There are some items sold on the Cartel Market (and GTN) that you can get for practically nothing from the Underworld Exchange reputation vendors on the Fleet.

Underworld Exchange Vendors
There are 6 Underworld Exchange reputation vendors in total who sell a seemingly random assortment of Cartel Market items.
These items cost a tiny amount of credits and up to 10 Cartel Market Certificates. Each item also has a reputation rank requirement with the Underworld Exchange.
The Underworld Exchange reputation vendors are located on the eastern side of the Cartel Bazaar on the Fleet.
Underworld Exchange Reputation
While you can get Underworld Exchange reputation trophies from Ultimate Cartel Packs, the main way to get them is by winning at the Contraband Slot Machine, the singlemost expensive stronghold decoration on the Cartel Market.
In Game Update 7.7 “Dynamic Worlds”, Broadsword released the excellent Nar Shaddaa Essentials Decoration Bundle, which comes with 6 Contraband Slot Machines and a bunch of other decos for the low price of 2,500 CC. Even if you don’t care about the other decos, you can still sell them on the GTN.
Of course, you don’t need to buy these decos yourself. I highly recommend checking out Public Listings in the Strongholds and Crew Skills section of the fleet, particularly for the Nar Shaddaa stronghold.
Any self-respecting guild will also have one on their flagship next to all the other utilities and Felusia Stato on the bridge and/or in their cantina.
How to get Contraband Cartel Chips
You need Contraband Cartel Chips to play the Contraband Cartel Slot Machine. You can buy them from Felusia Stato, the deco vendor deco, or her sister on the Fleet, Meridat Stato. The chips cost 5,000 credits each.
Cartel Market Certificates
Cartel Market Certificates are a Legacy Currency classified under Seasonal Events section. You can win them from the slot machines during the Nightlife Event and find them in Ultimate Cartel Packs.
You can only spend them on items sold by Underworld Exchange vendors and Clem Stato, Theron Shan’s long-lost flamboyant brother, located near Public Listings in the Strongholds and Crew Skills quardrant of the Fleet.
Early Cartel Market History
From Game Update 1.5 to 5.7, most Cartel Market items were only available from specific packs available for a limited time. All packs were also part of a specific Shipment, typically containing 5 different packs released in sequence.
Each Shipment had a unique reputation and vendor associated with it, and you’d get reputation trophies as well as Cartel Certificates from opening packs associated with said Shipment.
Each Shipment’s reputation vendor in the Cartel Bazaar sold a large selection of items from packs in those Shipments, and if you met the required reputation rank, you could go to the Cartel Bazaar and buy those for a small number of credits and Cartel Certificates.
After all packs in the Shipment were released, those packs would be embargoed, meaning they were retired from the Cartel Market (introducing FOMO) and the selection of items would only be obtainable from the reputation vendor by those who opened packs from the Shipment.
These reputation vendors were purebred workhorses, pulling quadruple duty as extra CM item advertising outside of the store, cultivating a greater sense of FOMO, acting as RNG protection, and creating another incentive to buy more packs and reach the next reputation Rank.
Following Star Wars Battlefront II’s loot box fiasco in 2017, BioWare pivoted away from assorted cosmetics in the Shipment system in favor of higher-quality direct sale items and the Ultimate Cartel Pack, though they stopped adding new CM items to these vendors partway through 3.0 with Shipment 7.
As part of Game Update 5.9.2 “Galactic Legend” in August 2018, the Shipments model was shuttered and all Shipment reputations were consolidated into the Underworld Exchange, with reputation trophies available from Ultimate Cartel Packs and the Contraband Slot Machine.
This Shipment system is more complicated and disconnected from the game, but many elements and incentives exist in the streamlined Battle Pass systems, like Galactic Seasons, and obscenely lucrative whaling industry that exists today.

Other Items You Shouldn’t Buy from the Cartel Market
There are a few more items you shouldn’t buy from the Cartel Market because you can get them elsewhere in the game or they’re worthless.
Commander’s Compendium
You can purchase Commanders Compendia individually or as a discounted 3-pack from the Cartel Market, but you can also buy them from V1C-0RY for 4.25 million credits and 3 Dark Project MK-1s.
V1C-0RY is the Conquest Rewards Vendor and Republic War Droid (on both factions!) located in the Guild Conquest alcove of the Strongholds and Crew Skills quadrant of both the Imperial and Republic Fleets.
You can get way more than 10 million credits for 800-1000 Cartel Coins.
XP Boost Consumables
You can purchase Major and Minor Experience Boost consumables from the Cartel Market. However, you can also get them for free as a Daily Login Reward or as a reward for completing some missions for your origin story. If you need more, you can typically find them on the GTN for pretty cheap.
Holostatue Toys
Back in the days of ye olde SWTOR, abilities weren’t granted automatically. No, instead, you had to go to a class trainer and pay a decent chunk of credits to unlock new abilities individually after leveling up.
Most of the Holostatue Toys allowed you to train your new abilities out in the field, for convenience. Nowadays, the class trainers only teach you speeder piloting, making the Holostatues useless.
The worthless Holostatues include:
- Darth Malgus Holostatue
- Satele Shan Holostatue
- Senya Holo Trainer
- Hutt Trainer
There’s also the Revan Holostatue, but that one is actually quite valuable as it’s a vendor, so you can repair your gear out in the field. It’s better than the Legacy Perk Repair Droid because it only has a 1 minute cooldown, 1 minute duration, and no cast time.
