SWTOR’s 7.6.1c Patch smooths character textures to improve neckline seams, tweaks the recently released Speeder perk, fixes armor and weapon moving parts, class buffs in Operations, the Shields Up! achievement, and more!

SWTOR’s Lettered patches (7.1a, 7.1b, 7.2a, 7.3.1c, etc.) are hotfixes for their associated major or minor update. They never contain new content or features and are typically meant to fix an immediate issue that was discovered after the update was released or allowed to exist in the live game for a short period.

They are typically released within a few weeks of a major or minor update. In today’s case, Patch 7.6.1c comes three weeks after the launch of Update 7.6.1 “Rising Powers”.

Notable Changes

Update 7.6.1c notably improves neckline seams, converts the recently released Speeder Piloting legacy perk to an ability, offers some fixes for moving parts on weapons and armor, improves class buff behavior in Operations, and fixes the Shields Up! achievement.

Character Modernizations

Broadsword is releasing improvements to conceal the neckline seam currently present on player characters and NPCs. The change will affect currently modernized species including Human, Cyborg, Miraluka, Mirialan, Togruta, Zabrak, and Chiss.

It’s unclear if the smoothing from the PTS is also coming with 7.6.1c or if it’s just the neckline seam fix. Below, you’ll see how Din Djarin looks on LIVE followed by PTS. Click/Tap to enlarge.

In my opinion, these fixes seem pretty effective, and that appears to be the broad consensus as well. That being said, while there are examples where it’s more noticeable, I think the whole issue was a bit overblown.

The devs are still working on improvements to character and face modernizations, and the following issues will not be addressed with 7.6.1c:

  • Splotchy textures on vibrant colored skin such as Chiss characters
  • Minor geometry issues in areas such as around ears
  • Parity between character models shown in the preview window and in-game

They’ll also be modernizing the remaining species, like Sith Pureblood and Twi’lek, and improving lighting parity in and out of cutscenes.

Speeder Piloting VI â–¶ Enhanced Speed Boosters

Speeder Piloting VI is a new Legacy Character Perk added with 7.6.1. It offers the same speed boost ability provided by the Vectron 240R Starbolt, which was a temporary ability that grants the Razor’s Kickstart speed boost on a 30s cooldown.

With 7.6.1c, Broadsword is renaming Speeder Piloting VI to Enhanced Speed Boosters and categorizing it as a permanent ability under the Legacy tab in your Abilities List, so it won’t pop up in your Temporary Ability Bar anymore. I recommend placing it next to Rocket Boost and your other mounts on your quickbar.

Overwriting Class Buffs in Operations

The patch note specifically reads “Mirror class buffs no longer override personal class buffs in Operation groups.” I’m praying that means Broadsword is finally fixing the issue where class buffs get removed if someone leaves the group or phase who was providing the buff.

However, it could just mean, for example, that Imperials (or Sith Warriors) will consistently get Unnatural Might instead of the Jedi Knight equivalent, Force Might, but that seems like a far more complicated cosmetic problem.

Armor and Weapon Moving Parts

There are a couple of fixes coming to moving parts on armor and weapons that should fix incorrect behavior when entering a cutscene or engaging in combat. Hopefully, this will also resolve the significant hitching and crashing that occurs when changing to a loadout that uses items with moving parts.

Shields Up! Achievement

The Shields Up! achievement associated with the Snipers! Dynamic Encounter on Hoth was bugged where it wasn’t counting when you fulfilled the requirement. This issue has been fixed.

Given that there are a number of tricky achievements related to Dynamic Encounters on Hoth, I suspect you won’t be at 100% even after you get Shields Up!, and I encourage you to check out our comprehensive Hoth Dynamic Encounters guide if you’re stuck.
