expansion right after completing the Rise of the Hutt Cartel expansion. To start Forged Alliances, go to the western half of Vaiken Spacedock on the fleet and look for an astromech named A7-M1. He’ll start a mission that’ll start Forged Alliances.

Darth Arkous will share with you that a source he trusts informed him of a gap in the Republic’s defenses on Tython. An assault is being planned in an attempt to seize the Jedi library and any knowledge it contains. You are tasked with being in the strike team to defeat any opposition and secure the Jedi temple.

To start the Assault on Tython Flashpoint without the story arc, you can find the NPC, F3-T2, that gives the quests in the Outbound Mission Hangar at the Republic Fleet.

This flashpoint is also available in the Activity Finder under the Group tab. It’s available for Veteran and Master Mode, but you can find a Solo version in the Solo tab. The Solo version offers a guaranteed decoration drop from the flashpoint should you complete it.

Read our SWTOR Story Progression Guide to learn where this story fits in. The guide will help you experience the game’s narrative in the proper intended order of events and aid and assist you if you are not sure what to do and where to go next.

Bonus Mission: Driven Before You

This Bonus Mission is only available on Master Mode.

You will start this bonus mission when you defeat any Republic NPC in the flashpoint on Master Mode. You’ll need to Drive 60 Opposing Forces off of Tython. This task is very simple to accomplish and doing this will unlock the bonus boss, the Republic Commander.

First Boss: Major Imos

Major Imos is a tank and spank boss that will summon adds. Nothing new or spectacular, but this fight will become more challenging when you fight him at higher difficulties.

First Boss: Major Imos

Major Imos has two AoEs you should watch out for, his Mortar Volley and Orbital Strike. Like the vast majority of hostile AoEs, you need to step out of them. Orbital Strikes will appear on group members randomly and this will be an important mechanic for higher difficulties. He also has an AoE push and group grapple so be prepared to run if he pulls you into an AoE.

When Major Imos reaches 70%, 50%, and 20% hit points, he’ll summon 2 adds to aid him. Defeat the adds to avoid unnecessary damage and keep attacking Major Imos. Repeat this process until he is defeated.

Major Imos summons Republic Operator adds

Veteran Mode Differences

When the adds spawn in Veteran mode, they’ll power Major Imos and grant him a shield making him immune to all damage. The adds also gain a shield that increases defenses by 25% and absorbs 75% of incoming damage.

Stand near the shielded adds and lure the orbital strikes to the adds. When they’re hit by an orbital strike, they lose their shields. When both adds lose their shields, Major Imos will lose his. Defeat the adds and defeat Imos by repeating this process.

Master Mode Differences

The mechanics are the same as Veteran Mode, only Major Imos will summon 4 adds. You’ll need to take down 4 shields to remove Imos’s shield. Be sure to defeat the adds to avoid the extra DPS they’re going to put out.

Bonus Boss: Republic Commander

This fight will prove very annoying for the tank. The reason being is that the Republic Commander will reset his aggro very often. The DPS and Healer need to be prepared to get attacked by the Republic Commander if the tank’s taunts are on cooldown (and they will be).

Bonus Boss: Republic Commander

This fight is simple as this is a glorified fight against a Jedi Guardian. He can use Force Push, Saber Ward, Saber Reflect, Smash, Charge, Spike, and cause a target to bleed.

His moveset is unpredictable but it is very basic and easy to deal with, he makes up for his simplicity with his strength and beefiness.

If you see a blue bubble around him, he’s using Saber Ward and has an extra 30% chance to dodge attacks. If you see red sparkles on him, he’s using Saber Reflect and will reflect any ranged targeted attacks.

His Spike is a mildly annoying ability where his attack will stun a target for a few seconds. Tank and spank him until he’s defeated.

Second Boss: Master Liam Dentiri

Master Liam Dentiri is a straightforward boss, he uses melee attacks and heavily relies on droids to fight for him when he stealths out. This fight is the easiest boss fight in this flashpoint, but you’re at the mercy of time while he’s stealthed.

Second Boss: Master Liam Dentiri

Damage Liam as much as possible whenever he’s visible as he’ll turn invisible as mentioned earlier. He’ll reappear after a while and you’ll have to fight Mark I Training Droids in the meantime. The droids are very simple as they use basic melee attacks and a Telegraphed Strike.

Telegraphed Strike appears as a cone AoE, sidestep it, and defeat the droids. There is a chance that instead of dying, the droids will become immune to damage and self-destruct on top of someone. Get out of the circular AoE to avoid the explosion. Defeat Liam then move onto the Jedi temple up ahead.

Veteran Mode Differences

There are no mechanical differences in Veteran Mode, the fight is just tougher.

Master Mode Differences

Master Mode will add three new droid variants, the Training Droid Mark II, VI, and VII. The Mark II isn’t too different from the Mark I, it’s Telegraphed Strike also has a circular AoE centered around the droid. The bigger changes are with the Mark VI and VII droids.

The Mark VI Training Droids are armed with assault cannons and will use a Ranged Attack channeled ability. This is a flashy-looking ability that only damages its targets. These droids aren’t too durable so they won’t pose much of a threat.

The Mark VI’s Ranged Attack ability

The Mark VII Training Droids are large war droids that’ll fire Cluster Rockets. These rockets only hit in the red AoEs. These droids will use the Cluster Rockets as soon as they spawn in, so don’t get caught off guard. Aside from the new droid variants, the fight doesn’t change beyond that and is still very simple to complete.

Final Boss: Master Oric Traless

Master Oric Traless is a simple fight with a lot of preventable damage in the form of, you guess it, AoEs! Master Oric has access to ancient Jedi knowledge held within the datacrons, you must defeat him and prevent the knowledge from being used by him so it can be secured for the Empire.

Final Boss: Master Oric Traless

This fight is largely a tank and spank and he’s nothing too special in Story Mode. He’ll attack with his lightsaber, fire with kinetic force at you with Telekinetic Wave, and throw debris at you.

When Master Oric reaches 84%, 50%, and 18% hit points, he’ll leap to a nearby datacron and become immune to taunts. You have 15 seconds to destroy the datacron or he’ll gain a stacking buff that increases his damage.

Using an “Acquire Target of Target” hotkey is very useful in this fight to easily target the datacron. There’s a bug where he’ll clip into the datacron and make it hard to target.

Master Oric’s most damaging ability occurs when he puts up a Force Barrier making him immune to damage. Debris will quickly fall from the ceiling and onto the players. Purple AoEs will appear under you quickly and often for a while, keep running to avoid the falling debris and avoid putting it into the path of other group members.

Keep him off the datacrons, avoid the falling debris, and defeat Master Oric. Once you’ve done that, head to the Council Chambers and interact with the holo-communicator to end the flashpoint.

Veteran Mode Differences

There are no mechanical differences on Veteran Mode.

Master Mode Differences

Master Oric’s Telekinetic Wave ability will now push back and stun targets hit by it. It is possible for multiple people to get hit by it, and you won’t be able to use your CC breaker to end the stun early. Every time he uses Telekinetic Wave, his aggro will reset and the tank will need to taunt him as soon as they’re up.

Light and Dark Choice: The Captured Padawans

After using the holo-communicator in the Council Chambers, Sergeant Tarsten will inform you of some captured Padawans. You can choose one of the following options:

Light and Dark Choice: The Captured Padawans
  • “Kill them” will grant +150 Dark Side points.
  • “They’re trivial. Release them” will grant +150 Light Side points.
