Broadsword has temporarily disabled the ability to deconstruct Grade 11 Biochem items and plans to release a patch soon that adjusts what happens when break down something.
Jackie Ko, SWTOR’s Senior Community Manager, announced on the official forums today that they discovered some “unintended results” (an exploit) from deconstructing Grade 11 Biochem items bought from the GTN.
To halt this exploit, Broadsword deployed a hotfix today that temporarily made it so deconstructing Grade 11 Biochem items will destroy them instead of yielding materials or schematics.
They plan to release a proper fix later this week as a lettered patch (7.6.1d) with new item deconstruction rules that apply to all Crew Skills, not just Biochem:
- If you crafted the item and still have the required crafting skill, you will get crafting materials and have a chance to get a schematic
- If are not the original crafter but do have the required crafting skill, you can only get crafting materials, not learn new schematics, when deconstructing an item.
- If you do not have the required crafting skill, you can only get scrap rewards like Jawa Junk and Tech Fragments.
In other words, you can no longer get schematics by deconstructing items crafted by other toons. You’ll only get materials or Jawa Junk depending on whether or not you have the associated crafting skill.
